So I made one of these forever ago, but I cant find it, and never updated it. now, that I'm more serious about dieting, it'd be nice to be back here and be able to get opinions and stuff. everyone seems so nice.

So recently, as in the last week or two, I've been back on my diet, and have cut back on 8lbs so far. every night me and my mom have gone running and most nights played tennis. if we couldn't run for whatever reason(not enough time, cramps, no motivation) we'd at least go out (we go to the park) and walk anywhere for 2-4 miles...some exercise is better than none!! i feel so much better already, I love the feeling. I already feel so much more confident, and having the first inch or two off my waist makes me feel pretty awesome :)

yesterday, i went to work with my mom from 1-3, and then we went shopping.. I got my FIRST bikini:) and I feel ok in it. I also got a new skirt, new halter tops, and thing to go over my bikini on the way to the beach/pool. then we went to dinner, and i ate toooooo much(but no dessert, and only drank water, AND brought home leftovers), but we went to the park and ran like 4 miles afterwards? so I felt ok about it.

today Ive eaten:

1cup special K - 150 calories I think
1 peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread - roughly 300 calories
leftovers, about 3 cups - PROBABLY 600 calories..badbadbad
rice krispie treat(since I have been good lately) - 90 cals

so about 1140 calories..and i'm probably done for the day. I didn't eat a lot of calories, but I was constantly drinking water and I felt full all day.

I also did about 30 minutes of a mixture of cardio/weight lifting videos. as soon as mom gets home, we're going running, and i'm guessing tonight we're going to try to push for 5 miles, i think i can make it.

I ran tonight...only 2 miles though :( we got there late and they kept turning the park lights off. I really tried to push myself though :) and I played tennis for about 5 minutes or so. I'm overall happy with myself. Tomorrow I'm going running at about 8am-9am

Hey there, great stuff on starting your journal! I hope it helps you as much as having one has helped me!!!

Love your avatar pic, lovely horse :)

Well done for getting out for a run, 2 miles is nothing to sneeze at!

coupla things...

1. You should probably be eating more, eating too few calories will cause your body to go into survival mode, and your weight loss will be slower or stalled completely. There are plenty of calculators around to help you work out the optimum amount of calories you should be having in order to lose weight safely and most importantly sustainably... has one, you can use that to enter your foods also, so you get a clearer picture of what you are eating and what you need to be eating :)

and

2.Eating 600 cals for dinner is not "bad bad bad" at all, it is probably fine, depending on what the left over was, however the rice krispie treat is probably bad bad bad, as they have little - no nutritional value and are empty calories..you would be better off with a piece of fruit or 8- 10 natural almonds, a pot of low or no fat yoghurt for dessert :) Food shouldn't be a reward for being "good"

You are off to a good start though, so well done and best wishes for your journey!

Hello Englishrider-runner, good to see you have started yourself a journal again!! ;)

WoW it sure would be nice to have a running buddy that you're so very close with!! 2 miles is a Great start! I think I started with maybe 3 blocks.

Also I would try to use a measuring cup and utensils and to have more of an idea rather than Guess-timating how many calories you are consuming. That could be give or take a few hundred... everyone prefers using a different site for cals, I really like You prob know the routine. ;)

Take Care and remember to have fun! :)

^ Thanks! :) Yeah, I'm pretty sure about like, the sandwich, I read calories on everything...but I hate eating something from a small local restaurant and never knowing how many calories are in it.

So yesterday for breakfast I had another cup of Special K with 2% milk. We went to the park after that, where I walked 2 miles (absolutely did NOT feel up to running..I have no clue why!)

Then when I got home I had a peanut butter sandwich with 1/2 of a cut up banana and whole wheat bread..

For dinner I had the meal they serve at work, which was 2 small pieces of baked chicken, brown rice, and green beans. I also had 2 "fun size" pieces of candy, which I probably shouldn't have ate but they(together) aren't more than 200 cals...so I figured it really couldn't hurt.. esp since at work I'm on my feet the WHOLE time..literally. for 6 hours I do nothing but walk around and work. So I felt like that didn't mess up my day or anything haha..

---

Then today I did 2 20 minute cardio videos...one of them was abs, the others was a full body type thing..boy am I sore! and then when Mom gets home tonight, we're going running again..I'm hoping to do minimum 3 miles. I feel great. Today I had apple jacks for breakfast(surprisingly, they are lower cal than frosted flakes..only 160 cals for the small container) with 2% milk(130 cals). Then for my lunch I just ate 1 piece of whole wheat bread with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, as well as 1 cut up banana. so lunch was 390 cals.

So far today: 680 cals. Not sure what I'm having for dinner, probably some baked chicken. Maybe I'll get Dad to grill some chicken, and then I can do a small salad or something with it. yum

edited, dinner.

So I ended up opening a can of tuna, and putting 1/2 of it on 2 pieces of whole wheat bread. so that was 250 cals. then I had 1 cup of steamed rice/veggies, which was 190 cals. being 490cals for dinner.

Total Today: 1170. maybe I'll have a granola bar when I get home from running, but other than that, I'm pretty sure I'm done for today..:)

today, I was really frustrated.. me and mom were supposed to go running... and she ended up going gambling. I was so mad! I had gotten dressed at NOON to go running, and we planned to go at 8:30 pm.. so I did exercise videos during the day and walked the dog. But we nevre went. So instead I ran a mile on the treadmill, which I was really disappointed in..but I really need to realize I have been active ALL day and ate healthy..so I shouldn't be mad with myself or anything... Tomorrows a new day for running(after work of course lol)

Breakfast: Cereal with 2% milk : 290 cals

Lunch: Cooked cabbage: roughly 200 cals, Sliced ham: 91 cals, Potatos(2 small red):90

Snack: Peanut Butter Sandwich: 300 cals

Dinner: Grilled Chicken sandwich on Wheat: 300

Total Calories for today: 1271
now I'm not sure if seasoning was added, or how many calories that would add. I'd say at MOST it would bump it up to 1500...which is still in my range.

And I ran today, 2 miles, and walked 1...me and mom skipped yesterday, (and I only ran 1 mile at home) so we took it easy today. When we got home we did a 10 minute pilates leg sculpting video. I really, truly do feel great. It's one thing being on a 'diet'...thats pretty miserable. But a lifestyle change is awesome! I love the feeling..I wish I could get my boyfriend to be more healthy, and my Dad. I think it would help with his blood pressure and heart problems, although lately he's been doing better

Woah.. 200 calories worth of cabbage would be like 10 cups..or a whole head of cabbage... unless it was cooked in oil or butter or something???

Glad to hear you are feeling great :) Hopefully your good example will rub off on your BF.

Really? I googled it(lol) and it said 100 cals per cup, and I had a little bit more than a cup..but it was cooked in oil probably :p and I didn't eat all of it.

But yes, I'm hoping so..currently hes a junk food addict. And it sucks because I can look at a doughnut, and gain 3lbs... he can eat 5 of them with a giant iced tea and he still looks great XD He just never seems to gain much weight

Hello Englishrider,

Looks like you're having fun! Awesome! :)

I really like peanut butter and banana sandwiches too! Mmm

IDK Kori, but I have 1 cup of Baby Cabbage often and it's only 100 cals...:leaving: I love that stuff too! HECK I LOVE FOOD....:drool5: oh right yea that's why I'm here....*lol*

normal cabbage cooked without oil/fat is 22 cals per cup :)

LOL re your boyfriend, that will change when he gets older :p best to change those bad habits now. Not that you can tell him though, I am sure he thinks his weight is invicible LOL

Thanks :) My sister-in-law looked at me and was like...."WHEN DID YOU GET SO TINY?!" Haha:)

Breakfast: fruitloops w 2% milk, 240 cals

It was 93*F outside today..not the best for running..:( Ran a mile though, and walked two. Got a nice little workout... I'm happy, I've at least been getting exercise everyday 7days/week. Even if it's just 30 min cardio vid

And to make a long story short, I went to a family party an hour away, started my period, was MISERABLE..and barely wanted to eat. So I had a salad with grilled chicken pieces and italian dressing: 406

Total Calories: 646
I hate that I'm not getting enough calories lately..but it was just an 'off' day I suppose.. I feel fine, and full, and I guess thats what counts

Breakfast: Rice Krispies with 2% milk- (240)

Lunch: Fried Chicken(144), Mashed Potatoes(260), Corn(177) (didn't eat all of any of this)

Snack: 1/2 Banana (67), Nutrigrain Bar (140)

Dinner: Chicken Breast Sandwich (350), Mashed Potatoes(85), Macoroni (90)

Total Calories: 1553

I kept my portions really small today, which was good. and I skipped out on everything sweet, like I have been doing. I also got a good amount of calories, and burned off a big amount.
Also, I ran 2.5 miles and walked .5 miles.. plus worked from 8-4

got back from vacation where I gained about 2.5 lbs... Oh well, I had fun, and we were decently active(walking, biking, swimming) over the whole trip...so I wasn't too let down. But I'm back now, and ready to keep going with my diet.

Today I woke up at 9 and had a bowl of Honey bunches of oats with cinnamon clusters, and then had another bowl at 2:30 for lunch.
600 cals

and then I had a 100 calorie Oreo pack: 100 cals

So, so far 700 cals for today. I'll probably eat a granola bar later, and then have a lean cuisine for dinner.

---

I ran 1.5 miles, and walked another .5. Also did a 20 minute workout video, my abs are killing me!! For dinner dads making fried chicken and some french fries, I think I'll probably just eat salad instead of the fries.

Granola bar was 130 cals... I had a grilled chicken salad, 200 cals.

Calories for today: 1030

Ugh.. I just had a few pieces of grilled chicken for dinner and about 2 cups of fried potatoes...not very healthy.
Let me try to calculate my calories for today... It's not going to be pretty...

3 granola bars(snacks, throughout the day): 130 x 3 = 390
A bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats with 2% milk: about 340
Chicken Fried Steak with Mashed Potatoes: 640
2 cups of fried potatoes: 220
2 pieces of grilled chicken: 200
Reece Cup: 110

Total Cals: 1900

Not as bad as I expected!! Whew...but still, not good, and I made some bad choices...(but could have made worse..I skipped out on a lot of things that are TRULY bad for me and I did really want).

I'm going running tonight though, so thats good... I just feel so bad lately... ever since I came back from vacation I can't get 100% back on track. I'm not as much of a health nazi, but I'm still running every day.. I'm still at 148 lbs, and probably not going to budge unless I get back into being serious about this. Bahhumbug

Walked 1.5 miles, and ran 1.5 miles... I feel awesome! me and my mom were BOOKING it we really picked up the pace today... I'm sore already
