Diary of an Overweight Coach

yep all 3 are on the Autism spectrum, so it can be a bit crazy round my place at times.

my eldest is the mildest and sit near the Aspergers level on the spectrum so almost normal whatever normal is, he thrives in a structured environment. his fitness test for the Air Force is next month.

my middle son is in the middle of the spectrum, and also has ADHD, he is genius level smart his paediatrician gave it some special name, he has been reading and understanding university level text books since early primary school but has all of the most common ASD problems especially the complete lack of understanding of social interaction and lack of understanding of how others feel, including being unable to read body language or facial expression.

My youngest is borderline severe, last year was the first year he has been able to attend school for a full day every day of the week. He is also ADHD, and struggles with language skills, he likes maths which is the subject he comes closest to being normal in. It has taken years of speech therapy to get to the point where he can be understood by most people and finally has an early primary school reading level. this year will be his second year in high school (grade 9).

there are very few people who actually understand how hard it is raising 3 ASD kids, and it does not get easier with age especially when you add teenage hormones into the mix.

The training and coaching I do is a method of coping with the high stress levels I have every day but usually never talk about. on the forum people discuss the stress of work or going out, I would love that low level of stress, I work part time in the sports medicine and coaching because I have to be on call to drop everything at a moments notice during school hours, weekends and after school is the only time I can work. I almost never go out socially so I don't face the problems of eating bad calories at restaurants and cafés.

Powerlifting is Stress Relief.

Now returning to normal viewing,

Exercise: None
Water: 3 litres
Food: ok, not ideal, ate 2 icy poles (about 100 calories between them) bringing carbs up a bit high, but with TOM beginning not a completely bad choice.

Hey, You are outstanding mum! :hug2:
I hope your broken bones heal fast!!

Well done on drinking a lot of water too!!

Thanks for the support :)

will get on the bike later, should be ok to increase blood flow now the initial swelling is beginning to reduce, wont be able to grip the bars but at least I can rest my hand on top.

I hope you heal quick. Maybe the rest will give your numbers a boost. I'm sorry your life is so stressful and that your stress relief is shelved for the moment. Hang in there! Feel free to PM me if you want to vent.

Hi Trusylver,

You must be a very strong person! Also, hope you get better soon and your son gets thru his fitness test.

I am sorry that things have gone from bad to worse for you.

I hope that the injuries soon heal and that you are feeling better soon.

Oh my goodness! Your fingers, and now your neck?! It is a bad week. So sorry, Tru! I hope it gets better and you heal quickly!

Car accident? What the..? On top of the broken finger? Enough of the bad luck Tru. Hope things get better for you FAST!

I am in a fair bit of pain but at least it is all muscular, the scans have cleared me of spinal damage, the car will be a write-off, I was in my eldest sons 2 door coupé stopped at a T intersection waiting for traffic when a Holden rodeo truck with a massive solid steel bull-bar ran up the bum of the car, the back of the car is now non existent and I hurt all over especially neck and head. My middle son in the passenger seat had a bit of a headache but is otherwise ok. Have to finish talking to the police today and then chase the other driver for his insurance details in the hope that they pay. being my sons car it was only insured for damage that was my fault which this is not.

feeling bad but have to get all the paperwork started, otherwise cannot afford the towing and storage fee let alone being able to afford to replace the car.

thanks for all the support.

feeling a lot better today, will see how I go on the bike, I don't want to let my team down in the challenge by loosing exercise points. won't be able to do much lifting but with enough strapping on the fingers I should be able to pump out a reasonable number of pushups.

it has been raining for the past few days which is great (filling the tank on the shed) as long as it doesn't flood the football fields like it did this time last year.

mum has found a reasonably priced car in Canberra as a replacement which she will buy and I will pay her back when the insurance money come through (the owner of the car is not happy with his 20 year old son who has been charged by the police and will be in court next month) I will need to fly down to Canberra to drive the car back. but with cars of the same type and condition here costing twice the amount it is down there, the travel will be worth it.

You have a remarkably positive attitude for all that's happened to you lately. You certainly have a healthy dose of that indomitable will Mahatma is talking about in your sig. I don't like that you aren't on my team. I'm glad you feel better today.

I think that if I let things get to me for too long then I would be in a bad way, I also believe we need to set an example for our kids, despite whatever problems we have or bad things that happen, life continues, injuries mostly heal, and objects are just objects and can be replaced over time.

Probably my biggest character floor is a lack of ability to understand people, along with a severe temper, it has improved as I have gotten older. If they diagnosed Aspergers as much when I was a kid as what they do now then I am sure I would have the same diagnosis as my eldest son although I think my eldest and most definitely my middle son are smarter than I am lol, I only have a 135 IQ

Thanks for the support mystic and Quercus :)

Cycling (stationary):
0:16:00 || 10 km || 100 BPM (76 calories)
0:14:00 || 7.2 km || 150 BPM (347 calories)

300 pushups
50 one arm pushups, fingers to painful to continue with normal pushups

so that is my hour for the challenge accounted for. Water minimum met even though that was last weeks mini challenge. Another easy mini challenge again this week.
