Death to the fat ..!

I'll be turning 16 in 2 months.
It's time to make a change. I've been overweight all my life, and now I feel it's getting out of control. I'm 5'7 and weigh a horrible 222lbs. My selfesteem is at an all time low. I'm afraid to eat in public..
there's this little voice that screams things like "HA! The fat girl is eating!" "The FAAAT girl has an opinion???" Mirrors ruin my day.
My goal weight is about 160.. maybe less later on.

I'm ready for a new beginning. =D

Hello!

Welcome to WLF! Congrats on starting a journal... this a great first step. I think its wonderful that you are deciding to make these changes at such a young age. I wish I did. I totally understand your lack of self-esteem and the voices.

No one here will make fun of you only offer support and guidance. There are wonderful people here... some of us quite hysterical. Don't be afraid to ask questions or speak about anything:)

Do you have a weight loss plan yet...Exercise and Diet changes? If not or even if you had I would recommend reading the stickies for nutrition and exercises in their respective sections of the forum. They are chock full of helpful information.

If you need anything feel free to pm me or im me on one of my screenames.

Congrats on starting your journey... I look forward to watching you transform.

Welcome to WLF! Congrats on deciding to be healthy.

Don't feel bad about eating in public. We all have to eat. And if you're eating something healthy, who can fault you for that?

Jenna is right about looking at the stickies for advice on diet and exercise. They are extremely useful.

Good luck, sweetie! We are here for you!:)

welcome! congratulations on making the choice to make a change. this is a wonderful place to learn and get support.

Givin that it appears your reasons are primarily social you may be tempted to try drastic measures. Dont do it!!

Slow and steady is the way to go, and lifestyle changes are the KEY.

I cant stress enough that changing your lifestyle and making slow and gradual changes that you CAN STICK WITH. is going to make the world of difference.

Welcome to the forum!! We are glad to have you here!!
I can relate to those 'voices' in your head. It's defeating that we have been programmed to think that way. I just scream back at those voices, using as many obscenities it takes to make them go away. And it works! You are beautiful no matter what is on the outside, no matter what that negative voice says. Finding the inner confidence to be happy with yourself, and love yourself is the true meaning of this journey. And along the way you will lose weight because you are finding a balance.
I too have horrible self esteem, mainly because I was with a man who tore me down mentally, and physically, and I started to believe I deserved it.
Once I broke away from him, I started to see more clearly, and I started to see myself in a better light. Can you think of any negative influences in your life that you can stand up to?

Hey Ashes,

I can't wait to hear about all of your progress. RJ is right, make small changes at first and hammer them into your lifestyle. Progress on to new changes once you have accomplished your first set. Make a list of as many changes you feel you need to make. Pick out a couple. Maybe one is easy and one is a little harder. Commit the next few weeks or however long it takes to making those changes a part of your new lifestyle. They may start out as small changes, but they will make a huge difference when they begin to really add up.

Keep me posted on your progress.

Matt

Welcome!!!
Good for you, you've taken the first step on this journey, it's not easy but sooo worth it. Take care of yourself and don't listen to those voices, I hear them all the time, I just stop them before they stop me. YOU CAN DO THIS!
Ttyl, good night! :)
