Deadlifts..

Can someone please tell me the right way to do deadlifts.. I tried to do stiff legged deadlifts the other day, and my back was aching for 3 days after that..

try roman deadlifts, then you bend your knees a bit so you dont get hurt so easily, but its just as effective. atleast so ive been told.

Yeah i would go with the romanian deadlifts as well, they're safer, as you might have noticed, but the chance for injury is still high, I'm sure you'll read around. If it's hard to do and visualize once you are actually there, find someone or ask someone who definitely knows, not just a friend that thinks they know, cause you don't wanna mess up your back for good.

1. the back stays straight...NEVER allow it to curve forward - this is when you'll injure it.
2. start light, focus on form, then increase poundage when you're more confident
3. its better to do 6 reps and stop, than try to do 8-10 and have your form suffer (see #1)
4. try standard deadlifts, where you lift the bar from the ground, straighten legs and lift with the back. More momentum and additional muscles help reduce lower back strain.
