Exercise-phobic hits the gym!

Looking good so far, you have had good consistancy for your exercise - Well Done :)

Hmmm, I'm undecided about my last two days. On one hand, I justify that they weren't too bad and I exercised, but on the other, I should have resisted temptation, dammit!

Sunday was a crazy day including church, a 2 hour choir practice, and my grandpa's 85th birthday party, which included my nephews and neices. Ah!
Did very well until dinner, when I had chinese food. I avoided anything fried or carby, and mainly had vegetable and meat dishes, no rice.

But dessert! 1 peice of raspberry pie, chocolate ice cream, 3 chocolate mint patties. I made my sister take home all of the leftovers. I will not be eating this for the next 3 days!

But, alas. I found 3 peices of fudge on our counter. How did they get there? Some well-wishing church person, to be sure. I decided to eat all three peices so they wouldn't tempt me in the future. Proactive, eh?

Yesterday:

breakfast: the usual
lunch: 1 cup soup, 2 egg omelet with veggies
dinner: chicken, small amount of pasta
snacks: grapes, 1/2 pomegranate, almonds, yogurt, meatballs, 1 piece bread with cream cheese.

Now I know what you all are thinking. MEATBALLS? that's not a snack! But I did 1 hour on the elliptical, and 1 hour yoga, I hope it gets rid of that nonsense.

meatballs are awesome! I love snacking on low fat ones with a bit of thai chillie sauce, especially if I feel like I've had enough carbs for the day. Another awesome alternative: Turkey balls! deeee-lish!

You're doing so great! Congratulations on your achievements.

I have the same "sugar jones". I've been having those little Jello chocolate puddings at night. They're satisfying.

I've been a saint since the fudge incident, going to the Y most everyday, and swimming, doing Tae-Bo (holy workout). Been eating well too, 1600 calories everyday except for yesterday, which I shall forever dub "The Great Binge of 2008".

Now in my old life, it wouldn't be unusual for me to pop by the corner store, select two chocolate bars, and bring them down to the basement for the Thursday night lineup (Survivor and Grey's, the Office online the next day)

But yesterday was spectacular. I was sittin' pretty at 1230 calories after dinner, and bored out of my skull. I decide to go to the movies since I have no problem going by myself if I have a last minute urge to go.

By the end of the previews, I had inhaled a package of Rolos, a Wunderbar, and a Cadbury's dairy milk. 3 chocolate bars! I think that's a first. Watched Quantum of Solace, and then proceeded to the Twilight theatre (yes I am a teenage nerd at heart). After the movie, went to Pizza Pizza, for a slice of pepperoni plus a bottle of Sprite.

AHH! It was the most glorious binge ever. And I know I should be ashamed and regretful, but I'm really not. I estimate the nightly calories came to 1500 calories, which on top of my daily cals makes 2730. Now I know that's high. But it's not enough to make me gain a pound. And I know this will not be a weekly occurence.

So? What to do? I got up this morning, had my regular breakfast, and am going to the Y this afternoon. And I have no urge for junk food now. Ideally, in the future, I'd like to be able to satisfy my cravings with ONE chocolate bar instead of 3, but hey. There's room to grow!

SO! The past few weeks have been interesting... candy, desserts, christmas! I seem to be back on track the past few days.

I'm up to 3 days a week swimming, 2 days strength, 2 days elliptical, and 1 day of some sort of stretchy activity (yoga?). I've lost 4 pounds since the last post, but I don't seem to care as much about weight anymore. It's all about the exercise, baby! A few things I'm interested in:

-getting my NLS in March (I lifeguarded for a coupla summers, if I do the course again, it'll likely be with 16-year olds, but what can you do?)
-doing the 100 push-up program (I can do 2 now! haha)
-taking a pilates class
-getting in biking shape by springtime, there's lots of trails and hills and mountain biking around here
-being able to to plank and side-plank FOREVER
-being brave and learning to do free-weights, and scary things like bosu balls and stability balls (why am I afraid of the gym! AH!)

Hey there, doesn't look like you use your journal much, but I thought I'd stop in and say hi anyways. We're both on Team 2 of the new years challenge Blancita set up.
Hope you're having a good day!!

Hey girl! What's up? What is an NLS? In my brain it's 'non-lipid soluble' haha :p

How was your new year??

Well, airmanwifey and sara, I used to use this thing called a journal.

But then Christmas happened, and it was AWFUL. I just read your diary, sara, and the same thing happened to me! I didn't exercise for 3 weeks, ate everything in sight, got a sinus infection and a huge cold for 2 weeks, and gained 5 pounds.

But you know what? Antibiotics work, woooo! So I am feeling tons better, and am ready for a fresh start. Also, SOOO excited for New Year's challenge, you have no idea!

So far this week (first few days of normalcy): been to the Y 3 times, have eaten well. Need to work on mixing it up at the gym, learning free weights, maybe a bootcamp class?

sara - non-lipid soluble. you are such a science geek!! I love it. It stands for national lifeguard society (I lifeguarded for 4 summers, thought it would be a good challenge to take the course again, fitness-wise). Plus I never know when I could use it, I'm applying for physiotherapy for next fall, it could be a good part-time job on campus

Anyway, looking forward to being here more often!

Woooooo down 3 pounds since the challenge! I've been eating well all week, and still have 350 cals for the day, time to do some snacking, nom nom nom.

ALSOOOO, I got my grad school applications DONE and SUBMITTED today! Now I just have to wait for interviews (hopefully). I'm applying to physiotherapy, and my friend who's in that program says they take off their clothes all the time and git naked feel the bones and muscles of other people. Have to get fit before school so I can wear my sports bra with pride! Ahhhh that's my worst nightmare, but it's incentive, I guess.

Went to the gym and did 45 min elliptical with a crazy heart rate, and half an hour weights, then some abs and yoga to top it all off!

I hope things keep going this well, and it's not just the New Year. I'm always good in January.

Made it for an early morning (to me) yoga class, and holy that man is intense. I met some friends there who've done yoga for years, and they walked out sweaty and achy. But I guess there's no progress without pushing yourself a little! Have to get better to be like my arch-nemesis Curvie Gurlie (Sweet Cheeks are #1!!)

Did well with eating, experimented with fresh garlic in my stirfry, used WAY too much (who knew?) and feel slightly sick now, hahaha. But it's healthy!

Came across the normal pressures of a family dinner (why aren't you having bread? Eat a cookie!) that always annoy me. How many times can you smile sweetly and say no thank you? GRRRR. I come from a family that is all slightly overweight, were raised on farms, and told to finish their plates. It's hard to change the minds of people, but my parents are awesome with it, fortunately. They buy awesomely healthy foods, fruits and veggies, lean meats, etc. Yay mom!

Overall, a great day. Hopefully everyone's having an awesome weekend!

OH YUMM! I love garlic in my food. It's so yum. Garlic in my toothpaste, garlic in my hairspray, etc. Actually no ahah but it does taste good.

I live in a city that's known for garlic --- a few weeks ago, I took a shower and I thought I smelled liek garlic. WRONG. It was the water. GGG--ROSS. RIGHT? YUCKKK.

Anyway good job resisting the food! You're amazing! ANDD I might have told you this already but your weight ticker is AWESOME. ;)

BAD = first swim since my cold, and there was AWFUL burning in my nose! oh the pain. Ah! Also, it was superbusy, and we had 3 people in our lane, and I kicked a guy really hard when doing the breaststroke. Oops! I said sorry, but he didn't look impressed. So I'm not going to swim until I feel completely better. He might kill me.

GOOD= stayed within my cals, even had a chocolate bar!! First one in a long time. I'm seriously hungry though, I'll just go to bed early so I won't eat more. I can't let down Team Sweet Cheeks!!

Hopefully tomorrow I will kick less people.

Okay so I'm a little late on the bandwagon here... but you have a great diary going here and you are defintely helping keep team sweet cheeks in the running with what you are doing!

BTW... 5'11"? nice!!! I'd have been following you around like a puppy dog in my single days... Being 6'8" its rare when I can look a woman even close to in the eyes...

I woke up in a weird hibernation mode today. Might have been the -25 degree weather, I dunno. Felt achy and wanted to stay in my pajamas all day, SO I DID! First I watched Sense and Sensibility, ate a whole bagel with PBJ. I decided I liked Kate Winslet so much in that movie that I proceeded to watch part of Titanic, and then took a 2 hour nap. Pasta with CHEESE for dinner. Choir. Grey's Anatomy.

So basically, I did not exercise. Sorry sweet cheeks, sometimes your body needs a break, and I think mine was on vacation today. But I'm happy and full of carbs, and ready for a good night's sleep. The good news? Still under 1700 cals, shabam! I gots my 10 points for the day! Good thing I'm on this challenge, because today was the type of day I'd usually hop over to the convenience store, get 2 chocolate bars, and eat one in the car.

Did anyone see the news about the plane landing on the Hudson River? CRAZY. What an amazing survival story, and an amazing landing by the pilot. My new phobia just happens to be BASH: Bird Aircraft Strike Hazard. Just sayin'.

I LOVEEEE GREY'S ANATOMY! Meredith totally bothers me though. SOO ANNOYING. AHH.

Good job with the eating. WAY TO KEEP IT UNDER 1700! :)

ALSOO, you totally crack me up. I don't knwo why but your writing is hilar! :)

AHH! The whole Denny / Izzy thing freaks me out. I think she's a little crazy. I TOTALLY DID NOTT get to watch last night's episode yet, but I'll definitely catch it on abc.com as soon as I get back from the gym in a bit! :) I hope it's a good one! But yeah omg MCSTEAMY. soo beautiful. even if he is a manwhore, i'd sleep with him ANYY TTIME, ANY WHERE! hope you have a good weekend! :)
