Cut and abs?

How can I work on getting cut, not "big"... but at the same time work on getting my abs to show?

I'm currently lifting Mon-Fri, running 3 times a week, and eating a surplus of protein.
I don't know if it's possible to get abs with all the protein that I am consuming,
unless I did some insane ab workout on the weekend, like 1000 crunches throughout
the weekend :S
 
o_O I don't think you have a firm grasp of what protein does....

One of the major roles of protein is to build muscle mass, which your abs are most certainly included in. If you're trying to cut and show your abs, then that's a matter of being in a calorie deficit, not a protein deficit. Ideally you should be consuming about as much protein while cutting as you do whilst bulking, and you should be performing relatively heavy resistance training in both circumstances (not 1000 crunches, which is only going to help you ruin your back). Calorie deficit, plenty of protein, whole body strength training including a few sets of ab exercises in the 10-20 rep range, is all you need.
