dreamingblue's Journey

Ahh, dreamingblue, I'm so excited for you. It won't be long before you're under that 300 mark, and when that happens... look out! You will be unstoppable!

By the way, that recipe sounds so yummy. I can't wait to try it. And I'm not sure if everyone is aware of this or not because I only found it from looking at Subway's website. I did not see it on their menu at the store, but anyway, they have "mini subs" that are only 180-190 calories. Instead of 6 inches, they are 4 inches. I dont add cheese or mayo to mine, but I do load up on all the veggies along with whatever meat I choose and it's very filling! So if you're looking for a way to further cut calories, or find yourself craving something while on the go, it's a great and healthy snack/meal.

Ooooh, thanks for letting me know about the 4'' subs, I had no idea.

The only reason that the sub I had came out to 630 calories is because of the chips. The chips were like 260 cals. And I added Mayo and Cheese to my sub. The Mayo is like 50 calories I believe, and I get American Cheese and that's like 40 calories. So its not too bad. I'm not a big fan of veggies at least uncooked veggies, I have issues. Like, I like onions, but not raw, they have to be cooked somehow. lol I only get lettuce and olives on mine. I should have gotten the Baked Potato chips, but I don't like them much, I figure if I'm gonna eat it, I want the real thing. I guess I should just get the baked potato chips next time.

But thanks for letting me know about the 4'' inch ones! I gotta try that.

Just came back from Curves, had a good workout.

Some of the ladies that go to Curves are older, it seems like they go just to be social. Which isn't a bad thing, but it's kinda funny cuz I'm huffing and puffing and they are barely going at it and chit chatting about American Idol.

Some kids came into Curves selling cookies. Are they serious? LOL

it's great that you had a good workout :)

as for the kids and cookies, my sons always make their best sales for school fundraising chocolates at the gym.

That's SO interesting! I wonder why that is. lol... cuz it doesn't make a lick of sense to me.

I guess people just want to help the kids and its a great place where a lot of people are in one spot together.

LOL! i'd be MAD if that happened at my gym....hehehe

to be honest though, in the past i'd probably have been their no.1 customer. i remember a few years back i'd joined a gym that had it's own restaurant, after my workouts i'd reward myself with a big a$$ burger, fries and a milk shake to top it all off....lol! and i wondered why i didn't loose weight. goodness, i've come a long way.

glad to hear you had a great workout though!

What type of chocolate are you eating? They say an ounce of the dark chocolate is actually good for you. Maybe try that?

Blancita,

Yep, as long as the calories are okay, I'm fine. Though, I really need to stop eating it anyway. lol. I even have GERD and chocolate is one of the triggers, so I should know better.

Cherry,

Wow, you sure have come along way! That reminds me once that a friend of mine and me were babysitting a friend's house, and she had a treadmill. Well we decided that we were gonna workout, and we worked out for about 40 minutes I guess, and afterwards we were tired. We got hungry and went into her kitchen and made a chocolate cake! LOL.

But anyway, I don't understand why they'd put a restaurant in a gym. Especially one that serves fatty foods! That's crazy. lol

YMCA,

Hmm, I might just try some dark chocolate. I've been eating Milk Chocolate.
Thanks for stopping in!

The good thing about Curves is that you can can do it as easy or hard as you want. That's why it's perfect for any age bracket. Today I went HARD. I ran instead of walked. I did the machines as hard as I possibly could. I was grunting and panting. lol.

The only problem, now my knee is hurting me slightly. I've always had problems with my knees. I fear that I will eventually have to have a total knee replacement, even if I get thin. My mom has had two knee replacements. It's something that I will work on. I will try to get my thighs and my calves as fit as possible so they can support my knees, since there is no workout that can help the actual knee.

But ANYWAY. Right now in the present, I did pretty good today.

It sounds like you did great! Bummer about the knee though. I'm not familar with curves' set-up, but do they have non-impact activities? Or perhaps things you can do to strengthen the muscles around your knees? In any event, I sure hope your knee hangs in there until you at the very least get to your goal.

Hi Dream! You are doing awesome. I just wanted to stop by and read your Diary =) and get to know you better.
Hey..about the knees. I am so familiar with joint pain. Have you tried icing them? When I was told that I just blew it off..then my elbow got really bad because I didn't want to slow down so I did... I iced it. And wow.. no pain the next time I used it. I iced it anyway after the next work out and since then I just have to do it randomly...on my hip, my back, my knee and my ...er... lol- just kidding.
Wow you have done so good. I might take a look at Curves. I'm bored with the same old thing.
Keep going! And thanks for stopping by my diary =)

Curves' machines are pretty easy on the joints,it's just a circular workout going from machine to machine and walking/running. I'm pretty sure my knee is hurting from the walking/running that I'm doing on it. Hopefully it will ease up some. I'm pretty sure it will, I'm not worried about it that much now, but I do have some concern for how it will be in the future.

Thanks for stopping by! Nice to meet you. :D

I've done the icing thing in the past and it has helped. I think I might try that again and take a motrin to reduce any inflammation.

You should really check out Curves, the only down side that I see is that it will get boring. I imagine that any exercise routine can get boring anyway, which is why its a good idea to switch it up so you don't lose excitement.

I signed up for a year contract with Curves, and even though I know that Curves will help me, I'm kinda regretting it A LITTLE BIT, because I think I may get bored.

If I get bored I think I'll just have to start some thing else on the side.

Thanks for stopping by again, and you have done very well yourself. :)

Morning, Dreamingblue. Not sure if you have heard of this, or if you'd be interested in trying it, but there's supposedly a great alternative out there for pasta lovers called Tofu Shirataki Pasta. Only 20 calories for 4 ounces of noodles! Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to try them because my local grocery store says they're all back ordered for several weeks, but I cannot wait! Apparently, they come in spaghetti noodle form, angel hair, and fettuccini.

you know what? i was discussing this with someone else on the forum just the other day. the thing is my workouts are about 2 hours (and on some day treadmill only) and on those days especially my knees really hurt...i actually bought myself a can of 'deep heat' spray, so i apply it once in a while, i'm trying not to use it everyday. i actually used to do the step-aerobics class but it was very taxing on my knees so infact decided to quit that class untill i get to a lower weight.

i guess the big question is are we hurting our knees now for future years to come? but on the other hand, with our weight we are still hurting our knees now anyway....it's kinda like being between a rock and a hard place. But for me i decided i'll just keep going on because after many months when i get to my goal weight, then my knees won't be as stressed anymore from the weight i'm carrying and exercise will be less strenuous on them.

A good exercise with no knee impact is swimming, but at my weight i wouldn't be caught dead in a swimming pool! (which is sad because i love swimming), so only until i get to much less can't swim. I think the bike is also supposed to be good as well since it doesn't have as much impact (but in my case for now i can't do it because i'm really short, 5feet, and with all my weight have a hard time getting on), so again untill i get to a certain weight can't do it.

sorry to ramble on, it's just that it's also something that keeps nagging me at the back of my mind. but i always tell myself the best way is to just loose the weight now because that's what's best for my body/health for now, i can only hope my knees won't be a problem in the future.
