creatine problems

If I take one scoop of creatine after a workout and two protein bars a day, is this too much? the bars have 5 in each. Also, I have acne coming up, when i get creatine, it gets worse. :(

How many grams of creatine is in a scoop? And protein bars aren't good for regular use, bad stuff in 'em. And yes, anything over 5g a day is bad(creatine).

mreik - what are the nagative effects of u using too much creatine?

I take a tea spoon once per day of pure Cre. Mono.

There's your problem. Big box stores order from other countries and warehouse items for months at a time before shipping them to distribution centers all over the US. There's no tellin how old that creatine is. After 6 months, it breaks down and becomes pure Creatitine, a toxin. You're basically poisoning your body. Throw it out. If you want to do creatine, go to a reputable place like GNC.

I use the GNC brand and I bet it's a couple months old when I buy it. I'm sure they warehouse it and distribute it to their stores just like Walmart. I'm only using 3G per day, so the smallest container they sell is going to last me about 3 months. That makes it 5 months old by the time I'm done with, so if it's completely broken down into creatinine after 6 months as you suggest, what's it like at 4 months or 5 months?

It's just hard to believe that powdered creatine sitting in my cupboard can turn to crap so quickly. I'd really like to see some documentation so I can read about this. It's cheap enough to toss every 2 months and buy again if the alternative is to poison myself.

As long as it stays in a cool, dry environment, it stays good for a long while. The only side-effects said to be caused by too much creatine include an upset stomach, nausea, and i've had a few friends throw up.. But nothing serious. There's no point in using more the 3-5g/day, as it won't be used by your body. Anything more than 5g will basically give you an upset stomach, and then leave, nothing useful.

If it looks like this, it's 5g/scoop.. which is perfect.

1. creatine, stored at a reasonable temp range, and kept dry, lasts longer than 12 months.

2. creatinine isn't exactly a toxin. its a useless degraded version of creatine that you piss out

3. ONLY people with existing kidney problems have ever been shown to suffer ill effects from too much creatinine in their system. But these people shouldn't have been taking creatine in the first place.

4. GNC...reputable?
