Cottage Cheese Question

Hey guys and gals, I've ran across a few posts about eating cottage cheese about 1 hour before bed. Can someone tell me why is tis recommended? What is it doing for me.

Thanks
R.

unlike other proteins it takes 2-7 hours for it to absorb into your muscles. so as you sleep your getting protein to feed your muscles.

cottage cheese is a source of casein protein. Casein slowly enters the bloodstream, resulting in slower digestion over a longer period of time. So its perfect for supplying protein to your muscles while you sleep for how many hours you sleep for.
Not only that, but it supplies you're muscles with rich amino acids (which is awesome).

The one thing about cottage cheese you gota control is the sodium. Most of them cotain a high amount of sodium ... so drink water while and after eating it.

Does drinking a lot of water totally counter the negative effects of high sodium?
To an extent. Your body actually retains more water on its own when sodium levels are high.

Cottage Cheese isn't the only form of casien protein, there are others such as milk, cheese, yogurt, and other dairy. There are also slow release protein shakes, that work just as well if not better, but definatly more pricey.

look on john berardis site for an article called "bedtime story"

as mentioned, you just want to consume something that will sustain you as long as possible during the night.
