decline bench (is it important)

a simple question: whats so good about decline benching?

If its really important, what exercises besides decline bench is important for pec growth??

Hey there,

Decline bench, or decline pec dec hits your upper chest. Other exercises are regular benchpress, pec dec, chest press, dumbbell flies, machine flies (similar to pec dec), cable crossover, and of course, pushups.

Good luck,

Im not one to say what is "good" or "bad" all I have is my own experience.

I feel that the decline bench does minimal work in terms of pec growth when compared to the stress it puts on my shoulders. I don't like to do them. From time to time I may throw it in just to do something different. That usually lasts about 3 sets then I remember (read "feel") why I don't do them.

I've had success with incline work, barbell and/or dumbbells, for max growth. I also like any fly movement.

yeah i know that feeling DM. feels like it works out the shoulders more than the pecs. Maybe our form isnt good? The reason I ask about decline is because my friend said decline bench press makes pecs do all the work and not so much your arms. maybe he's fulla it. im not sure.

decline bench, well i dont do dips, but from many good bodybuilders I have heard if u do dips they are good enough and declines aint needed. If you dont tho declines are essential for building the lower part of ur pec, but some ppl natural form good pec shape down there with just normal and incline presses, others dont.

decline bench works your lower chest. Incline bench works your upper chest and also the shoulders more. This is what I have always been told. This thread is the first time I am hearing that decline works the upper chest.
