Dominique's Journey :)

Today i went to work from 6 am to 2 so it really set off my eating schedule
Breakfast: 1 apple and 1/2 cup of blueberries - 115 calories ( i dont like eating just fruit but in the morning for work its all i have)
Lunch: A smoothie - 158 calories
Dinner: (my dad made chicken enchiladas so idk the exact calories) i had 1 and a half enchilada with black beans and spanish rice - approx 690 cals
Snacks: 1 fruit snack, 1 serving of pirates booty, about 8-10 cinnamon pretzel bites (we went to the movies again, and i wanted to try those bites but they were gross i dont even think i had that much, 469 calories
All together i had 1443 calories and i didnt work out due to my busy day but definitely tomorrow

Hi dominique. I would get some small tubs of yoghurt & add one to your breakfast. I think you are eating too little for breakfast & lunch most days. You need some protein with all of your meals. By spreading your protein intake throughout the day, your muscles receive a constant supply of the amino acids needed to build muscle and boost metabolism. However, if you consume too little protein at breakfast and too much at dinner, your body can't build muscle through the day and is forced to oxidise and store protein as glucose or fat at night. Protein also fills you up.
Do you have a wholefoods place nearby where you could buy some healthy snacks like unsalted almonds? Nuts can be high in calories, but a small handful is a very nutritious snack. (I had to look up pirates booty!) There is so much to learn about nutrition but it is well worth it. I think it's great that you are working towards being healthy :)

oh i actually have unsalted almonds and i eat a couple before working out if im starving and today i even told myself i should start getting some for quick breakfasts along with the fruit. I dont have a whole foods but there is trader joes up the street, i want to find something healthy for my breakfasts and lunches

Today once again i went to work at 6am. which messes up my eating schedule. * bc of that i had brunch instead of the separate meals
Brunch: 1 smoothie, mini pancakes and a sausage patty (from work) - 520 calories
Dinner: leftover enchiladas, spanish rice, and black beans - approx. 690 calories
Snacks: 1 oz bag of hot cheetos :( , and mini wheats - 465 calories
I was able to burn 514 calories, i ate 1675 with a net of 1163

I really imagined my 4th of july food diary to be filled with lots of food like, bbq, but surprisingly it wasnt. Even though my calories were within my goal of 1750, I really need to start eating more nutritious, because today was quite horrible.

This is how today went
Breakfast: 1 omelet, made of 2 eggs about 2 cups of spinach, red onions, mushrooms and a pinch of cheese, and an apple -305
Lunch: a six inch sub from subway (blt, spinach instead of lettuce, wheat bread, onion sauce, onions and banana peppers), 1/2 bag of jalapeno kettle chips also from subway, and a white chocolate cookie - 725 calories
Dinner: (al this is fried unfortunately) 4 fried oysters, about 10-12 really small fried shrimp, and fries - 457 calories (idk how many calories were in shrimp so i estimated)
Snacks:1 fruit snack, and literally about 12 fries from work ( i worked weird hours again and got hungry around 6:30)
excersize: i wasnt going to today but i surprisingly was able to right before work i burned 371 calories and i ate approx 1710 calories a net of 1339

Today in my opinion was terrible, espescially the subway cookie, because we had gotten our sandwhiches and we were about to leave and my dad says those cookies look so good, and my sister joined in and said yeah. Then my dad is like "you should buy us some cookies to bring home for your mom since she isnt here with us" of course i caved in because they were just baked and they did look amazing. Its just unfortunate because 1 cookie is so many calories that couldve been avoided and this week is my sister's birthday and ik we'll be eating out for a couple days :(

I really enjoy reading what other people are eating! :) I don't think you did all that badly even with the cookie, it could have been a lot worse and you are being really mindful about what it is you're eating so it's still all progress I think :)

thanks! i really need to stop beating myself up about these things lol and i also love reading what people eat it inspires me.

Today:
Breakfast- Mini wheats 308 calories
Lunch- 1 smoothie, 4 stuffed jalapenos from work and 1 egg roll (i need to stop eating from work but when your just smelling the food for hours on end it just entices you to get something and normally i could easily eat about 10 jalapenos so i think i didnt go too far with 4. ) - 578 calories
Dinner- i had hot italian sausage with 1 piece of bread - approx 560 calories
Snack- cinnamon toast crunch cereal - 188 (theres just something so satisfying about cereal at night, always has been a problem for me)
I ate 1634 calories and unfortunately burned 0 due to weird work hours once again

My problems today was the snacky food from work and the sugary cereal for snack, but a little backstory i was/am employee of the month for june and with that i got 5 free meal coupons, and im proud of myself because i havent used any! which the day i got them i was like okay cool im going to order so much food, but i only used 1 to give to a man that didnt have money for food. I think i should just continue to pass them out to others who are hungry or to my parents :D

Congratulations & well done on passing them on. You're a good person Dominique :)

lol today was a hot mess (it was my sisters birthday)
Breakfast: 2 eggs and 1 blueberry pancake (i wanted steel cut oats but everytime i make them they come out so hard and terrible) approx 290 calories

Lunch: I took all of you guys' advice on trying out a new healthy recipe. I made a pita pocket stuffed with, avocado, tomato, grilled onions, mushrooms, mozzarella (low fat) , spinach and instead of sour cream i used greek yogurt! i was surprised it tastes just like the daisy sour cream i get. And my mom loved what i made and suggested i make that for dinner next week. - approx 237

Dinner (terrible): we went out to this place called fuddruckers and i got a 1/2ib burger with pepperjack cheese and loads of veggies also w onion rings. I could not finish it i ate about 60% - approx 858 calories

Snacks (terrifying): we went to coldstone and i got a small serving of birthday cake remix ice cream (very fun and delicious but so bad) and chocolate cake after dinner. - i didnt finish the ice cream so it was approx 481 calories and idk the calories for the chocolate cake but im assuming 300-500 (it was a pretty small piece)

Today was so bad, from the things i could calculate i ate approz 1866 calories (but im assuming i had about 2500?) i burned 502 calories. But proud of myself because my older sister came and was going to treat me and my younger sister to straw hat pizza for lunch as well as the coldstone but i decided to make the pita instead and just bring it to straw hat instead of having pizza.

Fridays are the days i weigh myself and im so scared to weigh myself bc this week was terrible, but i need to face it and work on doing better next week, I already know tommorow will be TERRIBLE, we are going to six flags and my parents are already talking about funnel cakes, panda express, frozen lemonade, etc. Im going to try hardest to only drink water and to not have funnel cake.

Excellent!:D Win/win!

Don't be terrified; nobody will physically force crap into your mouth. Plan what you want to have and what you don't feel is worth the calories, aim for maintenance and enjoy yourself!

Hi there, I just got started on a diary here too, and I have read through yours.

Just a thought, and please nobody lambaste me - this is just something I am going to try - weighing myself every day.

Now hear me out. My mom was bulimic and anorexia while I was growing up, so I witnessed a lot of disordered eating behaviours and attitudes towards body image on general. She would get obsessed with the scale, and every few months she would throw it into the swimming pool! Then she would get a new one and do it again :0

So in principle, my personal opinion was that you should never weigh yourself regularly because it makes you obsess.

Fast Forward 10 years or so. I have been through about four 6-month-long phases of weight loss, where I got to a healthy weight and kept it off for a while, either following dieticians' or nutritionist plans, and once Weigh-less (kind of but not really similar to weight watchers). Every time I lost weight over a period of time, I weighed in weekly or every 2 weeks. I found myself nervous at going to weigh because they were these "occasions", and if the number was higher (even though it could have been water weight that day), I would beat myself up.

Then, during the time period that the weight was regained, I typically just stopped weighing myself and carried on as best I could, eventually reverting back to old binging habits due to stress. The when I weigh myself again, I realise how far gone I am again! :(

Now here is what I am trying at the moment: weighing myself every morning after going to the toilet. I am lucky enough my body works like clockwork (TMI). This way, I desensitize myself to fluctuations in the numbers. This way, maybe I don't HAVE to regain the weight AGAIN this time - maybe I can keep myself conscious enough of my weight (and chart it, like a graph - many websites to do this) - that if I start slipping, there is less chance of me remaining in denial.
So there is my 2cents... ok 80cents

I promise not to hijack your diary again :D

I think daily weighing can be helpful to get a feeling for how your body works - IF you can use it as just that. Different strokes for different folks and all that.

Good luck with the theme park! Just keep in mind what you're eating and decide what you want and what you don't :) You don't have to refuse everything to still do good but I think you have a great attitude and you'll do fine even if you want to have some lemonade or something!

I weigh myself every day and have done for pretty much forever but I try to only really take real notice of how it changes longer term. There are some great apps that show you sort of a moving average and even out all the weirdness. I guess I just love keeping all the data and information about everything, haha :D
