Evolution

ya; i like to think that God created the earth and then evolution took place; a mixture. Im not closed minded about this its just its so silly to me : P.

Why did we evolve noses from monkeys and why did we lose our hair? Why were the monkeys(or their ancestors) the only race intelligent enough to morph into humans? Out of the millions of species; why monkeys only? And since we are killing monkeys and animals every day, why are they not adapting to this and evolving into fighters that have defensive skills, or why arent they getting smarter to make their own guns to defend themselves?

You'll have all those questions answered in High School. Animals are adapting, but not fighting skills, they have keener senses, hearing, sight, smell, etc. Which would give them advantage when being hunted, but it's not like a bear is going to pull an arm bar on you, they don't have the mental capacity. But look at the human anatomy now, we have Jacobson's Organs(Organs that were used before, but are useless now) all over our body, Tonsils, the pancreas, human pheromones, all are unusable now, but are proof that they were once required for our survival.

LOL thats hilarious! A bear pulling an arm bar! That was too much....good one. :D i am in high school : ). Ok i guess it makes sense.

The theory of evolution doesn't address where the universe and everything originated from, so it's safe to say believing in evolution doesn't make you an atheist. Believing God put everything here with a plan for it to be the way it is isn't so hard to believe.

True. The current idea of the "Big Bang" doesn't explain what caused it. How does something go from nothing to something without a direct cause of some sort?

My theory: The universe is cyclic. It explodes, expands, but gravity is always working, so it slows until it reaches a max, then begins to contract. Once everything is back in the hole, it explodes again and the cycle starts over.

Just by saying "science doesn't explain how" doesn't actually mean that God exists and that science cannot explain how. Can anyone explain God? Not really. People will just give you some lame religious/spiritual reason that makes no sense what-so-ever as to the justification of it.

For example:

"I know in my heart he exists!"
"It's just something, I believe in it"

For the love of ....gosh, if you can't fully explain "his" existence then what validity do you have of claiming that science is not the way it all happened? We've (phycists) have made quantum leaps in science in the past 15 years alone, not to mention we're just at the beginning of the science age. Give it 200 more years and I gaurantee we'll have some more info on how it all began.

And if in those 200 years they use science to prove God exists....I'll happily repent everything I've just said in an attempt to get into heaven.

No one is denying that science explains the way things happen. Theists offer an answer as to why things happen. Why as opposed to How...

The only race intelligent to morph into humans? You make evolution sound like a conscious choice. Monkey's were small and vulnerable animals that needed to get smarter to survive as they journeyed into different parts of the world. They needed to adapt, for example, to the colder climate and less direct sunlight in the North - the reason that Europeans are white, or that eskimos have more body fat.

Another thing you don't seem to get is how long evolution takes - we're talking hundreds of thousands of years, even millions. I mean, us (humans) going on a massive killing rampage of say baby seals (haha) in the last - even 200 years means nothing. Just think - 25 thousand years ago, we were all indians. 3 thousand years ago, we were all indians (most of us). Just 200 years ago, we didn't even have electricity. But you put a human in a room from 25 thousands years ago and myself, you couldnt tell a difference. I have ears, he has ears, etc.

I mean, there are so many - too many - blaring testimonies to evolution that I cannot help but being close minded on the issue. Take the average human height from 300 years ago and chart it on it's progress to today. A steady climb. Take the bugs that adapt to pesticides, and many other example people have cited.

You really need to get your facts straight. 3000 years ago, we were not all Indians. 20000 years ago, we were not all Indians. I am assuming that you are referring to the Indus Valley peoples. The earliest homo sapiens migrated from Africa.

: O! i wish i could be convinced into all that is true but i would need actual proof (plz tell if there is any : ))to believe it not just theories that COULD make sense.

anyways, we have been hunting animals since we were idiot cavemen so why didnt they evolve back then to now?

And the monkeys were the only animals that ever went through the needed conditions to evolve out of the millions of other species in the world?

i am just looking for answers here; i am not trying to challenge you guys or the theory : ).

So you actually believe that this divine entity known to you as God actually just plopped us on the earth,(don't respond yes unless you want to be called 37 variations of the world "idiot") and for the past few thousands of years we've just been living? There is hard, concrete evidence to support evolution. Go to wikipedia and read about Darwanism and the theory of evolution by Charles Darwin, it should give you some insight into it.

Hmmm! I wonder why there are like 20 million fossils on record, and not "1" of them shows something changing into something else. You would think at some point there would be a wing and a foot on something!

How is the pancreas no longer useable?

You obviously don't know what a theory is. In science, a theory is an explanation of a group of facts. It is not just a guess, as it is used in everyday speech. The theory of relativity is not just a guess, and it will never be called "the FACT of relativity". Same thing with atomic theory. And evolution theory.

Your question as to why other animals didn't evolve into super advanced beings (like us) is explained by natural selection. Our ancestors evolved brains, because of the environment that they lived in and what was needed to survive, which proved to be the mightiest asset in survival. Eventually, humans became intelligent enough to converse, and the invention of language became the catalyst to our growth. So humans became so dominant because of language, which other animals lack the intelligence to develop. If you think about it, it really makes sense that one species should dominate the rest.

Are you implying that he is an idiot because he believes in God or because he doesn't believe in evolution?

That is very ignorant. There are so many transitional fossils that sometimes we cannot even identify what species they belong to.

Of course I never meant anything offense by the idiot remark, I simply meant that if someone so literally believes in it, they could very well be considered so. I mean in all honesty, we've actual evidence that we evolved, and therein if someone believes that we're wrong, and that the "right" way it happened is the so "unexplained" way (ie. = being simply created from nothingness by God) is foolish in every sense.

The reason I say is because even the most religion bound people believe in evolution, or in science to some extent. They believe that God created matter, atoms, ect. They believe that God had a much greater plan than just putting random stuff on some random planet.

God is used as a way to explain the unexplainable, wherein science explains the explainable.

Alright, sorry to get touchy about it. I've been called stupid for being a theist. A guy said that "all Christians are stupid", or something to that degree. So I made the guy a list of "stupid people", including Fyodor Dostoevsky, Leo Tolstoy, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Soren Kierkegaard, etc.
Some people can be really presumptuous at times. We should all recognize that there are certain aspects to any way of life that we cannot understand without living it.

^ Simply stating that there is no God in itself is ignorance. Simply stating that there is a God is also ignorance.
