Emily's Diary

Hello, I'm new here and don't really know what this is. But I'm just gonna tell y'all a little about myself and why I'm here. My name is Emily and I can't stick with working out. I've tried different things and I just can't stick with it. I swam for 4 years in high school (but that ended 5 years ago). I also taught swim lessons and lifeguarded for 5-6 years. I really like swimming, but I can't find a place that isn't over priced or too far away. Right now I can't go somewhere else to workout as I don't have a car (that is another story). I'm also getting married in Nov. and want to look better than I do now for that special day. I would just like some tips and encouragement. I also have a dog now, and I was really good at walking him when we first got him. Then we got slammed with rain for like a week and a half and then I was on overnights at work. Now I need to get back into walking him everyday, maybe even twice a day. Does anyone have any tips for a continually changing work schedule? Sometimes I work in the morning (off at 5) others I don't go until 1pm. Any tips or suggestion will be helpful.

Hi Emily, welcome to the forum. If you could post your workouts and nutrition in detail it might be better for people on the forum to give you feedback.

Like you could list your meals:

8:00am Five Chickens and a Coke

etc.

And as for workouts, list what exercises you do on what days and how many minutes you spend doing each.

Hope this helps.

If you cant commit to training i cant see how you will get fit. I dont mean to discourage you but its the fact. Cardio excercise wont help you lose much weight unless its intensive. If you would incorporate jogging and running with your dog that would help.

I work retail. I do get a workout at work, for the most part. Lifting stuff, running all over the store and so on. I've been walking my dog everyday so far. The first day I had to carry him home b/c it was too hot for him. I think I'll try walking the dog everyday (hopefully even twice a day) and see if I can stick with that. Then I'll start working out. If I can stick to something easy then I can think it will help.

Don't Get Discouraged!!!!

Smiley, don't get discouraged. Doing SOMETHING is better than doing nothing. Focus on walking the dog once or twice a day. Make it a real "working walk", as we say in horseback riding. Just because you are walking, doesnt' mean you are not working. That's what I tell my students. When you walk, WALK. Walk faster than you normally would, but not so fast that you will pass out. LOL When you walk, it's easy to go a mile or more. Once you are comfortable with that, perhaps run a half mile, then walk the rest or something. Just DON'T GIVE UP!!!!

I know retail. Been there, done that. It sucks. LOL

Just coming on here is the first step in improving your health! I commend you for that! PM me if you want! I'm available anytime!
