On reading numerous web sites I found only way I can control or reduce belly is do cardio and eat low fat food. Well, here is the problem at the age of 54 I first time went to Gym one month back and doing Cardio(treadmill three time a week, 35 minutes each-3.7 MPH) - is this good enough execise for me. My goal is to reduce tummy - I am OK everywhere except the tummy.

Another problem is that most sites say eat low fat food. I am vegetarian guy. Most my Indian Asian food is all fried - and I love it. There is no Indian food that will be no fried and most have no calories listed as this is really made and not processed/canned etc. That is the way Indian food is, if one needs to eat and enjoy. I am used to eating this from childhood and eat sometimes American but can not do always.

Any suggestions on my exercise plan and diets. Thanks.

I'm not a vegetarian, but all I used to eat was fried foods. And like you, I have a belly problem. (Too much beer over the years.) I started exercising and eating better 3 mths ago. I've reduced the belly considerably.

When I started exercising, I cut down on fried food (only one meal a day for anything fried, and only because it's hard to find not-fried, not-oily food where I work), junk food (only 1x a week, and so I don't feel deprived and quit my program), and completely eliminated ALL fast food and beer.

I think there's no way around cutting down on the oil. If you start by reducing your fried food intake to 1 meal / day, that'll do a lot already.

Also, extra virgin olive oil is considered the only healthy cooking oil. I read somewhere though that there's a certain kind of canola -- pressed, I think?? something to do w/ how it's processed -- that is also good.

Good luck.

There is plenty of Indian food that is not fried or unhealthy. Eating healthy is just as important, if not more important than excercising. Fried food everyday is extremely unhealthy. Have you got your cholesterol levels checked lately? If you're eating fried food everyday they may be very bad. You need to fix your diet straight away.

Apart from eating healthy food, will doing treadmill 20 minutes a day three times(3.5 mph) a week enough workout for getting rid off belly.

I can write a book on how wrong this is.

Anyway, I don't think someone is gong to site here and write you out a diet without receiveing payment however we are here to help. What I suggest you do to start, is figure out what your calorie intake should be for fat loss.
