Eating tips

Hi Guys,

Right say i'm doing a full body workout 3 times a week and running and circuits 2 times a week with 3 days rest with my goal to become more toned and get bigger arms.

1) But what should I be eating? Thinks like Chicken, Cheese, Beef? Basically protien right?

2) How many times a day should I be eating these things?

3) Is it also worth doing protien shake?

4) Any other eating tips?

PS: I want to build-up and tone-up. I'm a bit worried that if I eat too much despite excercising I may get become a podger!!

Thanks

you need to get your protein, carbs, and fats.

you also need to get adequate amounts of each of them, or you will suffer in some manner.

what is your workout like?

how is your diet?

post this and we can assist you further

You should eat 5-6 small meals a day. A protein shake is a good idea. Personally I find it hard to get enough protein without a shake or two a day. Although lean protein (chicken, fish, very lean beef, pork, etc) is extremely important, and the biggest factor in your diet to building muscle, carbs and fats are very important too. Make sure you eat your fruits and vegetables, and good fats (fish, fish oil, flax seed, flax seed oil, etc).

Also, keep in mind, bulking and toning are tough to do at the same time. One requires caloric surplus (without enough calories you won't build muscle) the other requires caloric defecit ("toning" usually refers to cutting, which is just cutting down body fat so you can see your muscles. Losing body fat means you need less calories in than out).

Chris_b, that information is posted all over this site. Check it out some. Read the stickies and whatnot. You will find your answer, and probably understand it a lot better by doing that vs posting a single thread in this section. I'm not trying to ignore your question or anything. I'm just trying to point you in a better direction.

This question should really be in a different section too.

Im actually putting on some muscle and losing the little pot belly i have at the same time. Im 5'9" 160 and starting to look really good. I dont know about those who say you cant put on muscle and drop fat at the same time because im doing it. Actually my weight has not changed, it has just been redistributed in the form of more muscle/less fat.
