Eve's Diary

Hey guys,

I've been lurking around here for ages and talking about loosing weight...but I've really been namby-pambying around the issue and only been half hearted about the whole thing!

During the week something just snapped for me and I've decided that I need to stop talking about it and start doing it....so here goes! :)

I've got quite a way to goes but in the past I've managed to loose a couple of stone so im sure I'd be able to conquer it this time...altho with the aim of not putting it back on this time ;) Plus I've got some really good support from my Mam and my boyfriend :)

I'm going about it by cutting back on junk and focusing on healthier meals. I've decided not to count calories or points tho because when I've tried that in the past I've eated junk 'within' my allowance but not enough of the good stuff if you know what I mean! Anyway I feel I've got a sensible enough head on my shoulders to manage my food without getting caught up in specifics of calories....
I'm also trying to up my exercise level. I've recently started a new job where I don't drive so thats helping a bit as I've a decent walk to and from the bus stop. I've also gotten some exercise DVDs and plan on walking in the park as many days a week as I can manage.

I know it won't be easy but I'm confident that I can do it this time. Fingers crossed :p

Ok, so heres what I got up to today...

Breakfast: Two slices bread with a tiny scrape of light mayo (would normally have cereal but there was none in the house!)

Lunch: Veggie panni

Dinner: Ham omlette my lovely boyfriend made! Big side salad with low fat home made dressing.

Going to have some strawberries and maybe some 0% yoghurt too later....

What do people think?

Went for a walk but not a particularly long one today....

Hi! Welcome to your diary! Wish you all the best in this journey!

I didn't think I was going to count calories either, but the first week I did it just to see how much I really was eating. And now I'm staying within a certain range... but there are more factors involved that just calories... for example, I also track fat, carbs, protien, cholesterol, and potassium. Sparkpeople.com makes it sooooooooooooooo easy to track not only your nutrition, but also your exercise. I'd recommend at least taking a look at it. But if not, that's okay too. Whatever works for you! When I started exercising about two weeks ago, I couldn't even get through a ten minute walk, now at the end of my second week, I'm up to 40 minutes! Don't get frustrated if you can't just jump in and go go go right away. It takes time! But the body adjusts very quickly.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi! :D

Today....

Breakfast: Strawberry crunch cereal with 0% yoghurt instead of milk. An orange.

Lunch: Big garden salad with low-fat homemade dressing, ham, boiled egg, sweetcorn and 2 slices of bread.

Going to be eating at a friends tonight...bit nervous, but fingers crossed....

WEll the dinner didnt go too well...turned out to be a BBQ with not much choice. I ended up having a bar-b-qed burger, some pasta with pesto and a piece of french stick with raita. Also had few glasses white wine spritzer. :(
Bit annoyed but such is life....onwards and upwards!

Today I didnt have breakfast coz I had a lovely lie-in! Normally would but got up WAY too late!

Lunch: Ham salad sambo with tiny bit of grated cheese and some sweetcorn

Dinner: Roasted chicken breast, potatoe, veg (no oil used) with gravy.

Snacks: 0% yoghurt, 0% fat ice-lolly, 1/2 raspberry and mango smoothie, some grapes.

Might have some popcorn later.

Went for a ramble around town too. Not too bad a day I guess.

Hiya Eve!!

Im also pretty new here, and had similar starting weights, and goals, although my ticker isnt aimed as low as one day I might like to get!!

Defo dont beat yourself up about the bbq, at the end of the day we;ve still got lives to live as well as weight to lose, I have just the last couple of days suddenly 'got it'. I now no longer feel like im dieting, I feel like i am changing my overall lifestyle for the better, and most importnatly FOREVER :) that doesnt mean that I am abstaining from bbqs/parties/meals out/nights out, that would never work, or it atleast would turn me into a sad a lonely person. I wil however make those times and days into treat days, and the ones in between i will follow my new lifestyle.

I also am not calorie counting, and am just battling with myself to get into exercise, so i guess we are kind of in a similar place,

Good Luck, you can do this :)

Hi Indian!

I think your right about the BBQ...was just disappointed that there wasnt more choice at it in terms of low cal stuff....but like you say, if I was this new lifestyle to stick theres gotta be flexability so that you can have a life too!

It's grreat to hear from someone in roughly the same boat...makes it all a bit easier so thanks!

Havent had internet access the last few days so havent been on here. Have been fairly happy with my eating tho.
I started my new healthy lifestyle a week ago so decided to weigh myself this morning...I've lost 6lbs!!!!!!!!!!!! Yahoo :rotflmao: I know lots of it is probably water and it wont be like that every week but it's such a good boost! Great to have a positive start!
I'm going away to Sweden for the weekend. previously I would either have been worried about what to eat, resentful of eating healthy on holidays or totally push the boat out. this time im confident I can make sensible choices and still enjoy my break....

Bounces out....:jump:

Well, I did pretty good on my weekend away. I decided I could have one cheat meal on my last night, and really enjoyed it with no guilt! Other than that i managed to make sensible choices and we walked loads. Anyway, week two and I lost another 5 pounds. Yipee!!

Thanks!

Ive been mainly focusing on eating ok but next week I want to add in some more exercise.
I started a new job lately and it means theres a bit extra walking so i prob have accidentally been doing a bit of exercise. But its longer hours than before and lots of travelling so Im constantly tired. Need to make the effort to schedule in some 'official' exercise. Gonna try out some of the exercise videos I got.

Fingers crossed!

What videos do you have once you try them you will have to rate them for me i have davina's and they are killers but worth it you can feel them working!

Hope you fit all your exercise in
Sarah
