I'm fat y'all.

I'm an overweight lady. Can't fit into my clothes. Can't be nekket with the lights on. Can't bend over without a plumber's crack. Can't wave to the neighbors without underarm jiggle.

Better do something about it.

Got some short term goals, through 12/31/11.

1) Exercise 6x/week.

2) No processed sugar.

3) Weigh in every Friday.

4) Make a weight loss buddy or two.

5) Maintain my current height, 5'8.

On New Year's, I'll revisit my goals based on my progress.

For sure, one of them is in the bag.

Starting Stats:

Weight 174

BMI 26.5

Arm: 12.5

Leg: 27.5

Chest: 38.5

Belly: 36.5

Booty: 43

Hello Extra,

You and I are alot alike it looks like...although you are starting at a lower weight than I did and I'm only 5'7"...so you think you are fat...trust me, I'm fatter! My BMI is still over 33..and that about says it all! Your goals look achievable to me...so for it girl! For me the exercise has been the real booster for me for weightloss and inches lost. (I went to the alterations lady today and picked up some pants I had to have redone...always nice when "slim pants" fit! When I'm at your current weight, I'll be within 24 pounds of my goal...and I do remember what it was like at that weight...it's just been awhile (and trust me, being heavier is not worth it...so stay on your goal...higher is not better than lower when it comes to weight for me). I've never been at risk for any eating disorder in terms of being skinny...my eating disorder is that I eat too much of the wrong stuff!

This forum is good for me...not only do I get encouragement from others (like you...thank you very much!), but I also type out what has been working for me (which is motivation to keep doing it!).

Hi Scbibhouse. Thanks for stopping by!

Yup, I noticed we had similar goals and figured we could support one another. Isn't it already a bti of motivation to have memories of how *great* you felt at a lighter weight? I miss feeling so good.

I agree about exercise. Some people can lose weight with just proper diet. But, I can only lose a couple pounds. To really be effective I need ot exercise too. Putting in a good workout makes me feel responsible for eating better (so my efforts aren't wasted). It all works out.

Yesterday I went for a 2 hour hike. Lots of varying elevations and I wasn't bored because the views were gorgeous. I love getting outside to work out.

Crymlyn, I'm pretty sure I was exhausted after that hike. :) I'll start with cardio and introduce strength training soon, sometime in Dec. For cardio I'll just walk/hike and do the elliptical. Will try to keep things really low impact so as not to injure myself or strain something early on and then quit. Ya know?

I kept the momentum up this week though. Did lots of hiking, elliptical once. No ordering takeout, and no sugar (except this one day where I went buck-nutty).

Most of it is probably water weight, from reducing the sodium intake. Since I'm cooking at home, I'm not eating all those salty restaurant foods. No matter, it's exactly the motivation I need to keep plugging along next week.

Down another 3 pounds. Ate well this week, though I did almost freak out and get pizza/fried food this week. Was really wanting sodium for some reason.

Anyway, gotta keep plugging along. I am Very Determined, to end 2011 healthier than I started. Also, will give me some momentum going into January where the gym will be crowded. I'll already have a routine. I won't get frustrated or discouraged and give up.

That's the plan anyway!

Great job so far Extra! This is the first year that my New Years resolution won't be losing weight. I'll already be working on that so I can't waste a perfectly good resolution on it!

I've got to brace myself for the increase of people at the gym once the holidays pass. But I know soon, it'll trickle back down to those who truly are determined.
