Hi everyone! I'm new to this site. It seems like a wonderful place and I can't wait to get started.

My current weight: 65 kg.
My first goal: 60 kg by 1st September.
My ultimate goal: 55 kg.

Plan
Calories: 1000 - 1500 a day
Fruit: no more than 4 portions a day, and they can't all be apples
Sugar: aim for low/medium GI foods
Portions: stop when I am 80% full
Exercise: running or gym, 5 or 6 times a week

OK, way to go! I haven't been counting the calories of what I ate today, so I guess I'll start tomorrow.

Thanks for the welcome, maleficent :)

So today has been my last day of overeating. I didn't eat horrifically but I grazed a lot and ate when I wasn't hungry, and such. Tomorrow I'll start counting calories, and putting more thought into it. I'm also hoping to do a long run in the morning, because it's been a few days since I exercised.

Who knew it was so hard to count calories and to stick to a limit?

Today
Calories: 2485 (goal 1400 - 1600) :(
Fruit: 17 (goal 4 portions or less) :(
Sugar: not bad, except for the fruit (goal low/medium GI) :)
Portions: mostly ok, but dinner was a disaster (goal 80% full) :(
Exercise: badminton 3 hr, walking 1 hr 15 min :)

I was tempted not to log today, to put off my diet for one more day. But I guess that could just carry on indefinitely. No, I've put it off for too long already, and although today hasn't been a success, I'm going to log it nonetheless.

Good for you for logging it! It always helps to see it written or typed, so you know where you need to make adjustments.

Yesterday was the first day of my diet. I thought I was going to die of starvation! LOL. :rotflmao:

You will get the hang of it, you just have to set your mind to it!

Thank you nauticalstar! :beerchug:

Wow, today has been a good day!

Sunday 26th August
Calories: 1361 (goal 1000 - 1500) :)
Fruit: 7 (goal 4 portions or less) :(
Sugar: no refined sugar (goal low/medium GI) :)
Portions: very good (goal 80% full) :)
Exercise: ran 11 miles in just under 2 hours :)

Hope tomorrow is just as good. Though, I'm planning on recovering from the run so I won't be doing much exercise.

You have done such a great job today!!

11 miles...WOW!!! You're lucky, I can barely even run 1 mile! :rotflmao:

Keep it up!

I know, isn't it incredible? :rotflmao: Seriously, it's the longest I've ever run in my life. I was aiming for 10 miles, then got lost, and ended up in the middle of the M1 (a major motorway in the UK).

Thanks for your support!

Didn't update last night because we were hosting a barbecue. Running after kids burns loads of calories, but it also makes me stress-eat...

Monday 27th August
Calories: 2014 (goal 1000 - 1500) :(
Fruit: 4 (goal 4 portions or less) :) Wohoo! 3 of them were apples though.
Sugar: 1 tsp in tea (goal low/medium GI)
Portions: overate a little at dinner (goal 80% full)
Exercise: none, as planned :)

My weight didn't change this morning though. I think it actually went down a tiny bit, but it's hard to tell because my scale isn't digital.

If I can get my bum off the computer, I'll be going for a 10-mile run soon.

I just ate a mooncake which someone gave me, then googled it to find it contains 712 calories :eek2:

One mooncake? It was about the size of my fist...

Hey faith!

I think you did good yesterday considering you bad a barbecue, plus as you said you were chasing kids around so that burns calories!

Good luck on another 10 mile run! :jump:

Thanks for the encouragement, Erika and Mal!

Tuesday 28th August
Calories: 2268 (goal 1000 - 1500) I'm finding it hard sticking to these goals :(
Fruit: 4 (goal 4 portions or less) :)
Sugar: mooncake, and two bottles of cider (goal low/medium GI) :(
Portions: not bad (goal 80% full) :)
Exercise: 45 minutes of cardio at the gym, 1.5 hours of walking :)

So far today I've been bingeing quite badly. My weight hasn't changed - I guess that's a good thing considering how much I've been eating - but I was hoping for it to go down. This self-control business isn't easy

Wednesday 29th August
Calories: 2674 (goal 1000 - 1500) :(
Fruit: 10 (goal 4 portions or less) :(
Sugar: pancakes, too many grapes (goal low/medium GI) :(
Portions: binged (goal 80% full) :(
Exercise: ran 30 minutes, walked 30 minutes :)

OK, that's it. I can't slip this early!!! Tomorrow I'm aiming for a *perfect* day.

Welcome to the WLF Faith!!! Don't beat yourself up so much about having a bit of a bad day, as long as your keeping up on the exercise you should do just fine. For me, the hardest part was the first month and getting my food and calories in check, but once that passed I was able to calculate most of what I ate in my head and it just got easier and easier after that point. It takes time, and it's also small baby steps. You'll get there, but don't rush it. Promise yourself a few GOOD days, where you eat real well and you focus on exercise, then tell yourself when Friday comes you can have a splurge day, and not worry so much about the calories of an item. Once you do that a few weeks, you'll be pumped when that Friday gets there. It's all a mind over matter change. It takes a long time to correct the habit, you'll do it!! Have "Faith" in yourself and maybe keep a small journal next to your bed and every night write down 5 things your grateful for in that day, it will help uplift you a little and keep you going. Good luck on your new venture, starting it is one of the hardest parts. GOOD JOB so far!:rotflmao: :jump:

Thanks Miss Ladybug :) That's a really good idea. My "splurge" days are currently way more than one day per week, but I'll definitely work on what you say.

Thursday 30th August
Calories: 1493 (goal 1000 - 1500) :) OMG W00T!!!
Fruit: 11 (goal 4 portions or less) :(
Sugar: just grapes, but not as bad as last time (goal low/medium GI) :)
Portions: perfection (goal 80% full) :)
Exercise: ran 8 miles :)

OK, today wasn't *perfect*, but I'm so proud of myself nonetheless. Maybe one day I'll concentrate on eating less fruit, but it's not one of my current priorities. I'm just so glad all my other goals were successful!

(whispers: I think I lost weight today  )

OHHHHH, why whisper you lost weight, BE PROUD and say it out loud!! YOU GO GIRL! I LOVE FRUIT! I can eat it 24/7, but I would never get out of the bathroom long enough to go to the gym, so I opt for a good fruit every other night. Tonight it's cantaloupe, my mouth is watering right now as I'm thinking about it sitting in my fridge. I do go in spurts when I eat a piece of fruit everyday for lunch. I love Granny Smith apples. OH YEAH! and nectarines, then Strawberries, watermelon, and well anything else after that. LOL LOL Have a great day faith!

Hi Faith!
We're on team #2 in the Halloween Challenge so I thought I'd check out your diary.

Don't worry about your calories. 1000-1500 is quite low for the exercise that you do. Your body needs those extra calories to support that exercise, so don't feel bad when you hit 2000. You should be eating at least 1600 imo. Keep up the great work!

Where in the UK do you live? I've been on the M1 before..but in a car...lol I love England...one of my fav countries in the world. :)

Hi!

Just wanted to drop by & say Hi & that I am glad we are both on the same team for the Halloween Challenge. Go House on Weightloss Hill!

(whispers: I really hope you lost weight today ;) )
