Dumbbell Pull over. high pulls

my 1st question would be elbows straight or elbows bent?

I really enjoy this exercise but where should i put it on my push/pull split?
As far as i can tell it works the last most, but the pecs aswell.

should i just leave it out?

Same goes for high pulls.
I love this exercise, but on a push/pull split its tricky to fit in. as it works biceps with front and side delts which get worked on a push day.

high pulls shouldn't work the biceps or delts much at all, you shouldn't be draging the weight up with your arms but using the power from hip, knee and ankle extension to "throw" the weight up. Unless you're talking about an upright row.

Elbows straight would tire the triceps quickly, so if you want it to hit lats and chest, I'd go with a slight bend. I'd put it on my pull day, but it does work both the lats and the chest.

Uh yes... Ive just done some googleing and found out what i 'high pull' really is!
sorry. I'm not to hot on the olympic style lifts.
Your quite right that i ment upright row.
For some reason ive always called it a high pull.

well I'd put it on my pull day. Are you following a pre made program? Anyway, what does your program look like?

so you're just working your legs one time a week? If I were you, I'd go for a push pull with push leg exercises on the push day and pulling leg exercises on the pull day.. for a lot of people, working a muscle group once a week just doesn't cut it, specially if you're not very experienced.

Well i lifted for 8 years before having a 2 year break.
I train my legs once every 5days.

the main thing is that I cycle everyday as its my only form of transport. so I dont want to be blasting my legs too offen as I cant have any complete rest days.
Tho I am doing heavy weights and low reps to try and counter aches from training.

well if you have 8 years of training you know your body way better than what I do. I don't think cycling really interferes much with strength training though, have you ever tried working your legs 2 times a week together with the cycling?

I dont go by weeks, I go by blocks of 5 days. so technically i do work my legs twice in a 7day period. then once in the next 7days.

ok thank you. well i'll think about changing back to 2 workouts.
infact, i used to do all my olympic style lifts one day, then just chest and lats and abs another.
