Does a lighter barbell make a diffrence?

Hey,

I usually workout at home but I went with a friend a couple of days ago to the gym and noticed something. At home I use a 2kg barbell which is lighter then I'd want but its what I'm stuck with for the moment. Anyway at home I'm benching around 45kg which seems very difficult but once I went to the gym I benched 60kg and it was a similar difficulty. The only reason I can think of is that the gym barbell weighs 20kg. Does the size of the barbell make that much of a difference? Just wanna know because if it does I may have to invest in a better barbell!

Thanks.

the size, like how big it is can make a difference, if its ticker, on your grip. If you mean the weight itself. well, the more the barbell weighs, the more you lift when you lift it.

I mean weight wise. For example,

One barbell that weighs 2kg and the plates weigh 43kg

The other barbell weighs 20kg and the plates weigh 25kg

Both add up to 45kg but the first has alot more weights on a lighter bar. Just wanna know if it makes any difference?
