Emily's weightloss diary

your calf is made up primarily of two different muscles so you need to stretch both and not just one but the achilles stretch is good. place your foot a short distance from a wall then bend your knee to touch the wall without the heel lifting off the ground at all, if the heel lifts move the foot closer to the wall and as flexibility improves slowly move the foot away from the wall, repeat with each leg.

Hey good to see that you are back on!!! I am having the issues to my calf muscle are so tight and I notice that when I do skipping roap I only use the ball of my feet my heels never actually touch the ground! I get shin splint when I walk fast for 2 min so you are way ahead of the game on that one ...my DR says it is lack of calcium, when you work out you burn more then your body can store it, I started taking suplement and I will see how that works, he also suggested different streches so I let you know if I find a solution!

Wow Verobc, after only 2 minutes walking? You have it so much worse than me! I'm doing stretches too to work on strenthening the front of the calve, it just frustrates me so much that no matter how many stretches/strengthening exercises you do its largely just a matter of time having to wait for them to heal.

Okay yesterday was bad:
Brekkie- 3 pieces toast (getting back into the cereal habit as of today)
Snack- Raspberry and white chocolate scone
Lunch- Chicken and vegetable wrap
Dinner- Meatballs and pasta and veggies
THEN- Icecream with a hell of a lot of milo, ice-magic, and crunchie easter-eggs in it.

I felt so sick after the icecream, I didn't even want to eat it but my dad had already made me a bowl and I didn't have the willpower to say no at that point. Also I hate hate hate eating after 7pm, I just feel gross if I go to bed still feeling like I have food in my stomach.

My legs are still sore as frigging anything so I only went for an hour walk yesterday, but I feel like this is probably canceled out anyway by the fact I sat on my ass for 12 hours studying without hardly moving, because normally I'd probably get at least 2 hours of incidental walking in a day anyway.

Yesty:
3 Pieces toast,
Chicken and veggie wrap
Skim milk with milo
Variety of Thai food.

Pretty bad, not even gonna add up the calories, soooo much Thai food.

Thai food sounds so good, I could live off that!!!! You have to treat yourself once in a while!!!!!

Haha I practically do live off it Verobc!...or did anyway. My uni is bordered on one side by about 25 Thai restuarants in a row who all have $6 lunch specials, so everyday thousands of students flock there for lunch, its mayhem but so so so delicious.

Okay I'm gonna stop pretending to myself that I'll post every day. I think I'll just post when I get the chance, or when I have a bad day, to make sure I keep myself accountable.

Today was an averageish day:
3 pieces toast (300)
1 choc chip muffin (350)
Some grapes (100)
6 cornthins (300)
Chicken schnitzel and mashed potato (400)
= 1450. A little over, but it didn't feel like I ate all that much.

Yesterday was pretty similiar
Cereal (250)
Grapes (100)
Rice with chicken and vegetables (300)
6 cornthins (300)
Donut (300)
Lollies (200)
= 1450.

I initially calculated my daily calories for a loss of 2lbs a week, but I've realised that I actually have no intention of doing that, more like 1/2lb a week, and I never manage to eat 1200 calories anyway. So I think instead of feeling bad for missing a target I'm gonna re-adjust my target to around 1400 calories a day instead. Honestly as long as I'm getting fitter, eating a little healthier, and not gaining weight (even if the loss rate is negligible) I'm pretty happy

Yesty I ate:
4 weetbix with milk and hot water
1/2 a cupcake
2 Saladas (8 squares) with salad and cheese
Milk with milo
Salmon/rice/spinach/egg bake thing

Not great, not terrible. I went grocery shopping in the arvo though because the healthy food options in the house were running really low, so lots of salad and fruit for me today.

On a random complaining note: Ugh, hung out with a friend today who is about 3 inches shorter than me, about 10 pounds more, and I wouldn't recommend her losing a single pound. I hate how some people can hold their weight really well and look curvy/solid rather than flabby. Being kinda tallish (well, compared to the rest of my family anyway, my mum and sis don't even hit 5"2) at 5"9 but with a tiny frame and no frigging curves I cant hold even a little extra weight without it looking all flabby, the weight just goes to all the wrong places (esp love handles and inner thighs). So unfair how some body types can hold weight so much better than others.

Keep in mind that your friend may think the same thing about you. We are our worst critics and I bet she says the same thing about you - that you don't need to lose weight either! Looks like you are doing great - keep it up and enjoy the weekend.

Chubbygirl: True, we really are own worst critics, and all women want what they cant have. Heck I bet even Giselle Bunchden looks at Doetzen Kroes and thinks "I wish I had her legs" or something lol. Thanks for the encouragement :)

MissJellyBelly:
Thanks for that. Woohoo 4th place team ranking! Getting keen for next weeks weigh-in already, I'm looking on track for that 1lb loss I'm aiming at, yay!

Since you are on the lighter side, a 1 pound loss will add up big for you. Keep at it!! You'll be climbing the ranks with the quickness!

Okay yesterday:

1 1/2 saladas (6 squares) with honey (150)
Salad (100)
1 Tbsp peanut butter (100)
Trail mix pack (150)
Raspberry slice (300)
Veggie stirfry with udon noodles (400)

= 1200
+ 1 hour walk (okay my shins should not be taking this long to heal, I wanna RUN!)
+ 100 situps and 100 lunges

Good day :)... even though mum demonstrated her uncanny skill of making delicious baked goods on days that I'm on track to being healthy...loooove the raspberry coconut slice.

Also just realised that I am awful about including my weight in these postings (although I'd say that's clearly the most important part!) So my current weight is 134, which I think may be a 2lb loss since I last posted my weight?... Need to update my ticker too. Man I'm hopeless.

Okay yesty, and today (why not kill two birds with one stone, today's half over I should be able to predict the rest)

Yesterday:
Brekkie: Cereal 300
Snack: Raspberry slice (2) 400
Lunch: Salad 250
Dinner: Salmon cutlet with veggies and homemade chips 500
= 1450

Walked for an hour, -300 cals

Today: (Bad Emily, bad)
Brekkie: Toast x3 (300)
Lunch: Family size block of chocolate (1000!!!!)
Dinner: Veggie quiche (400)
Snack: 1 pear (100)
= 1800

Shit, its not like that total number is actually all that excessive or anything but 1000 calories on chocolate?! If I was gonna splurge on calories I should have made it something really nice like a T-bone steak and roast veggies and I still could have made it at a couple of hundred calories less. Dammit.

On the plus side I'm taking advantage of the last few weeks of summer-like 30 degree plus weather by spending all my time studying by the pool and doing some laps when I can (did about 50 today, but our pools only like 12 metres I think so its not that much).

Also, figured if I'm putting the work into trying to improve my body I may as well show it off a little so I dared myself to go out the front to get the Sunday paper in my bikini ;) lol.

Also I'm now I'm a brunette, woohoo! actually its almost black, big change from beach blonde, but I think it makes me look kinda exotic.

Okay, off to go for a walk for an hour and do 300 situps (I'm rocking the situps these days!) in order to feel less blow-my-brains-out-worthy about the chocolate :)

Need to add: I weighed myself today (usually only do that on Tuesdays) and I'm down almost a pound since then! Seems like a very small amount, but I never lose more than 1/2 a lb a week and last week I lost 1lb so I didn't have high hopes for losing anything this week. AND this was weighing myself about 3 hours after the 1000 calorie chocolate debacle mentioned above! AND I only have 7lbs to go so every pound is starting to seem like a very big deal! :)

Oh and my mother, who only ever has negative things to say about my weight, i.e. look how tight those jeans are, look how big you are next to your sister, I'm sending you to fat camp if you hit 130 pounds (yes she said that, thank god I was 18 when that happened so she couldn't legally do that!!!) she said today: "Your face looks thinner" and "Its good that you're managing to work out pretty consistently" - pretty epic compliments coming from her!

Moral of the story is: I should eat 1000 calories of chocolate more often :p

Now the only negative thing about today is my sunglasses shaped sunburn

Ugh 15 hour uni day, will be knocking out at least 4 of these in a row so I don't see myself doing any exercise for at least 4 days. Plan for not bingeing: Not carrying any cash on me so I cant buy whatever crap I might usually be inclined to buy. Todays calories: 1500...but that did include 3 donuts for dinner, not good (and not even tasty). Think I will aim for around 1200 the next few days seeing as I wont be exercising. That's all for now.

Emily

Congrats on the pound lost!!!!! Doesn't dying you hair give you a boost?????
I changed mine from light blond to Dark cooper blond I just love my red hair!!!
Congrats and you will get those 7lb off!

Thanks Verobc. And yes the new hair is quite a boost! Not to mention the added benefits of not having to wash darker hair as often and not having to wear as much makeup as before...blonde hair is such high maintenance!

Today's diary:
Okay today was terrible, I'm too exhausted to really care though, I haven't been home for more than 9 hours in 3 days. I got home like 2 minutes ago and have to leave again in 7 hours. Need sleep, and rest, and an opportunity to work out! I'm gonna kill it with exercise this weekend cause this week is pretty much a write-off. Also after next week I get a 10 day break from uni so I'll try and do like 2lbs that week to make up for this and next week, but I'm gonna be at a conference interstate and staying with people who will want to go out every night so it will be hard. Anyway, sleep now x

Yesterday:
Cereal (300)
1 HCT toasted sandwich (400)
1 HUGE chocolate brownie (500?)
Quiche and salad (450)
=1650, bad.

But, it is now the weekend (basically) and time to get my ass into gear. Going to the physio this morning cause my shin splints will be the death of me, so hopefully I'll be able to step up the exercise soon.

Also for some unknown reason my mum said she want to take me clothes shopping and buy me stuff this Sunday (eh, not gonna question it, good things are a-happening). So if I can be really good over the next couple of days it will feel good to buy some clothes in a smaller size. I'd love to buy some skinny jeans in a size 8 but that's definitely not going to happen, but definitely no bigger than a 10!

Mini-update: Went to the physio, got given a bunch of strengthening exercises for the front of my calves (yeah I don't what that muscle is called), had one of those massages that kills you but is oh so good and he strapped my feet and stuff (though I went swimming less than an hour later and now the tape is lose, d'oh...too nice a day to resist though!).

On a random note I've decided it's about time I took my accountability to the next level, so next Tuesday (weigh-in day), and each Tuesday after I'm gonna post progress photos...no baggy clothing/heels/black/flattering lighting or anything else that might help hide imperfections (ha, imperfections makes it sound so minor, like a small pimple rather than 10 extra pounds hanging off my thighs)...if I don't have the willpower to stick to the plan then I should have to punish myself by showing my bloated-from-eating-a-whole-pizza-body to the world slash forum!
