:) Hello, I'm Dana. 17, female, NY, insecure, would love nothing more than to lose around 50-60 pounds. I'm starting tomorrow. My main goals are to drink lots of water, walk or work out everyday, and eat healthy without following a strict diet plan. I'm hoping to lose at least 5 pounds this first week, and eventually, be at a healthy weight by June 1st (just in time for bikini season!). Any motivating comments or tips would be wonderful. Thanks!

Hey Dana, welcome to your diary!

50-60 pounds by June seems a bit much, not saying it can't be done, but losing weight fast isn't good.

Good luck anyway!!
:)

Thank you, i'll keep that in mind. I'm just...eager. :)

Also, it's awesome that there are younger people here too.
I was in weight watchers several years ago, and the majority of people we're over 25...

Day 1

I eat four meals a day, due to my school schedule.

Fiber Cereal- 100
Chai Tea- 40

Apple- 50
v8 Juice- 30

Definitely off to a good start, but make sure that you don't get so consumed with counting calories that you undereat. Your meal plan for today, however, is very impressive.

Losing 50 pounds by June will be hard. Just stay focused and work hard at your goal, and anything is achievable. I saw this on another girl's profile, and I think it is kind of cute/funny, and it is true! "No food tastes as good as skinny feels." Any time I am tempted by foods that I know I shouldnt eat, I repeat that line, and it helps me avoid them.

I am also 17. Just thought I'd throw that in there. :)

Thank you.
Yes, it will be hard and I won't be dissapointed if I don't lose that much, I just like to set high goals for myself.

I love that saying. In fact, that just motivated me to start a thread of motivational quotes or something, if there isnt already one.

Day 2

Rice and Beans- 375

Chips- 150 (eh, school food)

Palak Paneer- 270
Pickle- 5

Peanuts- 100
Popsicle- 120
Apple

total- 1080

Welcome! This site kicks ass and it's so fun to see other people's progress and hear their thoughts--a lot of peeps are pretty funny up in here!

Losing weight is difficult--exercise compliments eating. If you can possibly stand it, incorporate as much activity as possible into your life. Eating less may help you lose some weight, but cardio and weight-training will re-shape you body and make you not only healthy, but HOT too! Also, it keeps the metabolism up.

Great job on the food, and good luck!

Thankyou!
I don't exercise per se, but I walk to and from school (2-3 miles). Sometimes I walk a little extra. I want to start doing yoga too.

You are doing great, keep it up! Have you ever tried pilates? If you like yoga, you would probably like it and it burns a lot of cals and really tones you. I bought a 50 minute, full body DVD that has different sections you can do one at a time or all at once. It was only like, 5 bucks at Wal-mart. Maybe there are some dvd's like that that would work into your fitness plan?

Day 4

5 bucks..thats awesome. Yeah, my mom has a bunch of pilates vids, I was searching the basement earlier...I found MTV yoga too. Cool. :)

French Pastrything- 120

Caeser Salad- 170

Tuna Melt- 500ish
Reduced fat oreos- 150

Up those cals a bit!

It's important not to go this low so early on, because your body is going to get use to it, and stop losing after a point... which is when you may have to decrease your intake even more, or start increasing your cardio!

It's sugguested that women don't go under 1,200kcal anyway, because under that your body goes into starvation mode...

Best wishes to you!

Ok, i'll try to. It's just that I've been told all my life that less cals= less weight. But you're right...cause I'm hungry! thanks :)
