Ectomorph

My body type is an ectomorph, and acording to a site I found I should follow this diet to gain muscle mass:
1. 2g of protein per pound of bodyweight. (200 lb person = 400g Protein)
2. 4g of carbs per pound of bodyweight. (200 lb person = 800g carbs)
3. eat at least 6 times a day. (every 2-3 hours)
Ok so I was wandering what effects would this have on my metabolism? After doing this diet and gaining the mass I want would I have to start watching my weight? I've never had problems with my weight as far as getting fat and I really dont want to. Also I was wandering where the heck do I get all this protein?

Also, if anyone knows of a good otc drug that could help me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

EDIT: just to make sure everyone knows, an ectomorph is a skinny person with a small bone structure, and a ulta pasted metabolism.

if you are really an ectomorph, you have to eat a whole lot to get any muscle.

youre a 200lb ectomorph? how tall are you?

No I weigh 145 and am 5'11'' that was just on there from where I copied and pasted it from the website. And I wouldn't say I am 100% ectomorph but defently not a mesomorph because of my small bone structure. And I know I don't have to eat a whole lot because I've worked out for only a week very strenously and got very noticable differences in my arms, I did it but lifting aprox. 50lbs in weights and holding them at the level of my elbow for 5 mins straight, but I know it wasn't very healthy since it would make my entire body turn red and veins would bulge from my arms and forhead like crazy. Btw anyone know of sites with info on that sort of work out that I just descibed?

well, i guess "a lot" is a relative term, so how about we say, you need an excess of calories. you need to take in more than you burn to build muscle.

i hate to say it, but the noticeable differences are likely just inflammation from the workout. it is unlikely that you could build muscle in a week. but if you keep at it and eat enough, you will definately build muscle.

uhh those are called isometric exercises, if im understanding what you're saying. isometric exercises are not meant to be done alone, or outside of a regular routine. the strength gained through performing isometric exercise is only within 20 degrees of the angle you hold. when you lift weights, u become strong through a wide range of motion. isometrics cause your blood pressure to rise higher than the other methods of strength training. If u have weak blood vessels or heart trouble, u can rupture a blood vessel or develop an irregular heart beat...

Lift heavy, for low reps, not to many times a week and eat a whole lot. Thats the key to gaining mass on an ectomorphic frame ;)
