Diary of MNexercisegirl

great... another person that squats more than me... a female no less!

j/k great job!

too funny! but you got knee problems, so you're excused for not squating as much as a girl...oh my bad...:p

lifestyle change is a huge step, it cannot be just a passing faze to get you where you want to be. you have to maintain it.

one step at a time.

I think that's the scary part of all this...that it's not just a phase...it's a total journey and I'm not sure if I'm able to continue once all the weight is off. It's only been a month and I'm doing really well, to my surprise. I've never lifted as much or pushed my body to do things in HIIT and being really in tuned with how many grams of fat, carbs, and protein I'm taking in. Like I told cym, I'm still learning and figuring out what the heck my body is doing with all this stuff and training my mind to change.

Congrats on the weight loss!

I know what you mean about the food. FitDay is going to be a life-long thing for me too, in all likelihood. I find it extremely useful because it keeps up with my vitamins and minerals and I can see where I have deficiencies. Being a runner since I was in middle school, I also had the mentality, "Oh, i can eat what I want. I'm going for a run later." It's difficult to get out of that mindset and eat healthily no matter how intense the workout is. Best of luck to you!

Thanks casey! I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that thinks that way.

It's rest day today. As I'm sitting here typing this, my right quad muscle is twitching, like crazy. Why does this happen? I'll have to ask steve.

Had a great time at volleyball last night. Played with some of the older, and when I mean older I mean in the late 20s early 30s, ladies and seriously kicked some major butt when we played against some of the youngins (early 20s). Weird that they call us the older girls. Anyhow we all felt like rockstars that game, felt almost 17 again...:D

Went home and made some boiled shrimp and cocktail sauce and some vietnamese banana flavored rice crackers, sounds funny, but really good. I put it into fitday and went over 100 calories and shot my carb grams over 200. It's ok. My body needed something after that great game we played.

Went on the scale again this morning. I know I shouldn't have but I loved seeing 133 and it was still 133...haha

Lift day today.

I have a birthday to go to tonight, but it's one of those "to the club and celebrate" and I'm not sure I want to go. I'm tired by 10pm already and I'm supposed to meet them at 11pm. Plus I plan on getting up early tomorrow for my spinning rush at 745. Hmm, club: staying out, drinking, eating, having fun with the ladies, dressing up or home: sleep early to get to my spinning class at 745. I know what the most healthy choice is, but I also haven't been out with the girls in like forever...decisions...

We're headed to an engagement/open house tomorrow...yes, more food. But I'm going to be more self conscious with what I'm going to eat. I will.

Those birthdays and other celebrations -- those are the tough ones. When I quit smoking decades ago, the first test was at a party. I was surprised that I didn't want to light up. Now I get equally surprised when I don't want to eat all the bad stuff at a party, or even drink more than 1 glass of wine. For one thing, I keep thinking about how much exercise is in that little piece of chocolate cake, and it takes away a lot of the temptation.

Have a great weekend.

Too funny...cause I had pretty much the same choice last night...I know which one I chose... I think I can resist serving of double fudge chunky monkey easier than I can pass up a chance to get all dressed up. Gee, it's hard being a girl:cool:

Hi! Hope u had a great time with the girls.
I had a lunch & movie thing today with the girls myself & true to what TomO said, i just didn't think it was worth gorging. reminded myself how hard i would have to work to get it all off. Snacked on popcorn while the rest of them were pigging out on nachos!

Weekend Re-cap

I ended up staying home Friday night and opted not going out with the girls. It was gloomy out and I just felt like staying in with the family. I got in my spinning class on Saturday morning, but ate all day Satruday: Open house/Engagement party and a birthday party later on that night. I felt like I was eating all day. Sunday, stayed in and watched movies all day. Didn't eat well either and was planning on taking a spin class at 430, but was so addicted to my movies that I didn't eat from 11 to 430.

I'm not even mad at myself for this weekend like last time. I'm beginning to learn that I can't be perfect during the weekend because my weekends are not like my working days. I just have to learn how to adjust and if I fall off, I start over again on Monday. That's all there is to it. I can't beat myself up because it's just unproductive and too many negative thoughts.

Today I'm hoping to get a really good workout in later on tonight. Lifting at home with my kids. Gym by Jake has been a pretty decent alternative to the gym.

From 3/02/07
Full Squats: 75 lbs: 5x3, 85: 5x2
Bench Press: 55: 5x1, 65: 5x4
Deadlift: 65: 5x5
Barbell Row: 45: 5x3, 55: 5X2

From 3/28/07
Squats: 105 5x5
Incline bench: 65 5x5
Stiff leg dead: 85 5x5
Pull downs: 60 2 sets of 5, 65 3 sets of 5

Lifting 4/2/07
Squats: 115 lbs - Totally thought the 10 pound was a 5 pound and when I started the first set, I was like, this is heavy. I ended up doing the full routine with this weight and I'm damn proud.
Bench: 75lbs. I'm still at this weight, but I'm going to try and go up on Wednesday.
Stiffleg Dead: 95lbs. Another surprise to me. I didn't think I could do it, just thought, what the hey, let's try one set and see. Finished it with a grin on my face.
Barbell row: 75lbs. I totally slacked on this one. I could have pushed a little more and added probably another 5 pounds.

I've come a long way since March!

Overall I felt great with today. 4 days off from lifting and I felt strong as ever. I'm slcaking on my cardio though. I only did one HIIT last week and my spinning class on Saturday.

Food
I'm not getting an afternoon snack in and I'm feeling famished right before dinner. My stomach feels empty and hollow and I've got to put those protein bars to use. Today I had some chinese buffet for dinner. I was actually doing really well with some salmon and shrimp and some hot and sour soup, but then I saw the cream cheese wontons and baked mussels and I couldn't resist all that grease and as a result, my totals suck. Calories ~ 1700, Fat: 68 carbs: 149 Protein 123. The only vegetable I had was the cauliflower from the buffet. *sigh* Better food tomorrow

Goals this week:
Exercise: Atleast 3 days of cardio with 1-2 HIIT, 3 days of lifting (1 down 2 to go), yoga on Sunday?
Food: Decrease fat grams and stay under 40 grams, Get over 100 grams of protein, take my multivitamin daily, drink more water

my absolute fav food in the whole wide world!!!slurp!!

u r doing good. 2morrow is another day!!:)
Thanks Rashmi! I just had to have 3 of those...
I'm pretty impressed you work in HIIT that many times with 3 weight training sessions per week.
I usually only get 1 session of HIIT during the week. My goal is to see if I can do 2 this week. I'm thinking today or thursday and Sunday. As for the 3 weight sessions, for the past 2 weeks it's only been 2. So it's a goal to get 3 if I can Mon, Wed, Fri.

hi! i'm so inspired the weights u lift. I do only about 10 lbs max after which my muscles curl up & die.

How long did it take u to build ur stamina?

I've always lifted, but I have never lifted as heavy as I have in the past month. I only do 5 repetitions 5 times. I guess you just have to push yourself to work harder. I've realized that lifting heavy is a good thing and I won't ever bulk up like I thought. Example: CurvieGirlie - check out her before and afters. She looks amazing and she ate well and lifted heavy.

Last night
Intense Intervals - No HIIT
5 min: Warmup
10 min: 1 min 6mph, 1min 7mph x5
15 min: 2 min 6mph, 1 min 8mph x5
2 min: cool down 3mph

350 cals

Food: Low on the calories ~1350. Fat: 19 Carbs: 166 Prot: 133

Yesterday, I was trying to find some protein to eat for lunch. I looked up McDonald's Chicken breast up on Calorie King and it looked like a really healthy portion, so I got 2 sandwiches and threw away the bread.

Tonight: Lift day - Body by Jake here I come.

Nice weights! :)

Watch your weight increases from week to week.... you don't want to jump up too fast.

You are doing great.

thanks steve!

I am going to try and keep my squat weight for awhile. The last set was hard and I had to pump myself up before the 5th set. I'm going to try and increase my bench and row weight though today.
