Filling low calorie foods?

So here's my latest problem, and the reason I find weight loss such a nightmare.

- I get up and eat a 350 calorie breakfast, then jog 3 miles to work. -Good Start.

- I take in lunch, always just a couple of hundred calories. -No problems so far.

- I get home, cook dinner, again nothing too heavy. - Sucessful day?

- After dinner, around 8pm, 9pm, THE HUNGER kicks in. Cravings start taking over, I really start to desire some empty calories. Some days I can resist, but others I head straight for the kitchen and take in a further 1000-2000 calories..RUINING my days progress!

Can anyone suggest a way to get over evening hunger pangs, or some low calories foods that would fill me up without making me feel guilty.

Thanks.

hey man i know exactly how you are feeling the other night I was craving soooooooo bad i went to friendlys and got some icecream ruining my days progress also. I'm not sure about the low calorie filling foods but ur last meal doesnt have to be dinner. Around 830, 9, 915 you can have a yogurt or 2. I mean you can find yogurts for 60-100 calories a pop. ALso keep a picture of someone you want to look like or something on your refigerator door or the word DETERMINATION or DISCIPLINE even tho it sounds very dumb it may help you out. :D

It sounds like you're taking in too few calories during the day and your body makes up for it at day's end by demanding what it needs. Try spreading your calories over 5 or 6 meals so that you are eating every 2-3 hours. Also try to increase your calorie intake til you're around 500 or so calories under your maintenance level.

Fiber is your friend. If you are good durring the day, and if your portions and calories are not your problem, I would have to say throw down a protein shake after dinner with a scoop of fiber and some flax oil. Thats what keeps me out of the fridge anyway. Atleast try to get a good amount of fiber carbs durring the day.

How many calories are your dinner? I think you are taking in too few since by dinner you have only taken in 550 calories! That's nothing. How many calories are you shooting for daily?

I always expect to get hungry again after dinner, but not raging mad hungry. That's very likely an indication of simply not eating enough.

Experiment with eating more often. If you're only grabbing 600 calories before dinner, it's probably not enough. Get a big bag of almonds and bag it into servings, grab an apple, some lean turkey meat, protein shake, whatever, and take it to work. Then eat like you are, but throw in a couple of additional snacks.

Make breakfast your biggest meal of the day, eat oats, forget the calories so much cut out all procesed foods and ANYTHING with sugar in it.

You are currently starving your body all day then overeating at night - this is guaranteed to make you fat.

Thanks for all the answers, I'll try to up the Calories in the day a little and as Conan says I'll give Oats a shot in the morning. My biggest concern is that eating oats will fill me up too much before running to work!

Currently 6'3 and 207lbs.. Long way down to 195lbs, but hey.
