I decided to make a new one. Well I'm 17 years old. I gained over 20 pounds over the summer. Things haven't been going good in my life. I'm an emotional eater and I tried to eat away my feelings. I've never had any confidence. I was the chubby kid that got made fun of in grade school. Gaining this weight had made me become even more depressed. I rarely go anywhere. I want to lose weight to get my life back on track. So I can have confidence and quit hating myself. So I can get back out there and live life again. Not just exist as a fat, depressed, lump.

Anyhoo, here are my goals:
-Lose 20 pounds.
-Eat lots of fruits and veggies.(I already do that, hehe)
-Drink 10 glasses of water a day.(I already do that too)
-Cut back on chocolate, cookies, and candy.
-Cut back on dairy products.
-Cut back on meat.
-Eat mostly organic stuff.
-Exercise at least 4 times a week.
-Go walking and jogging whenever I can.

Why I want to lose weight:
-To get my life back together.
-So I won't have this constant guilt.
-To become healthy!!
-To be fit!
-To get my confidence back.
-To learn self-control.
-To know the difference between want and need.
-To know that food won't fix my problems. (stop the emotional eating)
-I don't have to be a slave to my stomach.
-So I don't have to be that fat kid that got made fun of.
-I can have my time to shine.
-I will be pretty and feel pretty.
-I won't have to be embarrassed.
-I can look good in anything.
-People will take me seriously.
-I don't want to part of the statistic of obese people.
-To see and experience all the better things in life.
-To learn from this experience.

I'm hoping that I will get some support here. I will support everyone else also. Thanks to anyone who took time to read this. :)

Hi Emily Marie,

Good luck with your weight loss. Have you worked out a plan yet as to how you're going to work on your weight?

I'll keep checking in on you

welcome to your diary - glad to have you here...

and nice to see you wanting a healthy existance at your age - it will just make it a lot easier as you age... :D

hi em marie :) welcome to your diary. its great to seeyou want to change. and you will definitely get support here. being an emotional eater is difficult, i'm a big one... and its like learning to walk, learning to react emotionally in a proper way. and this diary definitely works for me.

do you have a plan already? Lena

Thanks!

I don't really have a plan. I'm just trying to eat between 1200-1500 cals a day. And workout 4 times a week.

I've been trying this for 6 months and haven't lost a pound. :(

have you traded up your exercises any? Maybe add something extra or take something out.

What exactly are your exercises those 4 days you work out?

Here are my workouts:
1000 reg crunches
1000 bicycle crunches
100 situps
20 twist lunges each leg
20 back kick lunges each leg
100 sitting glute raises each leg
50 plie squats
50 pulsing plie squats
100 calf raises

Looks like you have a lot of Calisthenic type exercises going on. Where's the cardio? Also, do you have access to any free weights like dumbells you can use to add resistance during some of the training you are doing? Or work out at the school gym using their equipment?

Also, maybe skipping rope or jumping jacks might be something to add in.

How long have you been doing these exercises? (How many weeks)

Are you sure you are getting that many calories? and have you checked to see if that is enough calories based on your activity level?

I'm back. Im at 120 right now. I've done really good with my intake for the past couple of days. I'm finally getting motivated, it hasn't shown up on the scale but I can tell I've lost a little around my waist! yay! I'm really determined to lose this weight. And I keep reminding myself that this isn't rocket sience. Anyone can lose weight with the right mindset. I have been starting to feel better.

I don't go to the gym yet. I know I need more cardio, I'm dying to do it. I don't have weights either. I'm getting a gym membership soon whenever we get another car. My parents and sister share the same car to get to work. It's also usually 20 degrees out here or snowy so I can't go running...grrr. lol I've been doing calisthenics for years. I used to be a gymnast up until I was 13. So 1000 crunches is like nothing to me. lol Yeah I think I will start doing jumping jacks! they are fun..hehe.

Yeah that amount of cals is enough for me. My required cal limit to stay 120 is around 1865. I'm 4'11 and small boned...lol.

I really wish I could go jogging this morning...but it's so cold! I can't wait for spring. I am probably going to go see my boyfriend today. Not sure yet.

Well I'm out for now. I hope everyone has an awesome day. *Huggles*

Still haven't lost anything...

Well I woke up at 2:30 in the morning because I went to bed at like 6:00. Yesterday(well at like 1:00 in the morning) I exercised and ate around 1400 cals. I've just had water so far. Yesterday I ate all my servings of fruit and veggies. I had green tea and took my vitamin. I also had some flax seed. Thats what I have been doing lately.

I wish I could go jogging but it's 20 something degrees and raining. I wish spring would hurry up.

My parents might be able manage this place. So we could possibly be moving to springfield. Theres the Ozark Fitness Center there thats open 24 hours!! Perfect for night owls like me...lol. Thats why I haven't gotten a membership here also since we could be moving really soon. I really want to move so badly. I want a house more than anything. I have to sleep on the living room floor here. lol I work out in my parents really small room. So I'm limited on what exercises I can do.

Still no weightloss. I fluctuate 1-3 pounds every day. I retain alot of fluid, even though I drink tons of water and don't eat much salt. My mom has the same problem. It's genetic I guess. I'm not getting discouraged yet though. I'll just try harder. I guess this is a test of my will-power. If I get through this difficult part, once I am down to my target weight it will be easy to stay that weight. I think of it as preparation.

I want to slowly switch to being vegan. I don't eat alot of meat, mainly just chicken and tuna. I never eat pork, I think we just have to eat meat we should only eat grazing animals. Dairy has been making my tummy upset recently. I don't think cow milk is good for us either. Cow milk is formula for their babies, not us. Just like we breast feed our babies. Most people don't think of it that way though. I also don't want steroids and antibiotics in my body either. I also try to eat organic stuff. I'm against high fructose corn syrup. And all the other preservatives. I believe it's what is making kids fat and people sick.

Anyhoo, sorry for the little rant there. lol. I'm not sure what I'm doing today, prolly staring at the wall like usual. haha! I hope everyone has an awesome day!! :)

Well the scale still says the same thing...
I've been doing good with my intake. And been working out. I'm going to workout every other day. Instead of everyday so I won't overwork my muscles. It's finally not freezing cold today! So I might go running if I feel better. I live with a constant cold or sinus infection. I also have a toothache(a part of my back moler broke off) headache, and backache. But ohwell, it's like this all the time. I'll just suck it up and live with the pain. I think ym back hurts from doing situps. lol.

I'm eating a lean cuisine pizza right now. It's sooo good! I love lean cuisines...

Anyhoo, does anyone know where I can find out what my real required cals are? I've been to alot of different websites that tell me different things.

Somewhere I saw that Steve suggested 15 cals per pound, so for you 120*15=1800. However, I think that is just basic body needs.. what your body needs if you were to sit around all day long and doesn't consider activity. Since you seem to be quite active, I don't think that is the correct amount. ... I'll see if I can find the link for you. here

erm well as you may have read in my journal i am trying calorie cycling to prevent plateaus. theres a link in thre to read up about it and to give you the amounts if youre interested...
