Creatine

For someone new to Creatine, how much should I take. Do people still do the 4 or 5 day loading phase of about 20grams a day. Suggestions?

Has anyone heard of any negative effects that Creatine cause.

Started taking creatine last tuesday. My friend advised me not to load and to take two grams a day would be enough. Others, suggested loading phase of 5-7 days (15-25grams). Did some research and found better immediate results for those who load, but after 4 weeks results evens out. I decided to take 5.25 grams the first three days of working out and now im dropping down to about 2.5-3 grams. (A compromise saving me some money, while speeding up the intial process) The results and side effects after 5 days? Well my body has been extremely sore from lifting and my muscles (esp my chest- the area I was lacking) is a lot solider and feels a lot bigger (though I havent done measurements yet). However, I havent gotten the immediate boost in energy/strength some people speak of. Negative side effects? Drinking more, maybe gaining some fat (ill burn it off later).
 
some ppl do still load but as NB08 posted, after roughly 4 weeks you'll be at the same point if you load or dont load. some even make the case that because a small amount of ppl do not respond to creatine, that loading will show this very quickly so one does not have to waste their time. so its up to you which one you want to do.

a normal serving is a teaspoon which is 5 grams.
