Eric's Diary

Hi, I'm Eric. I'm writing this diary because it seems to help you guys and I'm willing to try anything. So, I'll be pretty basic and answers the questions Lisa suggests. I want to lose 58 pounds to start. I weight 223 pounds as of Feb. 11, 2006 and want to get down to 165 pounds. When I reach that weight I'll decide how much farther I need/want to go. But for now that works fine with me. I plan to complete this goal in 210 days, approximately 30 weeks, which is right before the next school year. I started this yesterday but haven't really kicked myself into gear quite yet but I'm still trying to morph into diet mode.

I can start my diary right now as I feel I've just accomplished something quite rewarding. For dinner, my mom and I went to a nice asian buffet. The food was definitely different from my usual burger or chicken. My goal there was to try everything and gulf down some vegetables. Well, I'm sorry to say I just couldn't get vegetables down. The way they were made was terrible. But, I did eat a little of everything, which was mostly different shellfish. At the end of the dinner I felt very full and yet, like I had eaten very little. For dessert there, I had two bite size squares of jello, a bite of my mom's bread pudding, and about a tablespoon of fat-free ice cream. I also had some bananas slices. The bananas were so good. They dipped in like a banana sauce. Really weird but very good.

So, all in all, I was proud of myself tonight. But I must say, reflecting on this morning I feel guilty about breakfast. Two fried eggs and four pieces of toast. My lunch was even worse, after snacking on candy throughout the morning I hit lunch with popcorn at the movies. A had a banana and a large cup of water before we went out to eat and I believe that's what stopped me from overeating at the buffet.

I have a new idea I plan to put into action in the near future. Chewing gum constantly throughout the day. Some fat-free, minty type gum whenever I'm not eating. If anyone has ever tried this idea, feedback would be appreciated.

Well, there you have it, my first diary entry. :)

sounds to me, eric, like you have some pretty good ideas in place! eating before going out to eat..the gum...just keep posting here, and things will get easier and better. Youll start seeing your own patterns and can adjust accordingly. The best part is your being aware, and DOING something about it! Pat yourself on the back for that!

thats great you drank water before the buffet! everyone should drink a full glass or two of water before each meal.

Congrats on starting a journal. It's a great way to keep yourself accountable, as well as to get encouragement and ideas from other!

:) Good job with drinking water before dinner! You'll be well on your way to success really soon. Stay motivated.

Well, it's still early but I want to write something. It's almost 11 in the morning and I've yet to eat anything. I've had a glass of water but that's it. I didn't eat because my mom and I were planning on going to the gym and I read yesterday that you should go to the gym in the morning and then wait about an hour before eating. Well, now someone is coming over for maybe 30 minutes so we have to wait for him to leave. Now we won't make it to the gym until around 12:30. So I'm thinking I should eat something but I'm really not hungry. Maybe I'll shove down a banana, that way by time we actually get to the gym, it won't be so bad.

I forgot to thank you guys for commenting earlier, so thanks. :D Just thought I'd come in and fill up what I had for lunch. So, I started with a cup of water, to help fill me up. Then hit it off with a six inch submarina sub with turkey, roast beef, ham, mustard, mayo, and lettuce. Gosh, that sounds bad when I write it out. :p Anywho, I topped off lunch with some cut up peachers, approximately 80 calories I believe, and then a banana. Another glass of water when I was done. So far today I've only had a banana plus what I mentioned for lunch. How am I doing?

Oh, and I've had a total of 5 glasses of water. I'm proud of myself, not being a water drinker and all. :D

Edit: I almost forgot, I'm sorry to say we didn't make it to the gym as planned. I don't whether or not we will be making it up but we'll find out by tonight. :)

Hi Eric

Thanks for the positive feedback on my diary. Water is what keeps me satisfied between meals. Chewing gum actually makes me more hungry!
Keep it up!

No problem X2change. :D

Alright, just finished a Susan Powter tape and I feel great. I could go run around the block right now, but since I'm self conscience about running in public, I'll just take call it good for now. I'm finishing my seventh glass of water up now, so proud of myself.

We have another visitor coming over for a little while around 6 pm. He should be gone by 7. Around that time I'll have a small dinner. I'm thinking cottage cheese, a banana, and some other things (I'll have to check the cabinets). We're going to see Final Destination 3 after the guy leaves so that's why I need to eat dinner while he's hear. Instead of popcorn I plan to bring some type of chopped up veggie to snack on. Cucumbers if we have any, maybe a pickle or two. It wouldn't hurt to buy a bottle of water for the movie either.

I'm so proud of myself today. I worked out and ate right. Something I haven't done in a long time. A long time. I believe this site is useful because now I can come on here and just tell everyone how well I'm doing. Quite satisfying as most of you have felt and seen as well. This may just be what I needed to keep on a successful diet.

The real test is late at night though, when I get real hungry. I'll be up another 4 hours after dinner because of WWE Raw (a wrestling program) that goes till 11 pm. Then I'll hit the hay. Hopefully I'll make it well all the way through that.

Wow, Final Destination 3 was crazy. Really intense. As for my wrestling show, it wasn't on tonight because of a freaking dog show! But it will air Thursday so it's okay. Tonight for dinner I went with about a cup of cottage cheese, a pickle, a banana, and a cup of water. We went to the movies and I brought about half a cup of cottage cheese to snack on and a bottle of water. So, I've had about 10 glasses of water today, I bloody record! Today was good and now I'm off to bed. School tomorrow! GR!

Good morning Eric,
Just wanted to drop in and check out your journal as well as introduce myself. If you haven't figured it out already, I'm one of your teammates from Team Relentless. :)

Looks to me like you're doing a great job!
I'll be checkin' in with ya frequently to see how you're doing. :D

Hi Paula (I assume that's your name :p). Thanks for popping in, and yeah, I knew you were one of my teammates. :) I'm pretty impressed with myself, I must be determined to win.

Today has been good so far and it feels good to say that. I skipped breakfast, as there was nothing, and I'm not a morning eater, does mean things to my stomach :( For lunch I had a PB and J sandwich with only some of the crust, and about a fourth of a ham and cheese sandwich, both on wheat bread, which I'm pretty sure is healthier. With lunch I also had a pear and an apple. I'm finishing up my fourth glass of water now.

I just finished working out for 40 minutes. The first 25-30 minutes were cardio and strength training. I basically did a Susan Powter video without the video. If you don't know Susan Powter, just think of Richard Simmons, only not quite as intense. The last 10-15 minutes were spent on exercises. I did 15 -modified- push ups, 25 squats (or what I know to be squats), 50 dumbbell curls (3 pounds), 50 bycicle kicks, and 15 calf raises (the hardest things). I'm pretty proud of myself. I read that you should wait at least an hour before eating for excersising to work it's best so around 5:30 pm I'll have a pickle. Then at sevenish I'm having my dinner. Don't know what it is yet but I think I'd like to go with maybe sushi (California roll is my favorite) but I don't know since we went out to eat the other day. But we'll see.. :p

So, this is my diary entry for now. :D

I did, in my opinion, very good today. I got quite a bit of cardio done, some strength training, and I ate great. I'll make a list today.

Breakfast - Nothing.
Lunch - PB and J sandwich, 1/4 ham and cheese sandwich.
Dinner - Baked chicken breast, some mac and cheese, corn, and two pickles.
Snack - Pickle.
And I've had about 6 glasses of water today. :)

I'm off to bed in maybe an hour or so, good night guys.

Hey, well making an afternoon diary update :) I didn't eat anything for breakfast (as usual), and for lunch I had a PB and J sandwich (no crust), about a third of fried chicken from a chicken sandwich (no bun). I had two pears with it and a banana.

I'm proud of myself again today. My group in class today all got chocolates and though I was quite tempted to eat it, I resisted and instead gave it to a friend. In fact, I have bags of candy on my desk right in front of me and it's pure torture. I'm going to work out with another tape than a little while after that have some cottage cheese for a snack before dinner.

Hi , You sound like me I am not a breakfast person I usually dont eat till about 11:30 to 12:30 some time around there, I like banana. and cottage cheese to . but not together, I do it them baked Doritoes with my cottage cheese like a dip so good. I know I get a lot of weird looks on that one but hey not knock it till you try it I say LOL .You are doing so good keep it up

Hi Sugarfoot. Yeah, I eat around 11:30 as well. :) I don't liked baked doritoes but cottage cheese as a dip is an awesome idea  Thanks for posting in my diary as well. Appreciated of course.

Overall day recap.
I feel I did pretty darn good. I got in quite a bit of excersise, compared to the past, and I ate quite well.

Breakfast - Nothing (as usual)
Snack - 2 Soup Crackers (don't know what they're actually called)
Lunch - PB and J Sandwich, 2 pears, a banana, oh, and 1/3 of a chicken patty (no bun)
Excersise - Slow 1/2 mile, about an hour of playing "catch" with my friends
Excersise - (A few hours later) 45 minutes cardio and strength training workout video
Snack - Cottage Cheese
Dinner - Some baked chicken, a pickle, cottage cheese with pepper

I'm done eating for the rest of the night. :)

Some high points I forgot to mention - Turned down a piece of chocolate in class today by giving it to a friend. Avoided candy in general though there's tons of chocolate around the house. I've drunk 5 glasses of water, going for 6. But I can't drink much more than 6 tonight.

Thanks X2Change :D I know if I had had that chocolate I would've felt sooo guilty. Which I think is a good sign. Means I really want this weight off. That goes for everyone else who feels guilty about eating at times too :)

:) Thanks for the support Paula. I'm sure I will be

Today so far has been okay. I had a slow 1/4 mile and I played football for about 45 minutes. But I didn't do much so it was more like a lot of walking :p

I didn't have anything for breakfast *surprise*surprise* but I did have a snack about an hour and half before lunch. It was 2 rits crackers. At lunch I had a pb and j sandwich (no crust), a banana, kiwi, and a soup cracker. I had a pickle for a snack. I'll make a list of everything, including dinner, after I have dinner later.

omg cottage cheese with pepper... *drools*
