Deep Squats, Tired Hips

Last few weeks I have been concentrating on making sure my Squats go deeper then parallel. I have then noticed that my hips feel a lot more used and tired. Par for course?
 
You're likely feeling your hip flexors. This is entirely normal. As you squat deeper your body recruits your hip flexors to move the legs to parallel.
 
Adler, how does the hip flexors work like that? I was under the impression that they could only move your legs up towards your body, not push them down..
