Fast Small Punching Bags

They are called speed bags. They work your timing and coordination.

According to this link it will build up the shoulders and arms. One of my best friends used to box in high school and when we discussed them a few weeks ago he swore they build muscle as well.

Those are still muscles though. The question wasn't, "Will I get omgwtfzors big arms using a speed bag?" but whether or not they worked any muscle. Not every exercise needs to be focused on ST fibres and getting beastly. Variety, IMO, is key.

That's true, but look at the context of jay's content. Newbish to say the least...the question posed seemed to me like he wanted some kind of muscle development, and due to his newbness, I assumed that this would be hypertrophy related.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Still, the primary function of the speed bag is not to develop your physique. Despite the fact that this happens to an extent. It will work your arms and whatnot, but only to the point where you've adapted to it.

And, technically speaking, the speedbags will work the minute muscles that contract the iris, hearing, etc...

Yep, depending on your duration and routine.

I did kind of think you as being so at first, but I was under a lot of stress at the time and I might have gone too far to assure you didn't. Thanks for manning up first.

What I should have said was, "I interpreted that he wanted huge muscles from the speedbag."

Anyway, in reality you can get a similar workout by swinging your arms in tight circles for an x duration of time.
