DaveL at it again

I'll just start by saying i'm well over weight, at 24 I shouldn't be 308 lbs. It's time for me to turn my life around again. Last time I went over 300lbs I managed to get back down to 235 and now I need to do that more than ever. I fear that if I don't change my ways now it will never happen. I'm going to start a new diet (haven't decided what it will be) and workout regime. I was most successful when doing the insanity workout videos and will probably start with that and then move into gaining muscle once the fats gone. I decided to join this forum because one of my problems that caused me to go back was that i never felt like i had support and i think a forum based around weight loss will be the perfect place for me. Thanks for any help now and in the future.
Cheers,
DaveL.

use the pics as motivation, they are your starting point.

one of the best ways to make the most of your journal is to post in here often, including keeping a food and exercise journal. The experienced members here can offer better suggestions for changes when we can see a pattern in your eating and activity levels.

I personally do not give out much diet advice, but if you have any exercise or training question I am happy to help.

Hi Dave & welcome to the forum. It is a very supportive place & most of us help one another, mostly with motivation & moral support. Making small changes can make an enormous difference. Drinking more water, getting more sleep, eating less junk food, more fruit & vegetables, cutting down or cutting out fried food.......taking the stairs, instead of the elevator or escalator, parking a bit further away & walking part of the way, getting up from the computer & doing a few squats or taking a small walk....the list is endless really...but all or any of these things will make a positive difference. Don't discount anything that sounds simplistic..

Every little change you make for the better, every day that you feel that you have done well don't forget to say to yourself "Well done Dave!" If you have a bad day you tell yourself that no-one is perfect, you'll do better tomorrow & you move on. You can do it Dave! Cheers, Cate

Hi Dave, and welcome! You've already gotten some great tips from other members, so I'll just say we're looking forward to following along on your journey.

I knew I joined the right place, just seeing people giving interest gives me more motivation. Yesterday was also the last day for soda's. Monday shall be my first workout of the year and I'll make it a good one. My only concern is that I work night shift and its always said that it's alot harder to lose weight on nights. I don't want to feel disappointed in progress.
Cheers,
DaveL

Good riddance to sodas! Re: night shift- so long as you are prepared & eat healthy it won't make any difference. Planning & determination are the key & ignore the negative thoughts. You can do this Dave! Cheers, Cate.

I haven't started exercising yet will start as if next week. Yet just though a week and a half of changing my diet I am down 8lbs, only good things can come of this.
Cheers,
DaveL

Joining the others in sending out a welcome. Sounds like you are out of or about to exit the 300's so congrats on a successful first week.

Try to ease into the exercise if you can. My first day back in the gym nearly crippled me with sore muscles for the next two days :)

my roommate and i had our first cheat meal, we loved pizza it was one of our most eaten foods. Not anymore that destroyed us and i guess thats a good thing because its one very unhealthy food that wont be in my body any time soon.

It's okay to cheat every so often, just don't make it a regular thing. And when you do cheat by eating pizza, only have one slice. Portion control is key.

i started up my workout program, its called freeletics and i have seen plenty of success stories. i just need to install a pull up bar somewhere.
