EG's Diary

Sounds like a pretty good way to get back into the swing. Sucks about the gym membership, though.

However, there are a ton of things you can do with dumbells, body weight and movement that are pretty effective (listen to me - hypocrite - I have all kinds of stuff at home that collects dust. if it weren't for a free membership at the college...).

I envy you on one front. All of the things I need to do for minor errands are pretty far away from me. I could do it, but it would require epic levels of riding every day. I live in a pretty small town that doesn't have much in the way of grocery stores, etc. (but we have a McDonalds...WTF?)

Today I am feeling much better. I didn't exercise but I am eating well. Here is the menu:

Breakfast: 3 egg whites, 1 egg, 2 turkey sausage patties, 1/2 grapefruit

Snack: 2 oz deli turkey breast, 1 c strawberries

Lunch: Lean Meat loaf, 1/2 c healthy mashed potatoes, 1 c artichokes/mushrooms

Snack: 2 oz chicken breast, 1/2 c sweet potato (mashed)

Dinner: 3 oz Lean pork chop, 1/2 c brown rice, left over artichokes/mushrooms

I'm not going to count calories right now but if the weight doesn't start coming off with the way I'm eating right now I will start counting my calories.

Wow, that stuff looks like some serious quality food. The kind of stuff body builders eat. You should have no problem getting results out of that. I wish I liked sweet potatoes/yams more. They are considered one of the better foods by a lot of serious exercise people. I'm just not a big fan.

Thanks Karl......I love sweet potatoes. I mash 'em and put I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray and Splenda on 'em. They are goooooood. :drool5:

Let's Start Over: Day 2

Today (Saturday 09/27/08) was a day that went by too quickly. I woke up early and early to me is 1:00 pm since I got out at 7:00 am and didn't get to bed until 8:00 am. I had a chance to clean my kitchen, wash and hang dry some jeans, then get all my meals ready to take to work with me. I'm not going to have a day off at all this week. At this time I'm working Wed, Thurs, Fri and Sat: 10 hour shifts and I was supposed to have Sun, Mon, & Tues off but they are sending me to a class in Austin for work and we are leaving Sun at 2:00 pm. The class is all day Mon. We'll come back Monday night and I have to go to a police department in a different city to check out their equipment with my boss on Tuesday. So there go all my days off. :banghead: I was looking forward to some time with the girls. I'm going to see if they let me take a day off some time during the next week. We'll see. Anyway, no exercise yet again today but no big deal. Cleaning and washing makes me sweat up a storm so I felt like I worked out a little. Here is my menu for the day:

Breakfast: 3 egg whites, 1 whole egg scrambled, 1 turkey sausage patty & a banana

Snack: 2 oz deli sliced turkey, 1 c cantaloupe

Lunch: 2 oz boiled chicken, 1/2 c white rice, 1 c broccoli

Snack: 2 oz broiled orange roughy, 1/2 c sweet potato

Dinner: 2 oz baked chicken, 1 c spinach, 1 c brown rice

Dessert: 1 c fresh pineapple

Aah what the heck.....here are my totals:
1,289 cals / 24.3 fat / 172.3 carbs / 97.3 protein

Hey girl, sorry on the tough luck with your schedule, I hope you get some extra time off, you need and deserve it. It looks like you're doing great for your food, and the working out part will come later. Don't give up!!! You hang in there, and I hope all goes well for you this week. I'll look forward to hearing how things are going when ever you might get a chance. Until then, take care you and god bless!!!

Natasha

good progress

Hi There

Looks like you are eating really well. I also love sweet potato. Tip for cooking without any added oil is to wrap the sweet potato in foil and put in a hot oven for about 45 minutes or until soft. no need to peel.

Let us know if you lose weght this week but with the food you are eating it looks like you will.

Hey Englan :)

Your menus always are sooo healthy. I still have two days before I can start exercising again. My mouth feels better, but the dentist suggested that I wait a full week. Have you gotten your belly dancing dvd in the mail yet? If you did, do you like it?

Thank you very much. I appreciate it.

Thanks for the tip on the sweet potato. They say you can cook 'em like that in the microwave like that too but I've never tried it.

Thanks. It's hard to stay healthy like that sometimes but the food is really good though so I guess that's what helps. I'm glad your mouth feels better. You don't realize how much you take for granted the certain foods you can eat until you go the something I that. I went thru it about eight years ago. I did get my DVD and yes I do like it. It goes thru a step by step process in teaching you the correct way to stand and the most common used belly dancing moves. I've only been able to do it once because I had planned to do it on my days off since it's very time consuming in the beginning when you're learning how to do it. And I haven't had any days off this week so I'll start again next week.

Hey Englan, just stopping in to say hi. I guess your going to be a busy lady for a bit. Stop by when you can.

Hey Karl. Yeah I've been out of town for awhile. I left on Sunday night to Austin for a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children seminar for work. It was a very interesting seminar and very very sad about how many children go missing each year. The good part about the seminar is that we learn how to prepare ourselves if something like that should happen in our communities AND I GOT TO MEET, SHAKE HANDS AND TAKE A PICTURE WITH JOHN WALSH FROM AMERICA'S MOST WANTED!!! :willy_nilly:He is an awesome, sweet and wonderful man. It was an honor to meet him.

Anyway. I'm back and ready to get back on track. Thank you to everyone for stopping by. I'll be checking in on all of you later on. I have another class to go to today in Corpus Christi. There go all my days off. I'm going to try to do a couple of loads of laundry before I go. Take care. God bless.

Thurs - October 2, 2008 (Countdown to Halloween)

Today I begin my countdown to Halloween :pumpkin:. I've gained instead of lost and I'm up to 220 which really sucks but I know I'll be down again in no time. It's also because of "aunt flo" which is going to visit any time soon. So, here I go again.

1:00 pm - Grilled Chicken Chipotle BBQ snack wrap from McDonald's and a small side salad with lite vinaigrette dressing

4:00 pm - 2.5 oz Turkey, 1 c cantaloupe

7:00 pm - 2 oz boiled chicken, 1/2 c white rice, 1 c broccoli and mixed together with 2 tsp each of low fat cream of chicken, low fat cream of mushroom and cheddar cheese soup

11:00 pm - 2 oz baked chicken, 1/2 c sweet potato

2:00 am - 2 oz baked chicken, 1/2 c brown rice, 1/2 c mixed vegetables

4:00 am - 1 c fresh pineapple

I get out of work at 7:00 am and home to bed. Yay for me I'm going to days on Monday which will make planning my meals and exercises so much easier. I can't wait to see daylight during work hours. :)

Got my Odometer for my bicycle and got to test it out today. I rode for 30 min and 5 miles. I was in a hurry to get things ready for work and I had the baby with me. I wish I could have gone for longer but at least I did something.

Friday - October 3, 2008

I go into work today at 9:00 pm and don't get out until 7:00 am so I decided to stop in and post before I have to go in. I'm feeling really well today. "Aunt flo" still hasn't come to visit but I have all the symptoms. I'm a little worried though  That would put a big monkey wrench in my weight-loss plans :willy_nilly: But any child is a blessing from God so whatever happens, happens. So here I go with my day:

Breakfast: 2 egg, 1 egg white omelet (mushrooms, green onions, tomatoes, turkey sausage and reduced fat cheese)

Snack: 2 oz deli sliced turkey & banana

Lunch: 2 oz stew meat, 1 potato, asparagus

Snack: 2 oz boiled chicken, 1 c rice

Dinner: 2 oz boiled chicken, 1 c rice, asparagus

Dessert: 1 c grapes

Exercise: 35 minutes bike-riding = 7 miles (something always comes up as to why I can't do enough - my mom wanted me to run some errands for her so I put it off. My mom's my sweetheart and she does alot for me so I couldn't tell her no. So tomorrow, hopefully, I will get to do my full hour. We'll see.)

Thirty five minutes is still a decent bit of cardio, keep it up. I get lots of days that I can't manage any more than that. You take the opportunities when they present themselves.

News!!!

Well, the monkey wrench has been thrown into my plans. I took a pregnancy test today and it came out positive. :willy_nilly: I guess I'll be seeing all of you guys in 9 mos. I'll be checking in on everybody and reading up on their progress but as for me, it ends here for now. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice and inspiration. Take care. Sniff Sniff Sob Sob......Deep Fried Oreo Blizzard here I come.........J/K :) I promised myself and my husband that I would continue eating well and exercising. This is baby #3 for me.
