feel those back muscles burn!

hi.

Ive been doing some seated rows and incline row and have noticed that i feel my arms getting sore/tired before i feel anything in the back. My question is, if i use a lower weight and really sqeeze the shoulder blades together, will i still see increases in the back?

Thanks

Try a different exercise, like pullups, bent barbell row, one arm dumbell row... I seldom do cable rows for just that reason, my arms tire before my back, but yes if you use less weight and really concentrate on your lats those exercises can be good also, but I would stick with more basic barbell exercises as your main lat regemin. Just use those other exercises for an occasional change up, or after the basic exercises have already tired your lats some.

pull through the elbows, not the forearms.

and I agree, do more pull ups and barbell rows, t-bar rows, and give the cable machine a rest. i do seated rows occasionally too, but its not one of my 'core moves'.

Do bent over barbell rows, pullups, shrugs, etc. If your arms are your weakpoint, then of course they will give out first and it may take time for your grip to catch up as well. Doing heavy weight movements that require a good grip (like barbell rows and shrugs) will improve your grip while doing pullups/chinups really nail your back. It takes time for your body's weakpoints to catch up with the rest of you.

Doing light weight movements gives me a great burn too, but that next day soreness usually indicates overtraining if you have been working out for a while too.
