This morning I saw the chocolate cake in the work kitchen. I grabbed a peice and it's sitting at my desk. 3 bites and I'll throw it away.

Hi! I saw your post in the 20 or less thread and thought I'd check out your diary. We're the same age (I turn 33 in a couple of months) and both shorties...my boss calls me a "tall pygmy":) ... I had a thought about your choco cake...I am always surrounded by delicious tempting food at work and I used to say "I'll eat half this muffin" etc. but ended up eating the whole thing...finally figured out (despite the strange looks I get sometimes) that if I just take the exact amount I plan to eat (1/4 muffin) and walk away with that amount only I totally enjoy it and never want to go back for more.

I know. I was doing that, but the slices were so thin I thought I should just take the whole thing and not look like a weirdo. I did take only 3 bites, granted it was on the frosting side, but I enjoyed every morsel.

I just wanted to comment on your weight loss. You are an inspiration! About a year ago, I was a stay at home mom and was able to get to a cycling class 5 days a week. I got down to 128 pounds, 19% body fat last April.
Then, I found out my husband was emailing and chatting with some girl  and it devastated me. For a week I didn't eat and felt like such a loser. I think I must have gotten to 120 pounds because my jeans were incredibly loose. Before this all happened, I thought my life was great. I had a wonderful family, a husband who I thought was faithful and loved me. Things just crumbled within days.
We began to talk again and are still working things out, but from April to now it's been a yo yo of emotions. :( Before there were days that I would eat and not care what I put in my mouth, other days I didn't feel like eating and would starve the whole day. When it came to exercise, it was so inconsistent, 1-2 days here and there and I got back to 138.
When I went back to work, I was finally able to exercise and eat more healthy because I wasn't at home moping around and the kids weren't a distraction or an excuse to not go to the gym.
My relationship with my husband is much better and he knows that he totally messed up. It's been helping me with my healthy habits because you just feel good about the life that you're living now. Anyhow I don't know how this relates to your weight loss, but when I saw your current weight number and %body fat, it brought me back to that time. I'm gonna get there again, but this time it'll be the right way.:D

Breakfast: half a chicken salad sandwich, nonfat, sugar free medium caramel highrise, 2 yogurt covered pretzels. I made a protein smoothie and left in a rush this morning and it's sitting on my kitchen table. What a wast...
AM Snack: Leansource bar with fruit cup
Lunch: D'amico and Son Turkey Sandwich and 4 oz yoplait yogurt
PM Snack: Leansource bar with Fruit cup
Dinner: Lasagna dinner at my daughter's school

Exercise: I'm going to try and get in some weights this afternoon and maybe some light cardio, but I'm leaving early from work to go to a school function. I guess we'll see how that will go. I may just have to work through lunch to get out earlier.

During lunch yesterday, I got in 45 minutes on the treadmill and afterwards found the scale at the gym and hesitantly weighed myself. I got on, closed my eyes and opened up to see alittle under 2 pounds GONE! I couldn't believe it with all the junk I was eating this week. I'm getting there, slowly but surely...

Breakfast: Bruegger'ssoftwich with PB (took out more than half of the PB that was put on) 4 oz yogurt, fruit cup
AM snack: Leansource bar and fruit cup
Lunch: 1/2 Smoked salmon wrap (cream cheese, capers, tomatoes, onions), yogurt
PM Snack: 1/2 Smoked salmon wrap fruit cup
Dinner: ?

Exercise: During lunch Weights legs and back/biceps and abs
After work - cycling class 45-50 minutes.

I took a break from working out yesterday. It was a busy day and my body needed the rest. I looked into the fridge this morning hoping to make a spinach salad for lunch today but there was none. Ended up going to Bruegger's for a bagel and wrap. Hopefully I'll be able to get a working in during lunch and the cycling class after work, since emily doesn't get out until 530. Volleyball tonight and I'm going to be doing some "personal training" with some of my girlfriends.
Weird that they come to me for fitness advice when I'm running around like a chicken with its head cut off during my workouts just so I can get all my exercises in. :p I'm glad it's Friday

I didn't get a good AM snack in. Just ate the rest of my fruit cup that I was supposed to eat from breakfast. then I headed to the gym and did weights on legs and back. I wasn't even struggling with the workout, even when I tried to add more weights on. Maybe with the book that Steve recommended I'll have more results.
Lunch was actually pretty filling: half of the smoked salmon wrap, 2 bags of baby carrots, 4 oz yogurt, an apple.
PM snack will probably change to protein bar and apple.
Dinner: the other half of the wrap.

I'll probably eat the wrap on my way to volleyball. Still planning on the cycling class after work.

your diet sounds really good! i might have to follow the one you just posted someimte .. do you know how many cals it is?
it looks like it would be really filling

I'm not sure how many calories I eat daily. I just try to choose items that are clean and have good nutrients. My protein shakes are usually about 300-400 calories. My snacks are about 200-300 and meals are about 300-400. the Salmon Wrap at Bruegger's bagels are about 410 calories and if you eat half during lunch and have some vegetable and fruit and yogurt, the fruit and vegetables help with being full.

My diet use to be really bad. I still get cravings, but I'm a lot more in tune with them. I hope that was helpful!

yeah it was chick :) i havent had salmon for ages..what type of salmon do you have? like is it pink or red and is it tinned or smoked

Friday I ended up going to the spinning class and got in about 45-50 minutes and got my heart rate up to about 170. It was a good workout. I ended up staying at home after work instead of going to volleyball and ate some salad and a hoagie sandwich. People came over for Eddie's party and there was food every where. I did have some dairy queen ice cream cake, but nly the fudge part.

Saturday I got in 90 minutes of spinning and have decided that my arms are too big. Anyone know how to make them more toned? I figure when I lose the 20 pounds my arms will be smaller. That's the motivation I need. Anyhow, I got sick and my throat feels like someone put a rake through it. I usually get a spinning class in at 430 today and I might do that if I feel better today.

My goals this week: Cardio everyday, treadmill or precor.

I'm heading to Texas Thursday night until Monday, so I'm going to see if I can get some workout in those 4 days...let's hope so.

Breakfast: 2 whole wheat bread, 2 tsp PB, 1 Tsp Honey, 4 oz yogurt, 3 slices of canadian bacon
AM snack: green apple slices and protein bar
Lunch: Mixed greens with balsamic vinegar and honey and edamame beans, carrots
PM Snack: green apple slices and Protein bar
Dinner: ?

Exercise: Weights - Legs, Treadmill Intervals (5 minute warmup, 5 minutes increasing 0.1 every 30 seconds to 7.0 mph, 5 minutes alternating 1 minute between 7.0 mph and 6.0 mph, repeat last 10 minutes 4 to 5 times)

Went to the gym during lunch and got in some lifting on the legs. I'm gonna need to add more or change is up with lifting. Hope that book comes soon.
But I'm glad that I got in something with me being so sick. I was on teh Precor cardio thing for about 30 minutes and I felt like my throat was being rubbed with sand paper. Good thing I didn't hack all the way through.

Tomorrow I'll just do some steady state cardio and chest/shoulders/triceps.

I'm totally sick. Sinuses hurt and I shouldn't be at work, but I am. It's 840 and I've only had some vitamin water for breakfast. It's definitely not going to be a good eating day...

Where in MN do you live? Hubby and I lived in Edina for a year from Aug 2000-Jul31 2001. We loved it there, other than having no family or friends within 17 hrs of us.

Also, there is something I miss from the Byerly's grocery store there... their tomato basil soup is the best in the whole world (that I have tasted) combined with their asiago bagels and a scrumptious lunch for a cold day is had by all. Yummmm. Man, I have wanted to come back and get some of that for just that reason!

I was born in Edina! I would visit my dad during summers there and I rode my bike down a beautiful path to the Byerly's. Small world!

It sounds like you're doing wonderfully. You are absolutely right that losing weight will make your arms smaller. There is no way to target fat in a specific area :-( But, if you do strength training the muscles underneath the fat will look amazing when the fat comes off.

that's what I figured. I will continually do the strength training just to get those sexy arms. thanks!

Still sick. I'm going to try some SS cardio today, just to keep the body going. Eating is really off. I went to bruegger's and had the Denver sandwich and a gingerbread loaf. Not sure what to eat later. I did get the Salmon wrap again, this time with light garden veggie Cream Cheese.
