Eman's weight loss extravaganza!

Well I just ran into this site browsing for some weight loss info and I usually don't post much in forums ,but this seems just too interesting.

I started trying to lose weight 2 years ago after i graduated from High School. I was up to about 320 pounds and i'm only 5' 8'' ,so you can imagine how much fun i was having.

I began regularly exercising and cut down on calories by a loooot. I would go to my friend's house every other day and jog as best as i could with him ( i have bad knees :ack2: ) and then do some basic weight lifting with him. During this time i was so dedicated that i refused to eat out and would only drink water.

In a year i got down to about 235 ,but i started to go off track. My life started to get stressful and i started to stress eat just to get my mind off of things and not even care what it was doing to me. I jumped back up to around 250. During this time i kept exercising on and off mainly cardio though. I could only imagine what my weight would of been if i wasn't atleast riding my bike.

Last 3 months I've been trying to get back in the groove ,but I still run into bad situations and i just go overboard on eating. I've tried writing a journal of everything i eat ,but I can't keep it up. Usually last for a few weeks and then something happens or I go on a mini trip somewhere and I just forget about it.

So for the good i've done in the last 3 months. I'm going to the gym 4-5 times a week and i've gone back to doing weight training as well as cardio. Problem is my weight is still 245. I ride my bike on trails a lot. Recently completed a 60 mile trail. I've gotten a lot stronger and I can tell a muscular difference ,but there is still a lot of fat on me.

I think my main problem right now is just getting stressed out and over eating to get my mind off of my problems. The other problem would be going out with friends to restaurants or my family just cooking and bringing me food. I'm mexican so pretty much everything my family makes is not good for me lol. If i'm left alone and don't go out I eat pretty well and cook everything i eat.

Wow I've written a lot. Sorry for the wall of text. I've never done anything like this ,so I'll try to keep an update on what i've been doing. I appreciate any input.

How much weight do you want to lose?
I'd be happy to get to 200 pounds.

What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
I wouldn't mind getting to it by the end of the year.

How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
I'm already exercising regularly and weight training. My main problem would be controlling food intake.

Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
Honestly it's pretty much just me.

How realistic is your goal?
I think it's very realistic

1. What is your current height and weight?
5 foot 8 inches. 245 pounds.

2. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?
190 pounds

4. Why do you want to lose weight?
I don't want to get depressed for being fat anymore.

5. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event?

6. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?

7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
I've known i've had a weight problem my entire life. I just weighted too long to do something about it.

8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
Not going out to eat at all and avoid eating at night.

9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
Yes i've lost around 80-90 pounds in the past. I was very strict with what i did and ate. I enjoyed the feeling of hunger and Idk if that's a good thing lol.

10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
Stress and depression made me slow down.

11. What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work?
Not trying has not worked.

12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?
I've done it before and it's hard to keep up. Especially when certain things you really don't know the exact calories. Such as eating at someones house or going out. But i did find it very helpful to just be able to see the exact time i ate more then anything.

13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?
Lately I've tried to cook at home more then I eat out. I eat a lot of rice,fish,chicken, and pasta. Also eat a lot of spinach and fruits.

14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?
This is random. Mainly go out on weekends or when I'm hanging out with friends. Lots of Italian and Asian places.

15. What are your three favorite foods?
Sushi, deep dish pizza, rice.

16. What are your three favorite restaurants?
This sushi place in downtown. Any chicago style pizza place lol. Subway.

17. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?
Eat out less, Not eat at night, and not eat when i get stressed out.

18. If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?
Less stomach fat and maybe a little bit slimmer thighs ,but that def isn't going to happen they are pretty thick right now from all the biking and cardio i've done.

19. Do you eat when you are not hungry?
Yes when i'm stressed and depressed.

20. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)?
When i get reeealy depressed i've noticed myself doing it.

21. Do you hide your food or eat in secret?
nope

22. Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed?
yes sir

23. Do you eat as a reward?
Mainly just when i exercise a lot. like a long bike trip.

24. Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer?
Never on computer ,but i used to when i was 300 plus. Usually when I do eat i'm watching a downloaded tv show. I hate commercials!

25. What do you normally eat for a meal?
Main things i eat is sandwhiches. Ham, Turkey, Spinach, and slice of swiss cheese with some honey mustard or i steam some white rice and just eat that with some fish or chicken.

26. What type of snacks do you eat?
Sometimes some fruit or a glass of juice. I have some mini bags of popcorn that are like 100 calories. sometimes i get one of those.Also sometimes half a bowl of rice. Don't snack much honestly. Mainly just eat meals and that is probably not a good thing.

27. In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing?
I do cardio for atlesat 30-45 min at gym sometimes more 5 days a week. I need to bring that up to like 6-7 days a week. I also do some weight training 2-3 days a week. Also ride bike on weekends.

28. Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home?
mainly gym

29. What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise?
Biking, Racquetball (but it kills my knees so i haven't played in a while.), I've been enjoying bench pressing lately now that i'm actually making some progress in it.

30. What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals?
Hmmmmmmmmmm. Never really thought of that good question. I guess my motivation is waking up everyday and looking in the mirror.

31. Do you have rewards for certain goals?
Well if i can get to 200 i'll def figure out something to do for myself. :party:
