Deadlifts and Lower Back

So I did deadlifts earlier in the week and have some lower back soreness. It's not in my spinal column, however. It's more around the areas on the sides of the spine, in the kidney area(s) I suppose. It seems to be a burning/aching pain. Was wondering if this was simply muscle soreness since deadlifts activate lower back muscles or if it was an indicator of improper form. Thanks in advance.

It could be normal, as some people have weak lower backs to begin with. The only way to know for sure is to be strict with your form, pay attention while exercising. My lower back used to fail before my upper/hams so I would have to stop, but eventually the weakest link switched. And the location is your erectors, which lye on either side of your spine.
