once in a while when im exercising such as running or jumping, i get a sudden piercing pain in the center of my foot and it hurts like crazy
It could possibly be plantar fasciitis, or pes cavus (high arch). You might want to get it looked at by a podiatrist

proper shoes to fit your foot is VERY important. If you have a high arch and are using shoes that are desinged for a flat foot you could be causing serious damage.

Go to a high-end shoe store that specializes in running shoes. They will able to look at your feet and tell you if you have a high arch or flatfoot and also suggest a good shoe in your price range.

If you run a lot, invest in a good pair of shoes. You may have to pay $100 or so, but its well worth it in the end.

Yep if its happen often i would see a doctor.

I have very high archs - if i gently press my foot on a wall you can see under my foot so to speak. In otherwords it won't be totaly flat.

I don't have any foot troubles only the fact that most sneakers are too narrrow for my foot.

i get it when im skipping barefooted in the basement

Barefoot impact training is a bad idea. I'll echo that you should get two pairs of shoes: a good pair of cross-trainers for impact training and a flat sole, such as Chuck Taylors, for lifting.
