Exessive protein drinks

Hello,
I weigh like 170 and i want to try to be at the lowest 185 in three months. That's when basketball season starts and i want to put on some weight for this season. Anyways, I've been getting protein powder that has like 20g per serving and mixing it with water and drinking ike two of these per day. I know this might sound a little crazy, but would there be any health risks involved in drinking five of these per day for three months straight? I want to load up the protein, lift hard every day, and be ready for the season in three months. I'm pretty skinny, cause I'm like 6'4" and that's why I want to take some extreme measures cause its hard for me to put on weight. So the question is, is five protein drinks a day for three months straight bad for your health?

If it's just protein, and you have no renal problems and drink plenty of water you should be okay. Although I've heard, if your protein contains the enzyme lactase to help you digest, that if you were to drink too much when you stopped your body would become lactose intolerant.

You're better off getting your protein from regular food.

I actually have scientific evidence to say otherwise, but you're right. It's extremely tricky and their are several things that you have to do and be aware of to do that healthily.
Protein toxicity has severe effects of your kidney aswell, and you'll probably feel it there first...unless you do other things that are waaay beyond the call of duty for most people and something that while Ii do this and know my health better for it than most ppls, not someting I'd normally recommend..just for it's strictness and how tentative health can get the moment you stop or drop something.

Two questions.
1. How old are you?
and 2. what do you do for training in a day/week ?

I havent heard about protein toxicness, so take that into consideration. I've always thought that spare protein would just come out with the urine, so you'd be pissing dollars so to say, and i agree with the rest of the people here get your protein other ways, ie. fish (tuna, mackerel) chicken, milk etc in the end much cheaper and better tasty as well

So THAT'S what happened to milk and me. Our relationship has been...tense as of late. Sometimes loose, too.

Kidneys and liver have to process the excess protein out. Some say it can lead to kidney stones, esp if you don't drink enough water.
Plus it could bring to light an existing kidney problem you didn't know about when you start putting stress on it.

simple answer: 1g of protein per pound of body weight is all that's needed (technically1g per lb of lean mass, but this gives you a good range to work with). Try to get that protein from whole foods as much as possible...but a couple 20-30g shakes a day won't kill ya.

drinking that much protein eveyrday would lead to constipation.

You have that much protein but not enough nutrients to break it down with. You'll be basically just ****ting it all back out in the end in diaarhea mode. You'll probably lose more weight in process. That's like bulge eating.

Exactly. and that's why it's so tough on your liver and can cause kidney failure.

it's your kidneys that flush it out and that regulate your fluids in your body, helping it thin out, and your liver that produces te bile acid to break it down. It's a big ask. and then you get a sore bloated stomache and can't poop and so on.
Thats why In stead of putting the demand on my liver to produce enough bile, I break it down with a glass of dry red wine...and then besides the extra fluid clear fluid and juice intake ( causing a glycolic (pooping )reaction of dairy meets fruit sugar acid all of its own ), I also use a fibre supplement to get the waste the heck out of my body asap.
By doing that, because of the extra sulfur frm the protein, immunity s better, and because of the way it's broken down, it's available almost immediately as energy instead of the carbs I eat less of, aand t increases the rate my body produces HGRH but all the neccessary catabolism and metabolism processes so unlike steroids, It protects instead of kills my liver.
I also get smaller denser muscles aand I retain tone longer. What more could you want??
