Great job on your foods and keeping to your plan! :)

Thank you Bethann!

:rotflmao: Yeah that girl is a waste of time. I kind of feel bad for her. Wouldn't that suck to be always peeking around your boyfriend's shoulder, and muttering in his ear about other girls?

It would suck, but she's a nice girl, maybe she was just having a bad day!

Hey Val, your workouts seem so much more like a soap opera than mine. The big discussion today was what medications everybody was on. I haven't hit on anybody yet, but I figure they must have granddaughters my age :)

LOL!! You crack me up, C-Man! :rotflmao:

Wow

2200 calories yesterday, not bad--I had a fight with some peanut M&Ms (which aren't even good, they were just THERE, at work) and lost. I had 2 and 1/2 beers at the brewery with the BF, and skipped dinner because I was already at 2200 calories. I don't feel bad about it, because the food I did eat was great

Yesterday's Lunch: As planned, Soy Tacos with filling, lettuce, salsa, and black beans. Then the horrible Peanut M&Ms :(

Still, guess what happened? I started early :eek2: So today is Day 1, and I weighed a wonderful 143.0 lbs--not effin' bad for the first day of my period, all bloated. IF I continue to eat under maintenance, and even drop a few hundred calories (I am now in menstrual stage, not luteal, which means I'm burning less fat), It's possible I'll be 139 by the end of my period.

The exercise I've been doing has truly been astounding:

Monday: Weight trained heavily for 1 hour--we're talking total body
Tuesday: Kickboe & Ab-Lab with Psycho Michael--we're talking sweating like crazy!
Wednesday: Ran 6.1 miles in the woods with a 800ft elevation gain
Thursday: 6:30 am martial arts for an hour (a good 15 minutes was stretching, though) AND Kickboe and Ab-Lab.
Friday: 6:30am heavy weight training for an hour.

I guess this isn't really any different from the past 6 months, but in those 6 months there were weeks that I skipped workouts and only worked out 4-5 times a week. My body feels great and if I truly am going to do that Triathlon, I need to build up more endurance.

Plans for today: Kickboe AGAIN! Ha ha ha ha!
B-fast will be a Protein Cliff Bar
Lunch will be Scallop dish I'm going to make
Day's activity will consist of a long bike ride with lots of sunscreen!
Dinner: undecided!

Valerie you are in such good shape it's incredible. I can't believe the forest running and all of the classes you're taking on. Good for you :)

Thanks, Sara! Being in good shape comes slowly. You do it, you do more, you push yourself, you listen to your body, you rest when it feels necessary, and you WEIGHT TRAIN, to keep all your joints/ligaments/hips/ankles strong and ready to take a pounding. High impact stuff works on me. I SWEAR it keeps my bones dense and strong and tough. Genetics helps, too--I've never broken a bone and very few people in my family on either side has, too. But they all run or do something, too. Weight training is my secret weapon, though. Not enough runners (my family included) know how useful/functional it is--not to mention it makes you look HOT!

Fat is along for the ride when you run--and adds weight. Muscle (though heavy) helps propel you along--it pulls its own weight and then some. Thus, weight train and you will be a better runner. :)

Update:
Kickboe was great and Michael's wife was there. She did not give any bad vibes, nor did she give me any looks. Nuthin. I wondered if I was imagining things, but it didn't matter--Psycho Michael was very nice to me and encouraging. I like that he encourages us to push ourselves and remarks, "Good!" when we succeed. That is a good trainer.

Food:
b-fast: Cliff Protein Bar, Peanut Butter-caramel, 270 calories
73% Dark chocolate & cassis, 3 little squares with no caloric info but probably about 50 calories each (thin little things! Trust me, I know chocolate!). I had 2, so 100 calories

(Kickboe)
Lunch: I will make my scallop dish tonight instead, lunch was green salad, grilled salmon with chili-lime lemongrass sauce and a side of white rice. I forgot to ask for brown. That is OK, I'm going to shower and pack up for my bike ride to Davenport and back from the brewery (close to HWY 1). All this exercise today is the green light for some rice, beer and chocolate, trust me!!!:) Hmmm, calories? Probably 260 for the salmon, 150 for the beer I forgot to mention I had (Newcastle), hehe hehe, 150-200 for the damn rice, hard to tell, the portion looked more than 1/4 cup but less than 1/2 cup, 100 for the sauce, 75 for the salad and dressing. 735 calories. Wow, and it seemed so light! Hey--that's how it goes, huh?

Total so far: 1155 I forgot to mention I had the other chocolate square ;)

Hey this is pretty good considering when I'm on my ass in the office on a weekday, I usually eat 1300-1600 calories before dinner! Stupid M&Ms and cheese and crackers and nuts! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Oh yeah, and when I re-weighed myself this morning I was 142.5, not 143. So that's cool, too. By the way, that is a BMI of 22.3 :)

When I saw this cornfield, destroyed by a driver chased by the police, I laughed! :rotflmao:
BAHAHA! That crazy mofo!

Nice to hear Mrs. Psycho Michael isn't causing trouble. He sounds like a great instructor. Pushing your students and praising them when they do well is an important part of what makes a good trainer. I'm glad you enjoy your kickboe so much!

Hi Val. How was your bike ride?

Gawd, Tom, do you ride by the ocean? The fucking WIND IS CRAZY, MAN!!! I hated it, so much, that I couldn't make it to Davenport--just Six Mile Beach. SO I rode 6.2 miles and turned around and rode with the wind 6.2 miles, so I did Kickboe and rode 12.4 miles. I swear the wind was pushing me back like crazy. Highway 1 is PSYCHO! Ugh.....I need a LIGHT bicycle. Mine is very heavy. I also had no gear--people stared at me in my short shorts and tight tank top :(

Either way, the brewery was a nice reward!!!!

Dinner: Wine tasting, beer, Chocolate truffle, scallop dish, pistachio ice cream, French bread and brie cheese. I'll figure out the calories later.

Thank you, Deanne you sure are a wonderful sweetheart  Have a great night!!!

I think a windy 12 miles is quite good. OK, compared to Tom's 84 it does look wimpy, but you must compare to the regular American population not some hardcore athletic madman like TomO . Just kidding Tom :).

What are you up to today? Its a beautiful day and I'm still trying to figure it out.

Yeah, 12 miles in the wind is nothing to shake a stick at. Good work! I'm so envious of you bike riders. I've been intending to buy a bike for about 2 years now and still don't have one.

Hey Curvie, just remember the heaviness of the bike and the extreme wind may have made the ride less pleasant, but they also increased the resistance which made it that much tougher a workout. Wishes is putting something on her bike to increase the wind resistance and you got it for free :)

Thank you, but keep mind it was SIX MILES in the wind--then six miles with the wind pushing me back to the brew pup :rotflmao:

Today I'm working at the nice restaurant all day. 9am to 9pm! :eek2:
At least it's a nice place:

Shake a stick at!!! How cute!!! :rotflmao:

Get out and buy one, babe!! ;)

:eh: Happy Canada Day!!! :eh:

Running again

I went to bed early because I was tired last night. Good reason, eh? THEN I woke up at 6am and drove to Seabright Beach and ran the route I used to when I lived on Ocean St (near-ish the Boardwalk). It's about 5 miles, I think, and covers mucho terrain. I start by running in the sand across the length of the beach (probably about 1/2 mile) then along the cement walkway along the mouth of the harbor, then through the harbor, then past the harbor around a meadow (dirt path), through the entire meadow and all the way back the way I came. So I run on sand, concrete, asphault, and dirt. Even though it was 6:14 am, the sun was up and shining.

At first I was stiff and cold. I warmed up and sprinted a little tiny bit while running through the harbor, but didn't feel up to it much. Yesterday's biking and kickboxing took it out of me.

Now I'm going to be on my feet all day, running around, helping set up an event at the restaurant. I have not been paid yet for working--but I've only worked two days. Today I hostess from 5-9pm. I have no idea what I'll be doing in 40 minutes. Better get ready!!

Food:
300 calorie Protein Plus bar (this one was gross, yuck! Give me a Triple Threat, mmmh!)
Cereal, soy milk and soy yogut

Hi Val, hope you have a great day. That sounded like a beautiful run you had this morning!

I'm going to take it easy today, LOL.

Thanks! The run was very beautiful, although my forest runs are even more beautiful in a way.

I HAD put a long post but WLF effed-up in the middle and I lost it :(

Basically, I'm on Day 3 and very crampy and bloated. I'm also tired. I worked only 2 three-hour shifts yesterday but went to sleep late. The BF is a sweetheart. But I believe we may be moving out end of this month, and he will most likely move to San Jose and I will check out the Aptos/Corralitos area (still Santa Cruz County).

It is SOOOOO HOT today. There's a stoopid dress code in this office--no shorts shorter than just above knee (skirts too) and shoulder covered. WTF, this office is ALL WOMEN.
