hi everyone :waving: and welcome to my journal. my story starts in July 2003 when i got pregnant with my son. i weighed 129 lbs then. i gained a whopping 71 lbs lbs during my pregnancy with him, and it actually could have been more but i stopped weighing myself when i hit 200 lbs. after having him i was determined to get back down to my pre-pregnancy weight. by may 2006 i was down to 169. right around then i started taking Effexor for stress and anxiety. 15 months later i was right back up at 190 lbs. I couldn't figure out why no matter how hard i tried, not only could i not lose any weight, but i was gaining.

a friend helped me figure out that it was from the meds. I had no idea that they would cause weight gain. I decided that I need to get off the meds otherwise i'd just keep gaining weight, which would cause more anxiety and stress and probably a higher dosage of meds! to get off the Effexor is another story in itself; it caused horrific withdrawals and the way the dr. advised me to quit it just wasn't working. i did it my own way and even then it took 60 days to wean myself from it.

i started my weight loss journey on Nov. 12/07. there were lots of changes in my life in 2008; i split up with my boyfriend (and father of my 2 kids), i moved to my own appartment, met someone online in 2007 and he ended up moving in with me in July 2008. he is a wonderful man!!
early 2008 i started smoking cuz there was just too much stress at home. even tho i wasn't following any kind of weight loss plan i still managed to lose weight.
fast forward to 2009 - i quit smoking on Jan. 1st and am now 4 weeks into counting calories.

Breakfast = 2/3 c oatmeal (325), 1 cup milk (100)

Snack =

Lunch = cream celery soup (270), 7 crackers (90), yogurt (100), apple (81), 90 cal snack

Snack =

Supper = roast beef / pasta stirfry (350)

Snack = chocolate pudding w/ cool whip (200), still had some cals left so had a 100 calorie popcorn

Total cals = 1706

Water = 6 glasses

Exercise
30 minutes gazelle = 2.22 miles / 268 calories
10 minutes treadmill = 0.56 miles / 78 calories

Snack =

Lunch = lunch meat sandwich (310), yogurt (100), apple (81)

Snack =

Supper = 4 fish sticks (280), fries (120), 1/2 corn (120)

Snack =

Total cals = 1371

Water = 7 glasses

25 minutes gazelle = 1.8 miles / 218 calories

Snack = banana (130)

Lunch = roast beef and veggies (300), 90 cal snack (90), 1 cup milk (100), 6 chocolate meringues - these are little bites of heaven! (54)

Snack = apple (81), yogurt (100)

Supper = 4 oz turkey (212), 1/4 cup mashed potatoes (95), 1/2 cup veggies (60), dressing (60), gravy (20)

Snack = 1 meringue cookie (20), cinnamon bun (160), 1 cup milk (100)

Total cals = 1932

Water = 6glasses

35 minutes gazelle = 2.55 miles / 308 calories

:seeya: Looks like you are doing Just fine. Congrats on the loss so far! I cant believe it took 60 days to withdrawl from that med. WOW!! That must have s*cked big time. I member if I missed a day of my meds I would be a total B*tch..

And good for you on quiting Smoking. Every time you have an urge to smoke you should do push ups, sit ups, jog in place, etc.. Or drink alot of water :)

Hi there Dwarfie, congratulations on your weight loss so far and the other habits you've been kicking! It sounds like you're off to a great, healthy start - and you can definitely meet your July goal! I can't wait to see how you progress.
