do push ups really help?

you are mistaken

pushups will help you develop strong pumped muscles but they will NOt help you reduce the fat level in your chest area
for that you will have to do some aerobic exercise like running, walking or enything else.
in adition it is recomended that you will change your diet plan in order to reduce the fat in your food

it will help a little though. you can build a nice base behind any excess fat, which will minimize the look of the flab, but as ace stated, aerobics are the key.
 
my two cents...

many are under the assumption that they can "target" body parts and burn fat. Truth is... every body is different and when they begin to lose weight, certain body parts burn faster than others... genetics man... they are just unpredictable at best. Ask any woman who has those "saddlebags" and the rest of her is just fine.... she will tell you all about it man.

dis is another example of what many ppl think is a good idea but in reality it is a HUGE myth


SPOT REDUCING... u cant workout one body part and hope for a difference. if u want to reduce ur fat u hav to concentrate on ur entire body and mostly on cardiovascular activites
