cramps

i havent had a problem with cramps until about a week ago. yesterday one of my calves and one of my hamstrings cramped. my calves cramped the time before that too and its on a weight thats lower than my desired weight. my hamstring cramped on an ab exercise. what is the cause and what can i do to stop cramps.
 
First of all, if you didnt, STRETCH! I remember trying to squat without streching first... huge mistake. Also, drink lots of water and I heard that the potassium from bananas helps, but im not too sure on that one. Its worth a shot, just toss a banana or 2 into your diet :).
 
i've read about lactic acid build up in the muscles can cause cramps but i think that was during cardio. so stretching sounds like the likely suspect. the potassium thing is worth looking into too i have heard that alot. i'll look into it too and post what i find it would be interesting to know.
