Face pulls question

I do face pulls from a pulldown station with a triceps rope. i put one foot on the seat for support. however, when i do that i feel it most on the side which has the food on the ground. i vary with what foot i put on the seat for each set. Im just wondering if i should have both feet on the floor and rather lean back. i dont want to cause an imbalance between right and left side.

what in god's name is a 'face pull'?

it sounds like a made up exercise from Men's Health....

Oh man. Face pulls are great upper back exercises. You should try them out sometime.

When I've done them from a pulldown, I used a regular lat pulldown bar, got a grip around or a little outside shoulder width, and pulled. The foot stabilization shouldnt matter, it's more important that you are far enough back so your body isn't leaning a certain direction (foreward or backward).

You can also do them with a rope (as you did), but from a cable seated row, or a regular cable station. I put a rope on a regular cable station, sat on the floor, and adjusted the rope to eye level (sitting on the floor). Again you have to sit back a bit, about 3/4s of the way to the other cable.

the ones ive seen has been from either a pulldown station or a high cable station, where they leaned back pretty much, or had a food on the seat.

with foot on seat.
If i dont use the foot on the seat, i wont be able to stand still while pulling the rope fast towards my face, as the pull would make me come forward. i was thinking of standing with feet together but leaning slightly back so that doesnt happen.

ahhh, gotcha.

i have done seated rows with the rope, elbows high up, but from the lower attachment, not up high. you gotta reduce the weight, cuz it mostly targets the rear deltoids.

At least the way I did them, that's where it was felt.

I wouldn't lean back as much, but that's just my opinion. Try them seated as well sometime.
