Hello all!
After lurking around the boards for quite sometime, I've made the decision to start my own thread. Since my attempts at weightloss have been unsuccessful before, I figure maybe things will go differently if I have something to keep me accountable!
I'll try to post every day, or every other day, but who knows how that will go. I will try my best, though! I'll start off with these default questions:
What is your current height and weight? I'm 5'3 1/2 (when you're this short, you count halves) and I'm about 175. I can't be 100% positive though, on account of both scales I own give me different weights, and neither of them produce the same number as the doctor's.
If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?IDEALLY, 125. But for now, I'm aiming for 140-135.
At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? My goal weight. When I eat healthy and exercise, I lose weight pretty quickly, so it's entirely possible.
Why do you want to lose weight? Multiple reasons I will post in a later thread.
Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event? Nope, not really.
What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? My friends and I always go out to eat, just for the heck of it or someone's birthday. It's so easy to go overboard. Another obstacle is definitely my busy schedule. It can be so hard to find time to get to the gym, especially on weekends.
Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? I eat too much and don't get enough exercise, isn't it the same with most people? I've always loved food, and when I get a craving for something, I feel uneasy until I can actually eat it. Growing up, I was never really involved in sports. Everything I did try, I ended up quitting, so there was never much physical activity.
What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? Making time to go to the gym, even if it means cancelling out something else to fit it in. Another thing is to have my meals planned out ahead of time, so I'm not scrambling around to find something decent to eat.
Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight? A bad dental problem. I went to the dentist to get a simple tooth problem fixed, and ended up with an infection. The lymph nodes by my jaw were so swollen, I couldn't barely open my mouth. Needless to say, I couldn't eat anything, which resulted in a fast weightloss. I did manage to lose a pant size that I kept off, as well as 5 out of the 10 pounds I lost that week.
Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? For that particular time I mentioned above, easy: I regained the ability to move my mouth. In general, however I haven't been able to lose weight because I can never manage to go to the gym on a steady basis. That, and not being able to reduce my calorie and fat intake.<
What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work? I can't really think of anything ..
Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time? Definitely, if it increased my chances of losing and keeping off the weight.
Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? Most of the time. I usually make pizza, with dough or English muffins, or really anything I can find. Sometimes I liked to order out and get a ham and cheese sub or a meatball sub.
How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? Around once every two weeks or so. We usually go to Uno's, Chilis, or Margarita's, where I usually always get a side caesar salad and a chicken quesadilla. Unless I'm at Uno's, which I will replace a quesadilla with their flat bread cheese and tomato pizza
What are your three favorite foods? Pizza, quesadillas, and caesar salads (if you can't already tell). I also have a soft spot for anything sweet, like cookies, cake, brownies, pie, rice krispie treats...
What are your three favorite restaurants? Bugaboo Creek, Chilis, and Uno's
What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? Get more protein! I never get enough, and always have too much fat and carbs. I can also eat less and swap bad things with healthy alternatives.
If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different? I'd be so much more confident and do things I wouldn't do at this weight.
Do you eat when you are not hungry? A lot of the time I do, like when I'm bored. Especially if there's something delicious around that we usually don't have, I feel the need to seize the opportunity ):
Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? Occasionally
Do you hide your food or eat in secret? Not really.
Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? Usually I eat when I don't have anything else to do. When I'm out and about I usually forget about eating for hours until I realize I'm starving. At home, though, my mind constantly wonders to food.
Do you eat as a reward? I don't usually.
Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? YES! In fact, that's usually ALWAYS where I eat. Er, is that bad?
What do you normally eat for a meal? For breakfast, usually an English muffin with peanut butter or cheese, or a chocolate poptart. For lunch, these delicious things called Bosco sticks, which are breadsticks with cheese in the middle :X. I eat one or two of those, depending on what I had for breakfast. With nacho cheese. Damn. Dinner is hard for me, since it's my least favorite meal. I can never think of anythign good to have.
What type of snacks do you eat? Whatever is around! Usually another English muffin in the afternoon, just to hold me over until after the gym when I eat dinner. Healthy snacks are difficult for me to find.
In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? For a while now I will go to the gym for about two hours. I do between 30-55 minutes of cardio (elliptical, because it burns tons of calories; the treadmill for about 10 minutes so I can slowly increase my running ability). After cardio, or before, I stretch, do abs, and strength train both legs and arms.
Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home? The local Planet Fitness. I find that I really enjoy going to the gym, where I'm forced to actually work out (as opposed to at home, where there are so many distractions).
What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? I love the elliptical because it burns so many calories, dancing, and occasionally sprinting.
What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? Hm, I guess just the fact I'm not getting any younger! The longer I put off losing weight, the more I miss out on.
Do you have rewards for certain goals? I'll also post those in a later post.
Alright, so there's a little introduction to me and this thread. I'll post some more a little later!
