Eating Better with/for My Family

Hi All, just joined up here the other day.

I guess I just post here how things are going, so here goes nothing.

I've been fairly motivated my whole life. I had a pretty healthy upbringing including eating choices. But after going to college, getting a desk job and getting married my eating choices haven't been the best.

I think on my own I'd do alright but my wife loves sweets and eating out and I have a hard time saying no. Guess I have the willpower to avoid it, but once it's in front of me I have hard time. My wife wants to lose weight too but she doesn't really want to change her eating habits (in my opinion). Anyway, I need to lose weight and I'm sure there are ways I could be helping my wife too. I've also noticed I tend to go back for seconds on dinner when I probably shouldn't.

I'm at around 240 lbs. Would be plenty happy to break below 200 lbs so I need to lose around 40 lbs. I've been around this weight for a few years though so I really need to do something different. I'm a tech junkie so I'm posting photos of what I eat to my website.

I also have two young kids, so it would be good to set a good example for them too.

Any pointers, thought, ideas, feedback... well, anything would be great.

Thanks for the support,

Aaron

Didn't do so hot today. I think I need to find a motivator. I'm going to try to start eating fruit as snacks.

Also, I think I will try to focus on how good I feel when I eat healthy. Focus on the positive, you know.

I'm not going to change my diet, I'm going to re-balance it. I'm going to eat what I like but make sure I get a fully balanced meal and keep portions within reason.

Mmmm... eating home made ribs at the moment. They taste great.

hi im new here too. It must be really hard having food such as sweets around...Im sticking to a healthy diet right now ( except if i visit family. ) but i live alone and as long as i dont buy the food when i shop, i am ok...because then if i want junkfood say in the evening then I have none to eat! I imagine it must be a lot harder having a family and seeing them eat junkfood. Could you be in control of what foods are in the house and could you ask your wife not to get sweets to help you? And are there places to eat out where you can choose healthy options? good luck !
