I got the tip from chubbygirl tha this was an awesome thing to do (re: the diary thingy) and so here goes....

How much weight do you want to lose? 60 - 70 lbs

What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? 9 months

How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? 1/2 vegetarian diet (lol @ self), exercise 1 hour after i wake up 4-6 days a week, become a badminton player (i'm learning the sport), 1500 - 1800 calories a day, about 2.5 litres of water a day etc

Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? i wold surely help if i had a few friends with the same goals, problems, or just ppl who have been there who can give their support, advice etc

How realistic is your goal? pretty darn realistic to me

When will you start? the latest March 31st


1. What is your current height and weight?5' 10" , 233lbs
2. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be? 165 lbs
3. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? below 200 lbs!! even 199 :D

4. Why do you want to lose weight? 1. to feel gooood about myself! 2. to be able to by some clothes that actually fit!! 3. to wear a bikini without a wobbly butt and gut lol. 4. to get rid of my risk of hypertension (this journey is not just about fat loss, good health is the ultimate goal). 5. to break my family cycle of obesity

5. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event? My 21st birthday! oct 10th!!! i wanna be 180 lbs by then. :hurray:

6. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? laziness, procrastination, depression and overeating
7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? well, yes...

8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? quit overeating, take my supplements, exercise often

9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight? i lost ~40 lbs from 258 - 222 lbs by master cleansing and exercise. i love the cleanse but i don't want to do it for losing weight

10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? i pretty much ate almost the same way as before, i am a lil more active that i was then but.. pretty much the same thing.

11. What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work? when i was younger: throwing up. it gave me migraines like horrible migraines. eventually i can to my senses and stopped. it would have worked to help me lose weight, but that isnt my only goal now so, its not effective or sensible.

12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time? um... i think i could try.. i hope
13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? i am a lousy cook. i usually cook callaloo (greens) or saltfish (salted cod) with yams or rice or something. i rarely cook

14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?school cafeteria lunches, Patty shops (Jamaica patties are like crusty meat pies) etc
15. What are your three favorite foods? does water count? lol okay, 1. fruits with a lot of water like grapes, watermelon, juicy apples, oranges :). 2. cheesy stuff (though the give me migraines :/) and 3. i looove pastries!! aaaaaaah. ok its a love hate relationship

16. What are your three favorite restaurants? u prolly wouldnt be familiar with them, (Jamaican)
17. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? eat less starchy foods, more vegies, more nutrient rich foods

18. If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different? lol!! nice question: firmer legs and butt, slimmer body, nice abs, strong arms, no stretch marks, glowing even skin tone! yup :D
19. Do you eat when you are not hungry? yeah, when food is available lol

20. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? yup, for no reason sometimes
21. Do you hide your food or eat in secret? no, that's dumb.. why would i HIDE ad eat? who am i hiding from ??? ::confused::
22. Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? yup

23. Do you eat as a reward? no
24. Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? yup, but not like the classic case coach potato remote in hand crap

25. What do you normally eat for a meal? rice and peas, fried chicken, veggies, water
26. What type of snacks do you eat? cheetos type snacks and biscuits

27. In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? badminton 7 (5+2 - 2 days) hours a week
28. Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home? the school badminton court.. if i walk i walk in a parking lot by my apt.

29. What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? 1. badminton!! 2. dancing :D .. um, not ballet guys, club dancing. 3. walking, strength training vids etc
30. What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? ?/ i dont understand this question
31. Do you have rewards for certain goals? yup, 30lbs - tattoo plus some clothes. -50 lbs by my bday and i will enjoy my bday weekend with friends :)... goal weight on new years.. thats reward enuf :)


so.. wow.. took me say 30 minutes to fill it out! must be a hell of a long page and a mighty lot of typo/sp errors but i did it!
hope to get some feedback guys! :D

Hi Dania! I just started my diary a few days ago too. We are similar and starting weights and height. I am 5'9" and started at 224. I know you can reach your goal in 9 months as long as you stay motivated and a diary like this is a great place to start.

You may also want to try starting a free account for my plate through livestrong. I have found that it really helps me keep track of exactly what is going into my body and how many calories I am actually eating. I wish you nothing but success!

Is it like Fitday.com or Fatsecret.com? i am on those two tracking sites and they are soo awesome!! you can check them out and tell me what you think :)
 
Glad to see you started a journal and I really think your goals are attainable! Go for it girl - don't wait till March 31st!! Start today!
 
Hey Dania! I just started a diary like you. Although our height is different by 7 inches our weight loss goal is pretty similar! I'm aiming for 80 pounds. I think this is a great start for anyone to lose weight. Having support really helps. I'll be checking in on you!

I've been on this site for awhile perusing posts and I totally related to your story. I've yo-yo dieted in the past but now I'm fatter and unhappier than ever before. It's taken me a couple months (I intended to start in January), but I'm finally ready to get my ass in gear.
I'd love to follow long with your diary to help keep me motivated since we have very similar goals.
I'm female, 5'9, moderately active, and 205Lbs. I would like to weight 145Lbs - so that's 60 Lbs to lose.
I'm going to aim for 1500-1800 calories per day plus exercise. I hope to lose 10Lbs a month,

Thanks chubbygirl! u know what? i could start tomorrow morning if i could wake up on time! but i sleep earlier this evening so i could study all night. i have a Pharmaceutics lab test tomorrow :(

:( not fun, cramps and a lab test tomorrow... not fun at all

----Today's food:
about 2 L water
1 serving Pepsi - 100 calories :(
2 cheese patties - (about 400 cal each) :confused:
1 turkey sandwich
* turkey 70 calories :)
* White bread :(
* Lettuce :D
2 cups ginger tea - about 120 cal

Comments:
Okay, it wasn't good. fat, sugar and carb day. not good. I need to stock up on fruit and veggies.
Water intake was okay, i don't feel too dehydrated

---- Today's Exercise
Well i honestly did nothing today... except sit in class and write notes, walk around campus to and from the patty shop and walk to bus and from bus to my gate
something needs to be done here... i had cramps this evening though, i doubt i would be in the mood for any excess walking.

Which gets me thinkin: WTH am i gonna do when i actually begin and i have cramps? Advice anyone? do u just load up on panadol/midol etc? any remedies?

Great diary! so you had about 1100 calories for today? thats under your target right? so good thing! Good luck with the badminton Dania it really is a fun sport :D Best of luck with the goal for your bday, you WILL make it!

Nah I haven't started my own diary... I just like reading what other people are up to and occassionally making a comment.

I was super hungry today... not that I didn't eat - I ate 1700 calories. I definitely considered ordering a pizza but I worked through the urge lol.
I didn't exercise but I got really bored after writing up a big lab report and went on a cleaning binge. I worked up a sweat scrubbing every inch of my bathroom spotless. Tomorrow I should probably do a workout video.

I definitely think the most important thing is to cut down the amount of food so even though your day didn't have enough fruits and veggies at least you weren't overeating. That being said, it is important to make the switch to healthier foods also. I have cut out white "stuff" and replaced it with whole grains and I have stopped drinking soda. I used to love diet soda but it is so bad for you.

If I eat so healthy why do I need to lose weight you may be thinking... I am a total emotional eater. I eat when I'm stressed or bored, and school is stressful and boring!!!
 
Thanks DMR!! Yup the lab test was awesome! I just hope i dint make a mistake and end up getting an F instead of an A, there isn't much intermediate :/ u either got it all right, or all wrong sigh...
actually 1100 calories isnt really healthy at all... but i have went daaaaays without food altogether so.. its better than nothing. i am totally out of cash now so i will have to wai a bit to get some groceries.

Yeah i generally eat wheat and no soda, as a matter of fact i rarely drink soda, i still have 2/3 of a bottle in my fridge from yesterday.. i got it in the combo so i just had some lol.

Well today was another slow day. stayed back and had a group study from pharmacology after my test... badminton training was cancelled. its next monday before i play again...
I'm pulling another all-nighter for a test tomorrow AGAIN!!! sigh.. i dont think this one is gonna be good tho :( sigh.

Well, i was just dropping by to say hello! Hopefully i stay on saturday :)

I just noticed your ticker... 25 Lbs lost!!! That's awesome. Why are you saying you haven't started yet - obviously you're doing something. So do you want to lose 60Lbs or is it 35Lbs?
 
thats from my HIGHEST WEIGHT which was 260 lbs! (note the name :))
i am 233 now and i wanna move from 223 - 198 (under 200 :D) which is another 35 lbs!
yeah i need to update dis ticker for real! i wanna go beyond 198lb... this is just my below 200 lbs challenge lol

just did Adrian's 10 minute jumping jack workout.. i am sooooo not fit!!

went again for another 5 minutes, gonna cool down now and do 15 minutes again when i get back from my group study!!
