Eggs, newbie question

Okay,
I'm getting a little bit confused with everything you can do with eggs. What are Egg Whites exactly? I went to the grocery store and found Egg Beaters which is faster than scrambling the eggs in the morning for me. What else can I do and what is healthiest? Thanks! Also, Is it bad to just eat the white part of the egg raw in the morning?

In my view, theres nothing wrong with taking egg whites raw in the morning..or anytime. I jus wouldnt be able to get it down my throat if I did. :p But its healthier.
You can boil your egss. I put them on to boil before i get into the shower in the morning and by the time I am done, they are ready, have some with some fresh juice, and I am ready for work. I love the egg yolk, so i always eat that as well...but there are some people who separate the two and take the white only...:)

The egg white is the cytoplasm of the egg. It has nutrients which feed the baby (the yellow part.) I think this is sort of like the placenta for humans(it feeds us nutrients while we are in the womb.)

Egg whites contain most, if not all, of the protein in an egg. The yolk contains all the vitamins and cholesterol. If you're looking to eat several eggs to achieve a high protein meal, removing the yolks will allow you to consume more whites. For flavor, I sometimes leave a yolk per 6 egg whites for breakfast.

Also, you should cook or boil the egg just to ensure that you won't catch some freak disease :)

I just use a bit of pam spray in the skillet to scramble them, I can't stand the smell of microwaving them, it just ain't right. :p

Ok, first off, raw eggs, whites or yolks, may contain salmonella, and that'll make you sick as a dog for a few days.
Secondly, cooked egg protein is more bio-available than raw egg protein.

Thirdly, about half an egg's protein is in the yolk, half in the white. However the white contains zero fat...all fat is in the yolk.

Lastly, if you don't have high cholesterol to start with, a couple egg yolks won't do you any harm, even every day. I typically eat 5 egg whites with 2 yolks, 5-6 days a week, for first breakfast.

Fat doesn't make you fat. too many calories make you fat.
We need a certain amount of fat in the diet, so as long as egg yolks don't push you over your daily fat limit, have a few. 2/5 yolks to whites makes for almost normal scrambled eggs...just not as heavy/dense.

Back to the original post, as I have the same question...what about Egg Beaters?

Is there anything wrong with eating those in the morning instead of real eggs?

Egg Beaters

Egg beaters are just colored egg whites. It is probably slightly more healthy to eat eggs/egg whites from the carton, plus it is much cheaper to do. Egg beaters are more along the lines of an on the go b-fast.

I just boil them. Throw some salt and pepper, tastes good :D
