Diary of MNexercisegirl

Just stopping in to say hello, and that I hope you feel better!

Eating healthy (eating enough or trying not ot over eat) when sick is hard, but you can do it!

thanks so much for the encouragement! seriously, everyone has been so helpful and supportive here. I think I'm gonna stay :D

Tomorrow I start getting back to working out. I've been out for awhile and so I need to ease myself in again. Fitday has been really helpful with my food intake. The past two days at the office have been really bad with food. We had a training session during lunch and they ordered pizza, I had 3 slices, but they were small. Today one of my co-workers won a lunch from chipotle, so we're having that. I ordered the salad thinking that it was going to be a healthy choice, but the vinaigrette is the one thing that's making it look horrendous. I already put the numbers into fitday and it's not looking good at all today for fat calories.:( I guess more work tomorrow.

yeah it was chick :) i havent had salmon for ages..what type of salmon do you have? like is it pink or red and is it tinned or smoked

Sophie, I'm so sorry! I was reading through my enteries and did not see this at all!
The salmon I get with the wrap is the smoked salmon that bruegger's has. If you don't like the texture of raw fish, then I don't recommend eating it. I'm sure you could make your own with baked salmon.
I love sushi the raw stuff and the cooked stuff, so the smoked salmon is one of my favorites.

I was told to start measuring and keep track of my progress, so here it goes. My weight is still the same, as far as I know. I haven't been on a scale since last week, so I'm keeping it as is. Other body measurements:

Left Arm: 12.5 in
Right arm: 12.25 in
Left thigh: 23.5
Right Thigh: 23.5
Waist (1 inch below my bb): 33.5
Hips (widest part): 38.5

Body fat: ?
What I plan on doing is have my body fat tested by a trainer at the gym since it's free. Should I be doing the body fat test weekly also? or monthly?

My plan starting tomorrow:
Thurs/Tuesday: SS cardio (40-50 minutes)/HIIT
MWF: Weights Full body (Full Squat, Incline/bench press, Row/Pull-up/Pulldowns, Deadlifts)
Sat/Sun: Cycling

It's a lot, but I need to be dedicated, anal if I have to be. I've never been able to stick with anything regarding fitness for very long. I start seeing results after 4-5 months and then I stop or slack off or I get sick and I make the excuse that it's just too hard to get back again. I've seen what dedication can bring in cym's diary and I have a great online advisor who is never tired or repeating the same things over and over again. It's all up to me and I'm ready to start my journey...

I'm getting on the treadmill today after work. Weather here has been nasty. I'm hoping we get out early enough so I can get home, get my run in, then cook dinner.

Lately cooking has not been fun. I'm so clueless as to what to make these days. With Minh and the kids being so picky about food, I can't really get them to try the healthy stuff. Minh's very "I want my vietnamese food" and emily just wants chicken. Jake likes noodles.

Out of the 3, Minh is probably the worst to cook for. He loves the asian vegetables like napa, bokchoy, water cress and loves his meat. At dinner time, there has to be meat - ALL THE TIME. AND the vegetables have to be cooked a certain way otherwise he wont eat them. I swear, I tell him to cook his own food everyday, but does he? Nope. Sometimes I think about dinner and I just get too stressed out that I tell him to grab something for dinner. That way he can eat what he wants and I can have a healthy dinner cooked by me.

Anyhow, enough. I'm getting my run in today if it's the last thing I do.

Yikes! If I had to cook for three picky eaters I would run screaming into the night...leaving food burning on the stove! Kids, at least, have no option really but to (eventually) eat what gets served..my mom's comment everytime we turned up our noses at a particular food was "well, that's what we're having...I guess you're not hungry then"....as she took the plate away.

Oddly enough, I understand your hubby's cultural food attachment. I spent two (long) years living with a guy from Tanzania...every single meal except breakfast had to include rice cooked a certain way. No matter what I cooked, how many pains I went through to make it great, unless it included that damned rice he'd be unhappy. And I knew a Korean woman who, after 10 years, actually left her family and returned to Korea because (and I'm not exaggerating even a little) she couldn't get her family to eat Korean food and she couldn't live with eating "American" food anymore.

That's too funny about that Korean woman. I don't think me going to Vietnam is going to solve things, or maybe he could go back...:D

Tonight I told him to find something to eat himself because I was tired of thinking of food. I decided on Boston Market and so did the rest of the family. :p

Weather is really bad out today. I ended up leaving at 11 to pick up Emily since her school was closing at 1. I got a run in, some intervals, and crunches after. Went outside and saw about 4 inches had accumulated already and did about 15 minutes of shoveling.

Had Boston market for dinner and got about a little under 1800 today.

Finished up my weight routine and I'm finding that the weights that I lift, I could probably add more on. For my full squats I added 5 more pounds on each side my last 2 sets. With the Bench Press I started with a weight I though was heavy enough but added more the last 4 sets. Deadlift was actually not bad and the barbell row, I added more weights my last 2 sets. I'm not sure if this is the way I'm supposed to do it. Welll my workout:
Full Squats: 75 lbs: 5x3, 85: 5x2
Bench Press: 55: 5x1, 65: 5x4
Deadlift: 65: 5x5
Barbell Row: 45: 5x3, 55: 5X2

It was a snow day yesterday so I worked from home and then took Emily to the movie theater. I told myself to not have any food there, but I ended up getting the kids meal with popcorn and a pretzel, with cheese. I think I ate more cheese than the popcorn and pretzel combined. Ugh.

Today, headed to my 90 minute spinning class and then not sure what else. Had some Eggo waffles and honey with 12 grapes before the workout.

Leggo my eggo.

What is spinning? Everyone says they do it, but I have no idea what it is. :p

Spinning is another word for indoor cycling. The bikes you ride are called spinners and if you haven't tried a class yet, I suggest you do.

I've been taking classes since my second child was born and I love going to it.

Weigh in day...

Today is my weigh in day. I just don't want to see a gain.

Saturday I did about 75 minutes of the 90 minute spinning class. The class didn't start until 930 and I got there about 915 and there were no bikes! I couldn't believe it. About 2 minutes before class started, I saw an empty one and just got on. I was alittle pissed because people were saving like 3-4 bikes for their friends, so not fair. I think I may have to take the 745 am class from now on.

I have to say that during the class I was pretty amazed with myself. We were doing hill intervals and by the third or second interval I looked at my HR and saw that it was at my anaerobic threshold already and yet I wasn't even breathing that hard. Maybe it was the breakfast I ate: Eggo waffles and vitamin water. I thought it was a fluke in my HR monitor, but I got it up there again 5-6 more times. I was sweating and a little out of breath in between the sets, but not like before. I'm hoping it's from Intervals Thursday and my new weight routine Friday that helped. In a way I don't really care as long as I can keep this up.

Food wise, weekends always kill me. We're so not a routine family when Saturday and Sunday come along. Wake up whenever, eat whenever, cook whenever, go out whenever. I had to remember all the junk I ate this past weekend. New week, so a new start.

I'll update my weight this afternoon.

Good luck with the weigh in.

That is a LOT of cardio. 75 minutes, phew. No thanks.
