Dumbbell Side Bends

I've recently incorporated this exercise into my workout routine, the problem is I dont feel anything after doing them. I think I am doing them right, could those who do them possibly explain to me how they do them by detail.

i dont feel anything either when idid them but i think they work ur obliques

Actually nevermind, I did them last night and man I felt it this morning! and still feeling them now. It's sore as hell, especially when I bend down or something.

Do you hold a dumbell in both hands or just one at a time? I see people holding a dumbell in both hands all the time. That way the 2 dumbells more or less cancel each other out like a balanced scale and require very little muscle exertion to do.

dumbbell in one hand.
make sure you tense the abs during this.

i also find it helpful to crunch forward a little as i bend...i feel it more.

I typically do side-bends off the 45-degree back extension apparatus. I feel it then, and I feel it in the morning.

No, I do them with only one dumbbell and yeah I kind of lean forward too when I do them and I try to not to move my hips. Do you guys feel them right after the workout because for me I only felt the burn the day after. Well it might be because it was my first time doing them.

side bends with db's by your sides will build obs up which may increase increase your waist circumference making shoulders slimmer etc...i do them with db's overhead with straight arms...do them in front of a mirror and you'll see them working the abs and serratus (fan type muscles on the sides under pecs)

try them holding the dumbells over your head, arms straight in the air. you'll be using baby sized dumbells for a while ;)

did u guys ever hear that weighed side bends can make your obliques larger and more blockY? Iv heard that they give u strong obliques but makes your waist look larger, instead of like the "v" that we all want.

im not possative but id like to know what you guys think aobut this.

Most of the times, i only see swimmers wit the V goin on, and i personally thing it's not that great, but then again i'm a track athelete and long distance runner, so i dunno; i definitely know that i dont have the V though, lol.

atm = at the moment
