Eldaweesda's Diary

Hey Elda! Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. Sounds like you are doing a great job!! I feel you on the TOM thing - it's approaching my TOM and my energy level really goes way down and I feel cranky and bloated. I'm so happy the scales showed you something differently! That's awesome!

Hope you have a great weekend :)

Day 13

Today I had to work at the gym from 8am to 12pm so after work I stayed and did cardio for 45min. I guess I am still feeling a wee bit sluggish because for the first 15min on the elliptical my muscles felt very fatigued yet I couldn't get my heart rate to target even though I was working out on level 11? So I got frustrated and decided to hop onto the treadmill with hopes of bumping up my heart rate and get a slimy sweat on! Well, I was only on the treadmill at 5.0 mph for 3 min when my ankles started killing me! Yes, I did manage to get my heart rate at a good level but as time ran on my ankles became naggingly unbearable. So I only managed to jog for 8 min on the treadmill but at least it got my adrenaline going so then I got back on the elliptical and finished my 45min workout with a good layer of sweat to take home. The whole time I was trying to convice myself to leave but my willpower won over my mind THIS time. Overall, I am glad that I kept trying to get to the adrenaline rush as this makes my workouts feel like I achieved something. Not only do I achieve better health and weight loss I also get a natural HIGH! from exercise which seems to be the best part. I know this may not make sense but it does to me. I still don't know what I'm gonna make for dinner, I really don't even want to think about that but I have to. I hope everyone is doing well this week.

Thanks to Angel and Heather for popping by.

Go Blue!:smilielol5:

Hi Elda! Just wanted to say that I completely hear you on the high you feel when you exercise. I've only been doing it consistently for a month now but I definitely can say that if I don't get my workout in now I feel sluggish! That rush in the morning is just an awesome way to kick off the day. (or end the day!)

Believe me, I never thought I'd be addicted to exercise! I used to only be addicted to food, cigarettes and pepsi. Now just food and exercise, I guess I made a better trade off eh:eh:? Thanks for the post Heather!
GO BLUE!!!

congrats on the awesome exercise!! Keep up the great work. Its awesome that you are so pumped up from the challenge!!

Day 14

Another good day for me! We took our kids out looking for dirt bikes for the camping season and I can't wait to be on one. I'm only going to get 30 min cardio exercise today when I go for my power walk with my husband. I decided to take a break from the gym today as I have personal training tomorrow morning and I just know she will make me work hard. I took measurements of my waist today just because I was feeling a little thinner around my middle and I was shocked to see the tape down another inch!!! I am glad that the weight that is coming off is leaving my waist! I now have a 35 inch waist. I will be happy if I reach my goal of 32". Gotta go now, I have to peel potatoes for my Roast Beef dinner that I am making Yum Yum Yum.

Thanks for all your encouragement.

Until tomorrow, :seeya:

Wow great job on removing an inch off your waist! Bike shopping sounds fun, especially since the weather is starting to get better! Enjoy your power walk today and GOOD LUCK working your butt off with your trainer. I had a trainer a few years ago and he was a state body building champion and boy did he work me hard! Those sessions were the longest hour of my life :)

Day 15

I feel so refreshed today! :smilielol5: My personal training was at 8:30am and we worked on my legs today so it was an intense workout!:ack2:

This was my workout:

Reverse lunge on Bosu ball with 15lb dumbell---------3 sets 15
Reverse leg extentions on ball--------------------------3 sets of 25
Oblique crunch on ball holding 6lb ball-----------------3 sets of 20

5 min cardio between sets on elliptical, level 10

Plie on bosu ball holding 15lb dumbell-----------------3 sets of 20
Bosu crunch holding 10 medicine ball------------------3 sets of 25
Plank for 1 min------------------------------------------3 sets of 1 min

4 min of cardio on treadmill 6 incline 3.5 mph

Very good workout today and my legs and back hurt already (mildly) so this is good:drool5: Tonight going for a 3o min power walk again.

I was a little naughty this weekend and had buttered popcorn on saturday night (lots of It) so I will have to step up my will power this week if I want to maintain my weight loss!:lurk5:

Thanks for stopping by with encouraging words Priti, I appreciate your visits.

Until tomorrow, Everyone have a great day!:cheers2:

Oh wow, you are making such great progress! Another whole inch off your waist!! That is so cool! It sounds like your trainer is helping heaps as well.

OMG 3 x 1 minute planks!! I'm scared to even try a plank again. My son used to laugh at me doing them till he tried one!! I will get back to those routines, I keep promising myself but oh they kill!! LOL! Good for you anyway!!

Day 16

I had to work this morning from 9am-12pm. Spring Break is here so I had to bring all three of my kids to work with me. Of course it was packed but it's only three hours, so we survived! So today at 4pm we will be heading back there so I can do my 45min cardio. Tonight I think will be grilled cheese sandwiches or something quick like that as I will not get home until 5pm and by that time the kids will be ravenous! :toetap05: Or maybe scrambled eggs and toast with a small salad, they like that too. My husband is not picky, he will eat pretty well anything I serve him. So for meals today so far I had my morning coffee with a protien bar and a banana for breakfast. Lunch was a cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion on Alpine grain bread, very hearty and good!:biggrinjester: I will be going for a 30min walk again tonight after dinner with my husband so that will be 90 min total for the day.

Thanks for stopping by Felici. Re the Planks - there is a story behind those!

The first time my trainer asked me to do planks, she showed me how first and then told me to do 30 seconds. Well, I let my mouth run off and said "Only 30 sec? I'm sure I could do more than that!" Then she said, "Well, I don't know, they are pretty hard but if you want to try we will go for it" She of course was just calling my bluff, but I am very competitive and I didn't want to look like a fool after making light of this exercise so I had to prove that I could do it. I did it, after almost popping every vein in my head!
and now I have to do 1 min because she knows I can do it. So every time it comes to the planks I suck it up, now she tries to get me to do more and I tell her, you got another thing coming if you think I'm doing more than 1 min. I don't open my mouth anymore about the exercises she gets me to do cause it just makes her make me work harder! She's great though, she knows when I'm about done by the colour of my face (it's usually purple!)

Have a great day everyone!:hurray:

Go Blue!

I don't think I have ever done a whole minute, even after practicing! I was rather mortified that on my first try I couldn't even get the posture for a whole second - lucky no one else was around at the time! Good for you Eldaweesda.

and Yeah!! Go Blue!!

Day 17

Today was another work day for me so I had to go back to the gym at 4pm for my weight training. This is what I did:

Upper body weight training

Push ups (easy ones!)-----------------------3 sets of 20
Ball reverse delt fly 5lb dumbells-----------3 sets of 20
Bosu lateral raise 8lb dumbells------------3 sets of 15

5 min cardio on elliptical level 11 ---------3 sets = 15min

Ball chest press 12lb dumbells-------------3 sets of 20
Bosu bicep curls 12lb dumbells-------------3 sets of 20
Ball tricep extension 15lb dumbell--------3 sets of 15

5 min cardio on treadmill at 5.0mph--------3 sets of 5 = 15min

I just got back from doing a 3km power walk with my husband and I am absolutely beat!:ack2: Now I am going to take a hot relaxing bath and then I am going to sit with my green tea and read my new Women's Health Magazine which just came today! Yeah:hurray: I love to read and I have subscriptions to Prevention Magazine, Fitness Magazine, Women's Health Magazine and now Runner's Magazine. I am like a kid in a candy store when they come, I just love all the info!:)

Thanks for stopping by Maleficent , I think the planks I did on Monday Pulled a muscle in my lower back, it's been a little achy since then!:(

Felici, nice to hear from you again. Keep trying on the planks, if I can do them anyone can. I still don't think I have any abdominal muscles to speak of! It must be shear mind over matter in my case  My trainer is sneaky too, she keeps trying to add more seconds onto my 1 min and I catch her as we use a clock that is on the wall! That's ok cause when I'm with her training, I don't work as hard as I do when I have my ipod on by myself. She saw me working out today and she came up to me and said, "Are you alright?" My face was the colour of Harvard Beets and my whole head looked like I had dumped my water bottle on it! I guess I looked like I was gonna keel over at any moment. I don't work that hard in front of her because then she will try to push me to work even harder! I got her made. I know what she is all about! After seeing me today, I think I'm busted though. This coming Monday's appointment is probably going to be a new weight routine which always makes me very sore the next day. She changes my routine when she sees that I'm not being challenged enough, nice eh?

Enough about me now, Every one have a wonderful night, I'm off:waving:

Day 18

Here is to the end of a great day!:sifone:

Today I had a friend over for lunch so I didn't get to the gym until 4pm. It was nice having a little sleep in today. Once I got to the gym I did my 45min at level 11 on the elliptical. I think it's time that I move to another cardio machine to mix it up a little. I'm thinking on trying this new machine which is a cross between a stairmaster and a elliptical. It is basically like cross country skiing, which I hear is great exercise. I think I will try that on my next cardio day, my trainer calls it the "Transformer" because it looks like the Transformer Toys because you are basically encased by the machine as you use it. When we got home I had left over homemade Minestroni Soup for dinner and then 1 1/2 hours later I went for my 3km power walk with my husband. Now it is time to go read a magazine and relax. Weigh in tomorrow for the Blue Team. Go Blue!!!

Day 19

Today is Good Friday and a national Holiday here in Canada! I actually got up at 7am and ate some fibre 1 cereal with a coffee and an apple. Then I went to the gym, (without my kids! hubby is home) and I did my lower body weight training. It was a good work out, drenched with sweat as usual. I did 15min on the treadmill (in 5 min intervals) again at 5.0mph and this time my heart rate only peaked at 166bpm? I guess my cardiovascular system is improving, if only my ankles and shins would stop hurting. I plan on buying a new pair of runners, my Nikes are about 6 months old and my trainer says I probably need new ones for support of my arch. Hopefully, this will make my legs feel better when i jog and maybe I will be able to increase my jogs to 10min and keep increasing. Physically, I'm not huffing and puffing on the treadmill which is great, it's just the pain in my legs prevents me from jogging more than 5 min? I hope to rectify it soon, cause I want to be jogging 30min at a time by the summer. All in all, this has been a fabulous day.

Hope everyone on the Blue Team had a successful week. Go Blue!!!!

Ahh...I see you eat Fiber One cereal, too. :D

I have never heard of planks before. What are they??

Congrats on your one lb loss this week!! :hurray:

Hi Kimberly, thanks for popping by. If I had a picture it would be easier. The Plank aka The Hover. Place your elbows on the floor directly below your shoulders and your feet together resting on your toes. Keep your body straight - like a Plank and don't let your back arch or drop for as long as possible. It is basically like the push up position but you rest on your elbows and hold the position for a long as you can. This exercise works just about every muscle in your body and your transverse abdominus (one of muscles that stabilizes your core) is the main targeted muscle in this exercise.

Good job on your weigh in yesterday!! Go Blue!!!

Talk to you soon, I'm taking the kids to play at the park now, Oh and I gottta eat my Fibre One - it sure helps in keeping me regular heh heh heh!

Bye bye for now,:seeya:

Hey Elda! Way to go with all your exercising! I'm super impressed with your routines - hopefully some day mine will look half as good :) Enjoy your time in the park!!
